As funny as the whole thing with WWE giving Sadiq Khan a teeny little belt was, I'm guessing it was something to do with bribery laws, and the level of gift he could accept? A miniature is fine, but a real belt worth hundreds to thousands would be an issue?

I don’t think they gave him that belt. Regardless I’m sure he could have had his picture taken with the actual belt and been given something as a keep sake. Because how comes Tony has done it if bribery was the issue? I always assumed they hadn’t planned on the photo op and someone had to nip to Hamleys to get something.

Also, replica belts cost £100’s not thousands.

Tony said he was unveiling the belt and posing with it, not giving it to him. HHH has done the belt thing all over, but not in the UK much and not necessarily with public servants. There's definitely a limit on gifts he can be given - I can't see why WWE would have done the tiny belt thing if not to keep within those guidelines. It was a baffling decision for everyone involved.

I'm not saying I know what's happened, but this sequence of events makes sense to me. WWE does the gift-giving because that's how you do business, they hit rules and regulations in the UK and produce something they can give him. And Tony Khan just does the photo op with the belt being unveiled, rather than giving it as a gift.
