Didsbury is a bit shite for Kebeb shops. Have to drive into longsight for a good, cheap one with a hygene rating that does not give you the shits just by looking at it.

I fly back into England for the first trip home from the states in 3 years....I am blessed to live near 3 blinding Indian restaurants but the one thing i cant get is a decent Kebab... this thread has made me a man on a mission!

I've moved on from the days of a dirty donner to chicken shish on the rare occasions I have a kebab. At least I'm 50% confident I know what animal I am eating.

Does anyone make their own healthier version of a donner? Lamb mince, spices and a slow cooker can make a decent alternative to eat when you are sober.

If it's mince, then it's not doner, it's kofte (or adana, depending on the spices you use). Equally awesome.

I slice it up thin so it's almost got the feel of donner.  I had some kofte in Turkey a couple of years ago that was sublime.
