Dai Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Whats with the symbols after the fighters rankings? Never seen thay before. Strange as well, as during the PPV announcement, Prates still had his #2 ranking. That's the Meta logo isnt it? Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 25 Author Paid Members Posted October 25 Yeah, the rankings are now determined by Meta. What are the Meta UFC Rankings? Data-driven model: Launched on June 22, 2026, the UFC replaced its 13-year-old media-voted panel with an automated, Elo-style mathematical system developed in partnership with Meta. How it works: Ratings are calculated automatically every Monday after fight events. Win-loss results and opponent quality make up about 95% of a fighter's score. Activity and finishes: Fighters get a rating boost for staying active or scoring finishes, while long layoffs lead to inactivity penalties. No P4P list: The system removed the traditional pound-for-pound rankings. Quote
Dai Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Ah cheers for posting that. A revolutionary AI ranking system, 13 years in the making, where wins and losses make up 95% of the determination. Ground breaking stuff! I know they are a sham and get ignored and/or manipulated all the time so are worthless, but theres no way you should get bonus marks for staying 'active'. Just because you fight more often doesn't make you a better fighter than the guy who fights once a year. Interesting, as we have talked about the pure sporting element recently, that by their own definitions a fighter who wins 3 fights by KO is a better fighter than someone who wins 3 fights by decision. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted 8 hours ago Paid Members Posted 8 hours ago Full card for the UFC Saudi show on Dec 5th finally made official with just a few weeks to go… Not great but not too bad for a Fight Night and it’ll be on at a UK friendly time. Izzy vs Shara has been rumoured for a while so that was always the expected headliner. Should tell us a lot about just how far gone Izzy is or isn’t. Because, on paper, this is about as good a matchup for him style-wise as they could give him. Garry vs Amosov I never saw coming. Probably won’t be a barnburner but I really like the fight, big opportunity for Amosov to skyrocket up the rankings. Fair play to Garry for not shying away from a tough fight like this as well, which seems like it’s definitely more risk than reward for him. Below that it’s slim pickings but the Dulatov vs Chokheli fight stands out to me, could be fun from the limited footage I’ve seen of both. Same with the Andrusca vs Osmanli fight on the prelims. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted 8 hours ago Author Paid Members Posted 8 hours ago Abdullaev on the main card too, solid effort! Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted 8 hours ago Paid Members Posted 8 hours ago Right! I didn’t clock that, had him mixed up with a different, very average Abdullaev who already debuted this year. Main card’s looking decent actually. Cutelaba usually brings it as well. Quote
Dai Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Have to echo the credit for Garry to take that fight. Not many no 1 ranked guys would fight someone outside the top 10, especially when it's not a last minute replacement. Always good to see Izzy, and hopefully he still has enough in the tank to beat Shara. Crazy how all the hype from Shara has disappeared completely. Gone from the next big thing to being a complete after thought. Feels like a must win for him, otherwise this will be the last headline/feature fight for him. We talked about the new rankings before in here, but is there a reason why Pinto is the only one with a Meta logo by his ranking? Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted 3 hours ago Paid Members Posted 3 hours ago Yeah, I find Garry a bit weird and cringe a lot of the time and I’m not a big fan of his fighting style but fairs fair, he does generally seem more willing to take the fights most probably don’t fancy. Without checking, I’m pretty sure when he fought Shavkat it was on short notice as well and that was pre-injury plagued Shavkat when everyone thought he was the boogeyman of the 170 division. 1 hour ago, Dai said: Not many no 1 ranked guys would fight someone outside the top 10, especially when it's not a last minute replacement. I’m not actually sure how much notice Garry or Amosov had for this fight, to be honest. I’m guessing it’s been in the works for a bit because the show’s only four weeks away. You’d like to think they gave them more prep time than that but who knows anymore in 2026 UFC? They’re scrambling around to fill these things a lot of the time these days. 1 hour ago, Dai said: Crazy how all the hype from Shara has disappeared completely. Gone from the next big thing to being a complete after thought. To be honest the hype wasn’t really built on much more than ‘look at this crazy looking one-eyed bastard’. He can be fun to watch with the right opponent, sometimes, to a point, but he was always too one dimensional to really make much of a splash in the division. Still not confident current day Izzy beats him though. I think he should but I thought he should beat Pyfer as well and that went tits up. Just seems like he’s been completely spiralling since the Strickland loss. Quote
