What on earth has happened to tag wrestling?

Hopefully the return of the War Raiders, given a proper NXT run treatment, and the debut of the Motor City Machine Guns gives both main roster tag divisions in WWE a shot in the arm, Raw especially as the belts need to come off Balor and McDonagh. Smackdown at least has tried having ‘proper’ teams hold their belts in A-Town Down Under, DIY and GOD (Bloodline) with the Street Profits there as well. Over on Raw you have under Judgement Day the following 

New Day - at odds with each other

American Made - who should be champs

AOP - lost in the Kross sized chasm

Alpha Academy - haven’t been the same since the Gable split

War Raiders - only returned last night (week)

LWO - based on the contenders tournament they’re pushing Rey and Dragon Lee over Del Toro and Wilde

Wyatt Sicks - haven’t been seen since the feud with American Made ended

Smackdown besides the 5 teams mentioned have the following also

Corbin/Crews - makeshift team gone awol again

Pretty Deadly - spent more time doing skits than actually wrestling 

LDF - been lackeys to Santos

Gallows/Anderson - technically still SD talent but spent more time feuding with NXT teams

Gallows and Anderson, hiding in catering every Friday afternoon.

The craziest thing is that whenever they inevitably get released from WWE, you just know AEW will re-sign them.

In terms of talent and worth vs. contracts obtained, they’re probably the best workers in the business today.

Inside wrestling and out the Mone's have it Supes. Michelle the covid fiddler and Mercedes the dreadful wrestler. Put those two together in a tag team.

I don't think it'd be hugely difficult to fix AEW's tag division. They have the talent, they just need to drop the dead weight, reconfigure and put some effort into it.

They need to drop Top Flight, Private Party and The Acclaimed. These teams have either done it all or are going fucking nowhere.

Rush and Beast Mortos should be major dominant players. Call them The Bull and The Beast.

I'd build the new tag division mainly around The Gunns. They are so good.

Kyle O'Reilly and Roderick Strong are great wrestlers without a huge amount going on. They'd make a good team (and obviously there's history there).

Hook and Shibata have teamed before. Together they have a weird and unique charisma that just works. Make them a proper full time team for awhile.

House of Black - have Brody do singles for a bit and push Malakai Black/Buddy Matthews as a proper team. They'd have some crackers.

When Wardlow and Powerhouse Hobbs are healthy have them team up as big hosses. Call them WARPOWER.

Kommander and Hologram as your wacky spots lucha team.

Make The Learning Tree a tag act rather than a Jericho singles act. Jericho is still decent in tags and him and Bill would be a valuable permanent addition to the tag scene.

There must be someone you could team Brian Cage up with. Maybe Lance Archer as some kind of monster midcard heels.

Sammy Guevara might learn something from Dustin Rhodes if he sticks with him long term. Call them The Sons of Texas.

Then with all the above you've also got FTR, the Bucks, GYV, The Outrunners and MXM Collection. That's 15 good teams minimum that all offer something unique that you can build a vibrant tag scene with.
