The general word about my office (which is a little cold) is They were prostitutes...if they were not prostitutes they would not be dead.

Then there's a lot of people in your office who know very little about the subject. I'm no expert but lets face it, I doubt many of these girls do it because they like sex with strange men.

You must understand,99% of my office workers are the real scum of the earth that deserve to be butchered .

At least your attitude is alot better then there's. I'm sure they'd soon change their tune if their sister, daughter, neice or whatever turned up dead and they discovered that for whatever reason she's been working the streets.

I read an alarming article in a paper today (either the Sun or Daily Record- nothing highbrow) that contained a quote from a fellow prostitute in the area along the lines of "we are all worried, but we still need to work in order to get money for drugs"The serial killer is either some nutter "cleaning up the streets" or a very disgruntled former client. Is it 3 dead, 2 reported missing and one other possibly connected death so far?

What were you expecting them to say? "I'm a bit scared about the murders and all, but I love being a pro so much I can't stop"My best friend, who has a shelf of books about Peter Suttcliffe, is far too excited about all this. I'm going to shop him.

And another thing. I'm not trying to defend the murderer, but the media outlets (Sky, BBC) need to remember that prostitution is very much illegal in this country. Half of it is the girls fault for being out there.

Christ. Also, I love me a good serial killer media frenzy. Only time will tell if it's as awesome as the Beltway Sniper (remember, a couple years back, Washington DC, constant random sniperings?)The fact that the guy's almost certainly TwoSheds is the icing on the cake.

It wasnt all that unepxected, as drug addiction and prostitution are often linked to each other. I just found it rather alarming that someone was willing to continue working in such a manner despite the obvious risks.A more sensible thing to do would be to say: "There's a much bigger chance than usual i might get killed if i work tonight, so i wont"

Firstly it is worth pointing out that it is NOT just prostitues at risk. The Yorkshire Ripper killed various women, about half of whom were not prostitues. It may well be the case that he targets people who are easy victims and that fact that they are prostitues is not of major relevance to the killer. That said, it is obvious that prostitues are a major target and in serious danger. The fact that ladies are still " working " implies that there are still active " customers " in the area- which in itself is a disgrace.

I'm half considering donning a wig, dress and heels and tottering around Ipswich, in case this guy does turn out to be the new Ripper, so that I can be immortalised as a disembowled waxwork in the 2206 Chamber Of Horrors exhibit. Perhaps even possessing the 23rd century version of Derek Acorah on some HD hologram-show.

Now I'm sure I've read something from a similar case before... ;)

I used to walk past the prostitutes on my way home aswell.

Yeah, right. I bet you stopped for a handjob every time.

I was thinking about Prostitutes the other day (not in that way!). I was reading about a porn star and how much she just loved being fucked. I know some (most?) Pro's do it out of desperation, but how many actually enjoy it?And aside from the varying degree's of pay, what is the difference between a porn star and a prostitute? They both have sex for money. Why is it so frowned upon? Surely it's like porn, page 3, etc. They use their body to make a living. Isn't that their choice? Plenty of people shag around for free, that isn't illegal.

And another thing. I'm not trying to defend the murderer, but the media outlets (Sky, BBC) need to remember that prostitution is very much illegal in this country. Half of it is the girls fault for being out there.

You're a fucking idiot, sometimes, Baz. They are no different from any other woman, just a bit wider. It may be illegal, but it's pretty harmless compared with most illegal activity.

I think its fair to say there are two classes. Those who work on the street and those who work in "Parlours." Street Prostitues are most likley doing it out of sheer desperation, a need for money - drugs etc. Parlour prostitues are much safer (and in some countries legal), and I would assume that is where some careers girls work IE people who treat is as a lucrative career, not as a quick habit to fund drugs etc.

See this post? I'm typing it reaching up from the floor, having fallen off my chair laughing.

According to Sky News website, police haven'tr confirmed the identities of the most recent bodies, nor would they confirm if they were naked. So as it stands, we don't officially have a serial killer on our hands, but I think we all know what to expect.Out of interest, who was the last serial killer this country had? Obviously you have Fred West and his bitch, but that was slightly different in that the murders were discovered after his arrest rather than before.
