That makes so much sense - at the time I thought it was impressive that Earache promoted all these huge bands, but actually it was just the 3 I'd not heard of before and the rest were from the US release.

It was impressive the bands ECW managed to get for the album.

Did anyone have the WCW Mayhem album? I was done with WCW by the time this came out, right at the end of '99 but looking at it now it has some bangers but also very odd choices like wrestler theme songs being cut down to a minute while random hip-hop and metal tracks are in full. What shite.

I did (still do) indeed - remember vividly picking it up at Revolution Records in Diss one sixth form lunchtime.

The truncated entrance themes were pretty much used as bumpers between the "real" tracks. At the time I was very much drawn to the metal stuff not the hip hop, I'd be interested to revisit it and see how I feel now. 

Had an absolutely belting live version of Seek and Destroy on it.

I remember seeing the WCW Mayhem album in Sydney Scarbough, aka the greatest record shop the world has ever known, and it was another version that Sting on the cover rather than Bill Goldberg. Don’t think the track listing was any different but I believe it’s a little rarer to find.

Never actually hear it but looking at the track listing for it I’d have probably enjoyed most of it. Not ‘Crush ‘em’ by Megadeth though, that was fucking shit

Weird that you were into the metal ones and not the hip hop. You'd think you'd be into Diss tracks.

I know there was Stone Cold Metal (I think promoted as handpicked) but was there a country album as well?

Well there you go, never knew that existed. 

I quite like the cover - I think the lenticular of him morphing into a rattlesnake is kinda cool. Apparently the album also came with a mini poster, good VFM.

I prefer it to the lenticular on the Metal album, which looks a lot more basic

Had never heard of either of those - the country one is a way better track listing than I'd have imagined for a compilation released in 1999.

Start with Waylon, end with Willie. Everything else in the middle is a bonus.

Bands covering superstars themes needs to be brought back. Only because I woke at half five this morning - probably with this thread in my subconscious - with the notion of the Manic Street Preachers doing Mr. Ass's theme and I laughed myself back to sleep.
