I really don't think that can be justified given that 7 charges alone are for PSR charges, for which Everton and Forest have received points deductions. I think they get a huge fine for their non-cooperation and a big points deduction, 30+, for the breaches. I also think it's gonna be next year due to appeals and you'd imagine they'll try and go to CAS as they did after UEFA found them guilty previously. Man City's statement taking the moral high ground is a piece of work. I really hate these fuckers. I hope they're relegated to non-league.

Devastated to have flubbed today's brain teaser! Which club is the last to have beaten Real Madrid in the final of a European competition?

Yeah, I know it. I've watched a few and it's OK. Tony is very sharp. Mick's a bit doddery. Like almost all of these football pods, sadly, it's pretty much a betting advert. A real shame.

I like the Death Riders. I don't even think about them splitting up anymore. The Mox and Shafir dynamic is one I really like. If they do ever turn on Mox, Shafir should lead the group. Incredibly different dynamic that I don't think we've ever seen before with a woman leading a faction of men and because she's fucking bad-ass, not because they think they've got a chance of seeing some tits.

I knew it rang a bell when I read this today. I was too distracted by WWE calling it "the weekly premium program WWE Main Event". I don't expect them to say C-show but that's pushing it.

They should have pushed him to the moon. The man was jacked. His incoherent promos were a riot. He couldn't work but no-one really gave a fuck because he looked like that. That the WWF Title didn't end up on him was a crime. Justice for Ahmed. Warrior should have stayed at home after he squashed Trips.

I definitely think there's been a downturn in momentum for quite a few of their World Champions. I can't think of many for whom the win wasn't the peak. I do think that's the case for Ospreay too, I'm not suggesting the Mox match is bigger than the win at Wembley but it does feel like something that was well-thought out and maintains his momentum, he should get a big win on a big show and then you've got Andrade and MJF and whoever on the horizon.

Tony Skiavone's "Well, there he goes" after Ospreay laid out Gabe Kidd was the line of the night. Reminded me of JR at his best. Such brilliant timing. I've chuckled everytime I've thought about it. There wasn't much on the Dynamite portion of this show I didn't like. Thought Ospreay did a great job of putting the exclamation on the title match build. Don't disagree with Pat's take on the feud and the whole Ospreay/Death Riders relationship but I think they've done a decent job of making it feel like Moxley was important to Ospreay's story even if they didn't tell it that well in the first place. What it has done is give the new Champion a first PPV title defence that feels like a big deal on a big show which has been one of their weaknesses forever. I really like this match and I really like where Ospreay is at. Trios Title and Tag Titles divisions have both been a highlight for weeks and the trios match and both segments were fun enough builds for matches that have felt locked in for ages. That final shot of the Bucks on the ladder, C&C on the chairs and FTR near the table was a bit on the nose though. Very Vince production that I could live without. Thekla and WIllow are awesome. I hope the Women's title moves between these two and Mercedes a couple of times before we get the inevitable Triple Threat that should feel huge when we get there. Collision portion was quite weak, with a bunch of mismatches. I do enjoy the Fletcher/Knight team though and Andrade/Pac is incredible match-making. Bloody loved that run in. There may be 57 titles in AEW and 47 indistinguishable singles titles but when you go into a PPV with undercard title fights Okada vs. Ciampa and Andrade vs. Pac and you have Moxley and Allin as singles champs whose belts aren't even on the line, I can just forgive it. I'd love them to find a way to distinguish the titles but the Champions have, for most of the year, all being fucking brilliant wrestlers who feel like they should have gold. This doesn't feel accidental to me. Sting and Steve being lined up as their next opponents feels like a turning point for them. The match that's the most fun doesn't have to close the show. Feel like that's beeen a worry in this sort of discussion ever since WrestleMania 18. The close of this show should be Will Ospreay on top of the world having vanquished Jon Moxley, perhaps with MJF coming to set up the next challenge. Nothing comes remotely close to being as important. I think the tag and trios matches will be showstealers but I don't think that's enough to justify them headlining. TK is great at ensuring the World Title is the centre of this universe.

