A boring choice? Who predicted Mox winning even before the semi final last night?

Unpredictable doesn't necessarily mean less boring though. It'll depend how it pans out. Mox could be great with it or it might end up a bad choice. Only time will tell on that.

If he sticks the Continental Title in his briefcase, and promises us it’s not coming out until next year’s tournament, giving us one less belt in AEW, it’ll fully cement him as a babyface again.

Despite some underwhelming booking going in and out from a strictly in ring stand point this was a good show.

The tag titles street fight was great. Filled with rough brawling, loads of selling, lovely punches and babyface fire. They didn't do convoluted hardcore matcg spots, they were fighting. Austin Gunn and Cash Wheeler are two of my Boys and I enjoyed it immensely. Hilarious Stokely bump too - ouch!

Statlander/Hayter deserved a better story going in because the match was an epic belter. They absolutely leathered eachother. They really should have ended it on that insane head drop from the top rope though. I wanna see another one from them!

Mixed Nuts was the type of insanely fun big tag match you only see in AEW. Filled to the brim with excitement and fun creative moments. Toni Storm is getting to the point where she is becoming a Special Attraction all on her own. She could be AEW's bizzaro version of The Undertaker in a way if they pushed her as such. Every time she interacts with someone new it feels like a big deal. If they're not plotting out a Toni Storm/Orange Cassidy friendship or romance angle after this match then they are missing an open goal.

Main event was probably the worst match on the show. Like all four way matches it was just a bunch of stuff. The fans only really coming up for the Swerve/Hangman interactions tells you all you need to know about what a booking misfire they've made with all this.

For all the pointless titles AEW has introduced, they’ve missed a real trick in not having mixed gender tag belts. There have been a lot of fun interactions between male and female wrestlers in AEW - the Death Riders trying to recruit Statlander, Storm confronting Moxley and Orange/Storm for example - and a mixed tag division would open up a lot of interesting storyline possibilities while also giving wrestlers more people to work with when it comes to growing as characters.

If they ever have a cull of the junk titles, it’s something they should consider.

Are you ACTUALLY watching AEW Twoster... Because why would they junk a title for another title and instead just add another title. More titles in wrestling Red, sniff it!

New fear unlocked; with the way Tony Khan oftentimes books symmetrically (for example, Statlander vs. Mercedes happening at both Full Gear 2024 and 2025), he’s put the belt on Samoa Joe so he can revisit Samoa Joe vs. MJF at World’s End.

I posted the above in the Full Gear thread and I would like to apologise to everyone for putting it out into the Universe. Even in my wildest nightmares, I never thought they’d actually put the belt back on MJF, but here we are. Like ripping two years worth of chapters out of a book. Back to Square One. Square Shit. 4Chan Strikes Back.

Worse still, I saw loads of people praising the symmetrical booking and , “clever,” call backs, like MJF wearing similar black and gold gear to what Joe wore when he beat him for the belt in 2023.

Game’s gone. I’m all for call backs, cameos and clever references, but not at the expense of everything else. Not when this is all you have. There has to be some actual substance on top! Winds me up no end that Hangman’s second reign arguably ended up even worse than his first, and for what? To be right back where we were two years ago. What many consider the worst period in company history.

Honestly, the only positive I can think of is that maybe this means Adam Cole is healthy and they plan on revisiting that storyline. Not that I want to see it, it was a complete fucking embarrassment by the end, but it’d at least be nice if Cole was okay. Seems a lovely chap in real life.

Having now seen the show, all I can do is mostly echo everyone else. Wildly great action. Wildly bizarre booking decisions.

Highlight of the show was Moxley’s babyface turn. I was genuinely buzzing for him. Well deserved. What a turnaround, both within the fiction and on a meta level. Never thought I’d enjoy him again after his daft crime spree a year ago. I’m going to pop huge the day, “Wild Thing,” hits.

For a man who has some of the cringiest mannerisms in wrestling, it’s crazy how authentic Mox feels when he cuts those rambling, “for the love of the game,” promos. There’s nothing more believable than this man’s dedication for this nonsense. The Shield group chat must be wild. Roman complaining he has to work double figure matches this year. Moxley talking about how he’s flying to every fucking show and working as much as humanly possible. And Seth presumably just copying and pasting WWE propaganda.
