Paid Members Jazzy G Posted September 9 Paid Members Posted September 9 Looks like they're getting even more Soulslike with the Kirby series, which is an odd direction to go but I did see some people half jokingly describe the last one as čKirby Souls". I got much more excited than I probably should have about that Metal Slug collection. There were a couple of games trailed that looked like they could be fun to play co-op with Vicky. It Takes Two is coming, I don't know which of us will play as Rob Base and who'll be DJ E-Z Rock. Vicky got got excited about the new Professor Layton game. I'm pretty sure I already have Resident Evil 4 on Switch, so wonder whether I'm eligible for a reduced upgrade or something for that Gold Edition. Switch Sports resort could be fun. I was wondering whether they'd have said anything about next month's rumoured Pokémon Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald releases, but that'd be something for a Pokémon direct with more news about Wind/Waves, I guess. Paid Members RedTwoster Posted yesterday at 03:58 PM Author Paid Members Posted yesterday at 03:58 PM I didn't really care about the Ocarina of Time remake, but today the previews have been published (link to a VGC preview by the excellent Chris Scullion...who is also a wrestling fan, so may well be a poster on here...) and they're absolutely glowing. It seems it's not, as it first appeared, a 1:1 remake and the gameplay is sensational. You can fuck your GTA VI, this is the November game I'm most excited about (assuming I'm finished with Final Fantasy Resonance by that point, which I'm also buzzing for) I'd been a bit down on the most recent Nintendo Direct, but goodness me, I've had a great year of gaming with my Switch 2. My PS5 has been gathering dust. Quote
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted 16 hours ago Paid Members Posted 16 hours ago Oh yeah, I bought a Switch 2! My brother kept telling me to wait until Black Friday like they're going to be flogging them at 50% off or something. But I saw the Mario Kart World package on Amazon for £414 so I went for it. Been playing Mario Wonder on it. I've said it before but there's nothing quite like a Mario game, just an awesome game with such a variety of levels, items and ideas. The sound is incredible and I don't normally notice that kind of thing. I want to get Mario Kart 8 before I play Mario Kart World though so that might be my next purchase. Quote

Wonder seems to have split opinion. I felt it was brilliant, had very old school Mario elements but with the added wonder seeds, which I loved. Also not a super hard game but challenging which is a hard balance but they got it right. Quote

Like @westlondonmist, I loved Wonder and I thought the consensus was that it was the best 2D Mario platformer since World on the SNES, but perhaps I've missed some division between fans on social media. One game that is definitely divisive is Mario Kart World and I think most people prefer 8. I'm not one of them. I really loved World and have put hours into it. The open world could have had a bit more to do - or at least a way of logging your progress, but I still enjoyed farting around in it and doing challenges. In terms of recommendations - Splatoon Raiders is a very enjoyable game, and I say that as someone who has not given much love to the Splatoon series in general. Donkey Kong Bananza is my favourite Nintendo platformer - 2D or 3D - in years, and it's so creative and clever that I can't imagine you would not have fun playing your way through it. Pokopia is something you could easily sink hours/days/weeks into. If you're into tactical RPGs, you can't go wrong with the new Fire Emblem. Althought it's available on other systems, I loved playing Pragmata on the Switch and almost every AAA port I've played so far has worked incredibly well, with the portability more than outweighing the graphical downgrade. The Elden Ring port has given me another excuse to play through that game again and the port of Oblivion has been my favourite way to play that particular game. The Indiana Jones and Cyberpunk ports are also fantastic - and both on the cartridge, rather than being Game Keycards. So yeah, you've a lot of great gaming ahead of you. Quote
westlondonmist Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I love Mario Kart World, but it took me a while to get my head round it. I'd also say it's quite different to 8 and having both isn't a bad thing, I swap between the two. I didn't think much of Bananza though. It's alright but didn't really feel bothered about not finishing it. Quote

Yeah I completely agree with this. 8 offered so much and covered so many different things that World really did need to be different, so I don't really compare them. They're both really good in their own right. Quote
