Sorry I didn't watch his pre AEW work. Maybe you have.

I'm not sure you've watched his AEW work, to be honest. I think you've skim read Twitter whilst doing something else, at best.

Yeah MJF can be a bit iffy and off on occasions but to say everything he does is that edgelord shit is a bag of poppycock. His work is always the best with stuff like the Punk angle or the early stuff with Adam Cole when he lets his obvious insecurities that he masks by being a cunt to shine through. He's one of the more nuanced characters even in AEW, it's just he's had a very fallow period after a bit return and it stunted opinion of him somewhat.

And I know due to years of shitness everyone's forgotten it but the story with Jericho was really good and had loads of fun moments.

Pains me to say as essentially a lifelong Jericho fan, but I think the MJF feud was the last time Jericho's work was consistently great. It's been mostly downhill since for Jericho.

As for MJF, it was a high point for him as well. Afterwards, he went to the Punk feud- also great- and the world title run, which started great and got muddied with the Better Than You Bay-Bay stuff and the Devil storyline. I thought BTYBB was fun comedic stuff mostly, although they made it work well enough for the Wembley show with higher stakes, I honestly didn't love it as a stadium show main event. Then, Cole got hurt, the Devil thing sucked, then MJF took time off and it's been VERY shaky since he came back. His character just feels a bit... played out, and that's a tad worrying to say about a 29 year old wrestler.

Turning back heel so quick after his return was a mistake, I think. Fans didn't want to boo him and there was a lot to still bring out of his character finally having a secure attachment with the fans, and exploring what he would do when his only friend turns on him, but without going all the way back. Not sure why they did it, to be honest.

I haven't seen his pre-AEW work either.

I’d always worry that he’d turn in to the new Miz in WWE. He’s far better than that but the fed has a way of taking something good and boiling it down to its shittest bare bones.
