Saw The Hangover Part II last night.

It was OK. I thought it was going to be crap but it wasn't. Good but not great. Highlight was all 7 of us losing our shit when we spotted the Randy Savage poster in Alan's bedroom.

What I didn't like was how they kept it so similar to the first one. The twists and turns it was just all so predictable, and to have another song in it was just milking it and it wasn't even good.

Still, I laughed like a drain at some bits, but I think I will have to watch it again sober to score it's hilarity. Some bright spark though it would be a good idea to do pitchers of cheap cocktails before the film. Never doing that again.

Yeah I felt very much the same way about it. It's very hit and miss with the laughs but when it works it scores pretty big. The biggest issue I had with it is its just pretty forgettable. The first is one of the most quotable comedies in recent memory, yet the second really lacks those great lines and the ones that are good are mostly rehashes from the first. But yeah, good not great is about right, I saw a review describe it as the Die Hard 2 of comedies which pretty much sums it up.

Completely agree.

I watched the first Hangover film twice. Mainly because I barely laughed the first time and had to watch it again just in case I missed something. I didn't, it's just bad. I honestly don't know what you mean by 'most quotable film in recent memory', like I said I watched it twice and I can't quote a single sentence from the film. To me, just a truly forgettable unfunny film.

I think it might be to do with the fact that I find Zach Galifianakis incredibly annoying and not humorous in anyway. In fact he's a prime example of trying too hard to be zany and funny, but comes across as an unlikeable dick. I also think that Ken Jeong is the least funny person I've ever seen in any film.

Haven't seen the film yet but was in Paris for the weekend and was slightly tickled by the poster outside the cinema

Yeah, I remember you saying you hated the first, I can see why if you don't like Galifianakis of Jeong. Do yourself a favour man, do not see the second. I liked the Alan character in the first, but the second is one of the major miss points I mentioned for the most part. He's not stupid in a funny way, more of a sad way.

I still watch the first Hangover when I need a laugh but I really can't imagine doing that with this one. Alan is funniest when he's not being milked and it's his subtle 'Alanisms' that make him so good in the first one but they are very few and far between now and I think one of his funniest moments in this film is,

SPOILER - Highlight the black box to read

When they are taking their vows and Alan pokes his head out from behind them.

That could have been because I was a bit merry though.

I liked The Hangover but never felt it was as good as some were claiming, I watched it and wondered if those people had ever watched any good comedies before. That said I've felt similar about other recent comedies like Date Night and Hot Tub Time Machine as well. If people think they are hilarious then fair do's cause I think 'Cop out' is funny and I bet people hate that.

I missed the critical acclaim for Date Night, but I thought Hot Tub Time Machine was atrocious. The first Hangover is brilliant, though. I've only ever heard awful, awful things about Cop Out but haven't seen it. I might do, as well as Date Night, as I'm very fond of the 30 Rock cast now.

Hot Tub Time Machine is atrocious, I'd rather watch Scary Movie 2 than that. Best bit of Date Night is the car/taxi bit with Leon from Curb Your Enthusiasm, rest of the movie was just there, ok but nowt special.

Cop Out takes me back to the old days, to films like Stakeout. Check the trailer, you should know straight away if you'll like it just from that.

Comedy really is just personal taste though, one person's gold is another person's turd.

Agree 100%. The Hangover is fucking shit. I really don't understand the praise it's had. When watching it I was actually depressed at how unfunny it was. Not a single laugh for me at all. There is no memorable comedy scene, no good one liners, the plot is shit and the characters are unfunny and unlikeable. It's utterly bizarre to me how so many people love it. Bradley Cooper just comes across as a total arrogant cunt in it (and not ina funny arrogrant type of character), Ed Helsm left all his charm at The Officer and Zack Galawhothefuckcares is just the ultimate "look how weird I am" unfunny character.

Stepbrothers is the best comedy from the past few years I reckon, I really like The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard too but I think I may be the only one.

Step Brothers is class. If we're talking about quotable comedies from the last few years then that's up there.
