Forrest
Tying those two questions together quite neatly, I distinctly remember chat (including pictures) of Benoit doing a diving headbutt to the outside in New Japan. That would rank really highly for me in the mental unnecessary moves stakes.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 4, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 4, 2013 Christopher Daniels bump from the Ultimate X was terrifying watching it live. I remember thinking he had to have died. Look at the positioning of the bump. He was incredibly lucky.
Paid Members air_raid Posted September 4, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 4, 2013 Mankind lobbing himself back first, blind, off the side of the Cell through the commentary table on Raw against Kane. Hasn't got a clue where he's going, just got to hope he gets the right trajectory so he doesn't bounce the back of his head off the edge of the table or just splatter on the floor. Â Mick did a lot of stupid blind falls. The one on the Boiler Room Brawl at SummerSlam '96, yanked off the apron onto the floor with the mats lifted up comes to mind as well. Paid Members JNLister Posted September 4, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 4, 2013 My favourite New Japan/Eurosport name was Nailz who was introduced by the Japanese announcer as "Nail-suh" and had his Department of Corrections number on his prison suit, so wound up being known by the commentators as Doc Nelson. The sound of his skull hitting the floor is sickening. Mind you, don't think that's as bad as being shoved off the ramp by one of the Nasty Boys. Taking that powerbomb from Vader onto the concrete was ridiculous too. Wasn't he taken off in an ambulance after that? What on earth was he thinking. Â He was thinking by wrestling a nutty style he would stand out, in hopes of it leading to fame and fortune. It did. He stated he was aware of the risks at the time and now that he's paying for it, he is accepting and not bitter.
Sexy Dad
Why did Tazz leave his announcing job in WWE back in 2009? Â Did he state at the time that he wanted an on screen role in TNA (that he briefly had) or was there some sort of falling out? It just seems like quite a bizarre move for an announcer to make thinking about it.
Paid Members air_raid Posted September 6, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 6, 2013 Why did Tazz leave his announcing job in WWE back in 2009? Â At the time different stories reported general burn-out and wanting a break, and being disillusioned with how WWE had treated ECW, which of course he had been a part of. He was only back on Smackdown since Foley had left, after all, and it sounds like he felt like he'd been put on the back-burner.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 6, 2013 Paid Members Share Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) I think it was more to do with TNA paying him more money to sit in a studio for two days for a months worth of tapings. His original TNA deal was sweet as. It still is, but at the time, TNA were doing all their stuff from a studio and he didn't have to venture out of his house much at all. In TNA there is absolutely no pressure on him, he doesn't need to take notes and announcers generally aren't in the same boat as the wrestlers. RVD's ego will be bruised if people stop recognising him. Taz probably got used to that in about 2002 when his stock as dropped massively, so he's more than learned how to adapt to his value dropping. In TNA, Taz gets his money, can do whatever he wants and can stay home forever. In WWE he was probably yelled at and called a useless fucker. Bob Ryder and Dave Lagana wouldn't have the balls to say anything to him from the headset in TNA. Taz has little value left in the business, unlike the likes of RVD and Jeff Hardy, so getting paid to be obscure in TNA is a deal he probably prefers. He has no goals left in the business. d-d-d-dAz
Can you only get official WWE merch on their US site now? Â I want to get hold of the 'Respect The Beard' shirt, but the shipping is nearly as much as the fucking shirt. Bastards. Just seems odd He was the original internet commentator. He used to go on Meltzer's radio show on Eyada.com and on his own website and really go at them about stuff. This was back in 2000/2001. WWF made him disappear. He hasn't done an interview in about 11 years. They must have threatened legally.
