I think what ended up happening with Sid would've happened with Warrior. He would've gotten the Shawn match, won the belt, veered into that high level of credibility he had in '92 when he wrestled Savage and was against Flair, then would've spun off as he always did, much like Sid.

Warrior's promos in 96 were less caffeine or cocaine fueled. They came across a bit sanctimonious and boring. Michaels cuts him off in the promo below hilariously before he'd finished his bullshit 🤣

Thank fuck he threw a paddy then because we got Sid in his best run ever. Best thing Warrior ever did was giving us Sidney walking out at Survivors 96 looking like the absolute business.

Should have sent him to ECW for seasoning aswell given the time frame. If it's good enough for Williams and Gordy then Warrior can show up and team with the Gangstas

Sid’s first proper appearance in WWF was as the referee in the Summerslam 1991 main event but then Warrior left straight after that match. Then Warrior returned in the main event of Wrestlemania 8 with Hogan vs Sid and then Sid left shortly after that. Then when Warrior left in 1996, Sid replaced him, and by the time Sid returned to WCW, Warrior had been and gone.

Think Warrior vs Sid was on some house shows just before Sid left the WWF in 92 as well.

Yeah that was meant to be a big program following WrestleMania VIII, kickstarted by the post-match at Mania. Cagematch reckons they only worked twice - on the same day, as well.

Yeah, and there's so much in that with Sid, because he admits to failing a steroid test after trying to get Harvey to give a sample for him. I think he probably saw the writing on the wall too because he probably would've done a bunch of jobs to Warrior and then probably would've been in the Kamala spot with the Undertaker and then a case of "See from there".

There was a pretty funny story involving him in the Jim Herd shoot interview when Herd and Sid were at an impasse on money.

Sid: "How about I throw you out that window?"

Herd: "Try it if you can think you can do it before I shoot you first."

You just know Austin was gonna be fed to Warrior on a random Raw sometime in 96 if Warrior stuck around. They were gonna keep feeding him midcarders and, from the way they presented Austin in the first half of the year, and even in the few months after KOTR, it’s clear they didn’t really know what they had on their hands with Austin until Bret came back. I could absolutely see it happening. Not that Austin couldn’t have came back from it. If Triple H did (with a bunch of help and political bollocks) then Austin definitely could on sheer talent and drive. But it’s mad to think Warrior vs Austin is even a match that could’ve happened, and especially knowing it was probably ending with Warrior’s hands raised in four minutes tops. If they’d have brought Warrior back in late 97 as Vince was trying though, different story. Austin had obviously taken off by then and was well on his way to becoming the champ at Mania. Crazy what a difference 18 months makes.

Oh, for god's sake - I'd completely forgotten that, and I watched it as a kid! I remember being absolutely thrilled to see Warrior running down the aisle, as I started watching at the end of 1991, and always felt I'd missed out after hearing all my junior school mates going on about him (and, because promotions rarely acknowledge exits, I didn't know why he was never around when I started watching). 

I must admit I'd have liked to have seen one of those house show matches to see what the dynamic was like. Probably wasn't up to much, but given how both guys were both pushed as monsters (of a sort), would have been interesting to see what they did.

According to Sid those Warrior matches were the final straw in why he quit.