Anyone tried Boss 93? It's a mobile game in the style of the original Championship Manager. It's a beautiful little thing that is very faithful to the original but offers some alternate leagues and seasons to start in. Only thing I've found is it isn't as piss easy as the original so I'm about 16th in the league!

Well done, mate. Cracking shirt.

I'd forgotten about the Everybody Loves Raymond re-make, "The Smiths", which also had Catherine Tate in it. Despite owning various NGO boxsets over the years, I'd never seen the pilot footage. I like NGO. I think the first series is reallly excellent, the next couple are very good and it's been diminishing returns since Tim Vine left. It's been very hit and miss since it was remade as a family sitcom but has some good episodes, some decent guest spots and a couple of interesting concepts, like the live episode and the ones set entirely in the car. There are some dreadfully weak ones too and I don't love how much the in-laws became part of the regular cast but it's something we've stuck with, even though we watch very little actual TV these days.

In what sense? I doubt WWE worry that Will Ospreay went to AEW instead of them, for instance but, they clearly do care who works for AEW because it's easily been their biggest provider of talent for the last four years. Resigning Cody Rhodes was a major factor in their turnaround in business. CM Punk is a major factor in maintaining it. Pent and Royce Keys are important people on their TV right now. They have/had a clear interest in plenty of people who went to AEW or were established by AEW - as they should. They do now. They didn't a few years ago. They possibly won't in a few more years. Wrestling changes all the time as talent come and go and fans come and go. It's a solid business overall, clearly but, it's also a business receiving a hell of a lot of money in rights deals that have to maintain their worth so ups and downs will definitely come. That would make a huge difference to both. I don't disagree too much with your overall point but I think this completely misses the point that people still tune in to watch big stars. Roman is clearly the biggest. He's going nowhere, except Hollywood, but, he'd pique massive amounts of interest in another company and be a major blow to the rep of WWE. They've done a fantastic job of making the company seem like the star over the last couple of decades, and the letters WWE are definitely the industry standard, but no matter how much they would like to claim it's the only draw or that it's an ensemble cast, there is no doubt that John Cena was their most important talent for 15 years, that Vince finally getting Roman Reigns right was the catalyst for their upturn in business, that signing Cody Rhodes was the key to two hugely successful WrestleManias. If Roman, Cody and Rollins all popped up on AEW, there'd be a massive change in the narrative, in the eye balls on AEW and in the questions asked of WWE and TKO. It's never going to happen, so all hypothetical but let's never pretend the wrestlers don't matter.

I enjoyed this! 😂

His longevity is incredibly impressive, given his knees were fucked in 1998. He was revolutionary in the mid 90s and his style was something you had to see at the time. There's chatter in another thread about the Halloween Havoc match with Eddie and to look back on it now and not consider how it made you feel the first time you saw it is to do it a disservice. Seeing Rey for the first time was mind-blowing. He's absolutely nowhere near the top tier, for me. I can see why WWE want him to be and push him out but he has several black marks against him. Any time he was put into a position high up the card, it was rubbish. The stuff he was part of in 2006 was, frankly, sick as fuck and he deserved every booing. I dunno if he's a big fanny or what, but he's also let himself be part of some truly atrocious stuff. Whether that's losing his mask, losing his "eye", being in horrific factions like the Filthy Animals, being a jobber World Champion, putting his own kid in an angle, and on the line in a match, etc. He's got a catalogue that includes some all-time dirt-worst stuff. In terms of Cruiserwight Wrestlers in US promotions, I think he's the best ever for that initial run. On an all-time list, I don't think he'd make my top 50.

Great job, Frankie. My favourite answer was the average languages spoken. 1.4 is a damning representation of this country. Especially when the .4 is Butch's bits of Welsh. Devastated to find out we have 7 tories. Obviously SuperBacon is one but, who are the other 6?

