Fog Dude
Sorry for lateness so early into the season. I was on an excursion sans internet access for basically 17 hours yesterday. Anyway, here's the first table of the campaign. In a high-scoring round, The Ratt - who finished dead last 3 and a bit years ago - did enough to stay top of the standings, but this week's top scorer ultimo is not far behind. At the other end, seph is in the wooden spoon position as he didn't play, while newcomers bradyisgod and Zebra Kid Mark are still finding their feet. Among returning players who haven't sat out a round, Harvey Dent (much as it pains me to say it) is lowest placed for the moment, having been the worst performer this time out. Prince Nana bravely backed Leicester to mark their return to the Prem after a decade out with a win over Everton, but the Foxes could only salvage a draw with their second-half flurry. The other 21 participants all disagreed with him in one way or another - although many bet wrongly on away victory - which contributed heavily to the above-average scores. The only other respite from the spate of triumphs on the road came with another 2-2 at The Hawthorns, plus a home success in the Edinburgh derby. Both proved quite fruitful, but elsewhere in the EPL, losses for Newcastle and West Ham were more easily foreseeable than the disappointing reverses for QPR and Stoke. Further afield, the German Cup ties yielded at least a couple of points for everyone. The intrigue wasn't to be found in who would win - indeed, Hanover and Dortmund were universally backed - but in what the exact scorelines would be. I hope people who didn't side with Hertha weren't confusing Viktoria Cologne with their more famous neighbours FC Cologne (of Lukas Podolski fame) or Fortuna. The scores were a bit surprising in that all the underdogs managed to nab a goal at some point in their respective matches. Kudos, then, and a special mention to Vegeta for coming within one goal of getting them exactly spot on. That's your lot. I'll get straight on with the next thread, since this is already behind schedule.
