Since you are a Dynamite only viewer why don't you just wait for the next episode to see what happens. I’d put the same questions to you as I did Hannibal. 3 hours ago, RedTwoster said: I’ll answer your question with a question - do you honestly think doing this was a good idea? And a supplementary question - let’s say Becky Lynch returns to WWE at the end of RAW next week - would having her comeback match take place on WWE Speed two days later with no on-screen advertising be a good idea? Or take the same example, imagine WWE still at Heat and apply it to that. Does it destroy Toni Storm? Obviously not, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a bad idea. Paid Members LaGoosh Posted December 14, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 14, 2024 I think the general reaction to this just highlights how badly AEW has ignored Rampage. To the point where any time anything of any note happens on it people get annoyed that it happened on Rampage rather than a show they actually watch. If AEW hadn't neglected and totally mismanaged it for the past year people wouldn't be reacting the same way. Quote

That’s not how asking a question works. But I’ll actually answer and say I don’t think it was a bad or a good idea. Because I’m going to watch Rampage to see the match because, of late, it’s been an enjoyable hour to watch. But comparing a Toni Storm match on an actual TV show and comparing it to a stupid little thing they show on the hellscape known as X.com in a tournament format of 3 minute matches isn’t the same is it. This is being petulant for no reason. Quote

This is being petulant for no reason. Talking about viewership is dull - but on average, more people (bizarrely) watched each episode off Speed than do any episode of Rampage. And it’s not being petulant - there’s a point to my question; that being, no one is actually explaining why it was a good idea to place her return match on Rampage with no prior on-screen advertising; you’re just arguing why you think it doesn’t matter. They had a cliffhanger on Dynamite - Storm was back in her old gimmick, leaving you with questions - why is she no longer Timeless? What does she think about Mariah? How does she feel after all of that time out? Rather than rush her out onto Rampage and Collision, it makes much more sense to pace yourself, and have her answer at least some of those questions on the next Dynamite, then doing the match if you wish - actually advertising it on TV. Make her feel like a big deal, because she is a big deal. You can argue ‘why should you do it?’ and my response would be ‘why wouldn’t you?’ You have an ice cold product and a character who isn’t - why squander what you have, by rushing through special moments? Give people things to look forward to. Quote

Simply not true. Because the viewership on X is completely skewed because like TikTok if a video autoplays, even if you only watch a few seconds it counts as a few. It’s also what, a 4 minute clip on a social media platform, so millions of people would have access to it for that purpose alone. besides, the Timeless arc was well done, I’m pretty sure we can let them present it as they want to because they probably know better about what they want and how they want to do it then we do. It would never happen. 16 minutes ago, Hannibal Scorch said: besides, the Timeless arc was well done, I’m pretty sure we can let them present it as they want to because they probably know better about what they want and how they want to do it then we do. So your argument has morphed into ‘trust AEW, they know what they’re doing’? Even if they hadn’t been squandering things left, right and centre, it’s hard to see what grand masterplan this would feed into. It was a bit silly, and I suspect that deep down you know that. I say this with love, Hannibal - you’re a great guy, and I genuinely hope I love any form of entertainment the way you love AEW. But I think your instinct is to view everything they do through a positive lens. That’s not a bad thing or a criticism. But I reckon they could have Excalibur and Schiavone spontaneously replicate Two Girls One Cup in the middle of a Bryan Danielson’s return match and you’d find something positive to say about it. Again, that’s not a negative trait - I’d much rather have your positive outlook than be the cynical twat that I am - but we should probably accept we’re going to disagree on this one! Paid Members Supremo Posted December 16, 2024 Paid Members Posted December 16, 2024 (edited) Having now seen Rampage, the entire angle is perfectly explained by - you guessed it - the Queen of Rampage, Harley Cameron. Screaming down the camera lens to send us to an ad break, “we’ll be right back if this idiot remembers who she is!” Harley rules. Then, now, forever. Great to see Toni pick up her first victory. I think she’s got a bright future in this company. Rookie of the year. Matt Cardona having the nickname, “The Complete,” is funny. The Complete Nothing. Waste of space, that lad. Chris Jericho randomly wearing a baseball cap was a bit sus though. Made me realise he’s been wearing cowboy hats for a good few weeks now. Wonder if he’s been to MJF’s surgeon. Or maybe he just ran out of boot polish for the hairline. Edited December 16, 2024 by Supremo Quote

Shouldn’t that be the case? I mean what’s the point of having other shows if not to get people to watch them? As she thinks this is her debut, it makes sense for her to fight on Rampage and Collision as is often what has happened with new talent just starting there. NOW, with that said, historically AEW have done a bad job of keeping people up to date with important stuff that’s happened elsewhere in between Dynamites. Relying on people watching clips on social media or YT clips. They have done better of late, but it will be interesting to see what they do this week. But I think having Rockstar Toni Storm do what she’s done so far, makes sense to me. Quote

People only have so much time on their hands, and to have not one, but two Toni Storm angles in between the previous show and this one isn’t the best way to go, in my opinion. Collision and Rampage have, for the longest time, been home to irrelevance, or lower-card stories. If you’re going to start making them count, at least advertise what’s going to happen on television. I’m still of the view that most of AEW’s problems wouldn’t exist if Collision, ROH and, to a lesser extent, Rampage simply hadn’t happened. Quote
Mowgli Posted December 16, 2024 Posted December 16, 2024 I really don’t want to agree with @Hannibal Scorch but I think he is right. My opinion (where this post probably goes wrong) is Toni believes she is the rookie, she should be on the ‘lesser show’. I’m only getting this from clips on X but it seems to make sense, she was so pumped to be on AEW TV and it didn’t matter that it was ‘only Rampage’. Quote