That happens all the time. I don't subscribe to HHH's view, that he trots out everytime he's dropped the ball with someone, that you get over and then you get the opportunity but, I do think you have to show something in order to justify being put in spots that are important to the company's success. That goes for midcard male wrestlers all the time. AEW could decide to present Daniel Garcia as a main event level wrestler tomorrow but it's not going to be the case. A lot of the women are on a similar level. I think they're great and valuable but I don't think it's justified that they are pushed anymore than Garcia because they're women. However, when they're clearly showing that they have everything necessary to be draws, like Toni most obviously, Britt Baker for a bit (or perhaps more fairly, the combo of Britt and Thunder Rosa), Mercedes has been for a long time and Willow Nightingale has been utterly inevitable for the last year. That has been rewarded with spots and promotion worthy of really high level talent. I know the exception is that they haven't main evented a PPV but I still think that's only because there's been a more important match on most shows, other than Toni v Mariah, which was almsot certainly because Mariah was leaving. I would never begrudge the women a spot in the main event if that's what the company decided. I do absolutely love Toni, Willow and Mercedes. I just wouldn't be being honest if I claimed on here that I'd have headlined the women above the AEW World Championship except for Toni vs. Mariah because I wouldn't. But I do see a time where Toni vs. Mercedes and Toni vs. Willow are two of the biggest matches they have and they have to make a decision, or make sure the AEW Champion is in some sort of multi-man match so the Women's Title takes the spotlight without shitting on themselves. I'm being petty but I don't think Thekla is anywhere near the level of the rest of that list. Albeit, she is super entertaining and should get there eventually.

Agree with Pat and Twoster about the overall quality of the women in WWE, on average, they're about 3000% better than they were years ago. This isn't me just sticking the boot into them because I hate them, but the elephant in the room is the fact that they put the women in TV main events and PPV main events as a PR excercise. The whole Women's revolution was off the back of a social media campaign and instead of building to anything organically, they just had Stephanie come out and do their favourite - tell not show. Those women were super talented and Ronda came in as a big name but they did it all so they could tell everyone how progressive they were. You still had Saudi shows with no women on, or women wrestling in Power Ranger outfits and Mickie James being chucked out on the street with her stuff in a bin bag. Their women's only PPV was only there to deflect criticism from the Saudi Shitshows. They were so progressive, it took seven years to have a second one. I don't actually mind women being secondary for the most part. I'm a big supporter of women's sport, football particularly (and obviously), but I don't like women's combat sports. No matter how incredible a Katie Taylor or Ronda Rousey is, I still don't love watching it. I'm not quite as prudish when it comes to wrestling, for obvious reasons, but there's still something a little off about it that means I'm only invested when it's really good. Becky Lynch's run that time, the horsewomen in NXT, Britt Baker being the best act in AEW, Toni Storm being the most brilliant wrestler in the World, Toni & Mariah, Willow Nightingale being a generationally brilliant babyface. Those things needed highlighting. Otherwise, I don't have any issue with the women being on the level of the midcard men. There's an honesty to it that they're good but not the reason people are buying the show. There should be no problem with that being the case. From a representation POV, there is much better representation for young girls and women on all the shows now. WWE, NXT, AEW, TNA, they all feature women in tons of roles. When those women cross that threshold into genuine drawing cards, as they definitely have done, then that should be rewarded too. But not just because you want to tell the world how progressive you are, without ever being progressive.

Maybe move the donations to something like Buy Me A Coffee where you could have a small monthly fee to ensure regular donations? I know you've always been keen not to take too much money and we're all grateful but it'd be only fair that it's a shared cost rather than you stumping up.

Bloody hell, those were the days. Used to spend hours on MSN chatting to Lawz, Guts and loads of people who were into tape trading. Used to tell my missus was having an affair so she didn't know I was talking to men about wrestling.
-
Could sign off your posts "-with a toothbrush" but that might be gimmick infringement.

We taped this off the telly years ago. One Sunday afternoon, the in-laws were over and I wanted to show them something we'd recorded of the baby. Pressed play on the video, completely forgetting we'd been watching this the night before and instead of granddaughter in a ball pool, they got Madonna riding Willem Dafoe.
