Â I subscribe to Private Eye, which is very similar to Charlie Hebdo, and the idea of gunmen walking into their offices in London and shooting Ian Hislop dead seems insane. Â The whole balance between freedom and security is really tested by home-grown, ideological terrorists. Â Many of the measures you might adopt to catch or restrict such activities end up curtailing the very sort of freedoms that our society holds dear, and that separate us from fundamentalist states. The Norwegian guy who killed 72 people wasn't charged as a terrorist, and he killed as he thought Norway was being too soft on Muslims. Only today there appears to be a shooting at a Subway in Paris. Various people getting knocked down by cars on the street like the Glasgow George's Square incident from a few weeks ago too. Is it purely down to how the media decides to report it or is it now dependant on the perpetrators religion? Was the bloke who gunned down that Batman screening in the USA a terrorist?
