Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted November 9, 2010 Paid Members Share Posted November 9, 2010 Dilated Peoples -Worst Comes To Worst  This was a Mark & Lard record of the week once, and I think it was only one of two hip-hop tracks they ever had as records of the week along with Yeah That's Us by Major Figgas. Awesome track.
mikey
"Youth Explosion" by People Under The Stairs turned up on as a free song on my phone. I fucking love it and I'd never even heard of the band, let alone realise it was 10 years old.
shep
Just finished listening to Loki's mix, top drawer mate. Some old friends (love love love the Oscar Brown Jr track) and a few new ones to scribble down in my digger's note pad. Will definitely get on the case with Chest's mix too, looks a cracking tracklisting. The Light is back in my box at the moment, dropped it on Sunday. Â As for my mixes, most of my turntable time at the moment is divided between knocking up my radio shows and going through my collection, trying to get rid of a couple of thousand 12"s that I know I will never play again (I was on a lot of commercial mailing lists in the late 90s and early 00s so have already got rid of a ridiculous number of B*Witched, 911, Atomic Kitten etc promos) so that I can move in my house. Last weekend I decided to get a bit clever about how I was filing the keepers though. I currently have set aside a box of UK hip hop, a box of classic trance and so on so hopefully I can get round to dropping some mic-free mixes soon. V1mark
Been a while since I posted a mix. Knocked this up this morning. First time I have used SoundCloud and zshare so fingers crossed the links work. Recorded on the ones and twos using all original vinyl. I am rusty as hell on the decks so no audio gymnastics, just a whole bunch of bangers. As usual it is encoded at 128 kbps, if you want to hear these tracks sounding richer and deeper get digging for the originals!  SoundCloud link - http://soundcloud.com/dj-shep/dj-shep-hold...al-mixtape-2009 zshare link - http://www.zshare.net/audio/64781612dafc4ddf/  76 Minutes  Rakim - New York (Ya' Out There) Rakim - Been A Long Time KRS ONE - MCs Act Like They Don't Know Royce Da 5'9 - Hip Hop Royce Da 5'9 - Boom Jeru The Damaja - Ya Playing Yaself Gangstarr - Skills Gangstarr - Tonz 'O' Gunz Gangstarr - Mass Appeal Gangstarr - DWYCK Non Phixion - Rock Stars M.O.P. - Ante Up Pharoahe Monch - Simons Says (Skitz Original Music Mix featuring Roots Manuva & Rodney P) London Posse - Money Mad Roots Manuva - Witness (One Hope) Demon Boyz - Lyrical Culture EPMD - Strictly Business Jungle Brothers - Straight Out The Jungle Big Daddy Kane - Ain't No Hard Steppin' Biz Markie - Make The Music With Your Mouth Mantronix - Needle To The Groove Beatie Boys - Intergalactic KRS ONE - Sound Of Da Police Young Black Teenagers - Tap The Bottle Main Source - Looking At The Front Door Naughty By Nature - Hip Hop Hooray House Of Pain - Jump Around (Pete Rock Remix) Pete Rock & C L Smooth - They Reminisce Over You Jurassic 5 - Jayou Boogie Down Productions - You Must Learn (Live From Causus Moutains Remix) Dead Prez - Hip Hop   I now love you  This is going with me to the gym tonight. Loki
Nice mate! I'm sure that Stevie Wonder record is on about +12 though
shep
Guilty as charged-ish, was probably about +6. Mixing got a bit wonky towards the end but wanted to shoehorn in that track as it went off so well the night before! Glad you enjoyed it
Dynamite Duane
Nice one Shep, shall be grabbing a download. Big ups for representing at Good Times New Years Eve party, sounds wicked mate Were you doing the southside or northside party? Â BTW did you see Norman Jay on the Channel 4 toys programme on over Xmas?
shep
Northside with Steve Ellis and co in islington. It was an incredible opportunity that Norman gave us and we didn't let him down. Ace crowd, amazing vibe. I had full VIP access but was having such a blinder in the diggers room that I didn't even hit the main room let alone the VIP. Â Never saw Norman on the telly, I will take a stab in the dark - was it about his love of retro push bikes?
shep
Just checked 4OD, the Raleigh Chopper at #46 (~1 hr 17 mins into the show). I love the chrome one that he used to take to Carnival. Must have been filmed outside his gaff, the Good Times Mini Clubman is in the background even if you can't see the sign writing.
Dynamite Duane
Sounds like you had a brilliant time mate, good on Norman for giving you and Steve the opportunity I'll have to pop over to Crate Diggers forum, should imagine there's a full report with set listings
