Also, I got SSF2T for free on the PS Store downloaded on the PS3 before we had to do a factory reset, and though I was able to get to Akuma on the "softened for home play" difficulty (as opposed to the "and this was the bastard in the arcade" levels) - I never beat him. Not fucking once. Which I imagine would have been frustrating in an arcade in Blackpool too. There's a great video of Daigo trying to fight Akuma and 1cc the version of Super Turbo on the 30th anniversary collection. It takes him a while. Quote
Paid Members Surf Digby Posted June 5, 2024 Paid Members Posted June 5, 2024 To this day, I've never played any version of SF2 in Blackpool. The first time I played it, when it first came out and was the hottest game around, was at Pleasureland in Morecambe. They had three or four of them set up with massive screens, and the controls on a sort of desk with a bench for you to sit on. As they weren't in the official cabinets, there were no instructions and the buttons were unlabelled, so I just got totally flummoxed by the six buttons and was quickly trounced. I think I was Guile. Paid Members air_raid Posted August 6, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 6, 2024 (edited) Revisiting this. I’m in Blackpool as we speak, and I’m not having it. Even if you’re immune to pun establishment names like Slots Of Fun, Shenanigans and Wok Inn, there’s the brilliant flooring by the Tower where as well as shite like Garlic Bread, they’ve also got the actual best of British comedy quoted. The cream of our discharge. Edited August 6, 2024 by air_raid My father only ever hit me once. He used the Volvo. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 It's the air show on this weekend. I only moved here last year and one of the best surprises was I can look out my bedroom window and watch the Red Arrows take off in formation at the end of my road. Half the planes in the air show take off from Blackpool Airport so I get a mad view of loads of them. The Red Arrows are the highlight though, this is what the massive show off's do when they arrive the day before. Skip to 9.35 to see. That's not me btw just a local bloke who films everything round here. I live on the estate you see on the left. The video can't do justice to just how bloody loud they are. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted August 6, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 6, 2024 That's lovely for you Jimmy Bobbins, but I live two miles from the end of the runway of the Red Arrows home base, and the cunts buzz my house most days. Quote
Cousin Jim Bob Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Yes once a year is nice and exciting. I'm sure it gets old very fast if its almost everyday. Quote
Paid Members air_raid Posted August 6, 2024 Paid Members Posted August 6, 2024 We saw Spitfire replicas flying today. It was the highlight for papa-in-law, mine will come up in Chippy Tea. Quote
