Only seen the main event so far, Internet sites made out to be an amazing fight. I didn't think it was anything special. Good technical battle but I'm not rushing to rewatch it by any means.

Heard rest of the card was fun to.

Right then, this December 10th Thursday Fight Night marks the beginning of maybe the best weekend of fights the UFC will have ever put on. Red Panty Weekend starts with this lot...

r1L26.jpg

FIGHT PASS MAIN CARD

Rose Namajunas vs Paige VanZant

Jim Miller vs Michael Chiesa

Sage Northcutt vs Cody Pfister

Elias Theodorou vs Thiago Santos

FIGHT PASS PRELIMS

John Howard vs Tim Means

Omari Akhmedov vs Sergio Moraes

Antonio Carlos Junior vs Kevin Casey

Aljamain Sterling vs Johnny Eduardo

Santiago Ponzinibbio vs Andreas Stahl

Michael Graves vs Danny Roberts

Philippe Nover vs Zubaira Tukhugov

Kailin Curran vs Emily Kagan

Anyone know if we're getting this on BT Sport? Or is it Fight Pass only again like the Korea show? Good looking little card, I reckon.

Namajunas vs VanZant is a quality fight. Two of the most promising, young and exciting fighters at strawweight in a five round main event. Can't go wrong. It was originally going to be VanZant vs Joanne Calderwood, I liked that fight but I think this is even better.

Rose Namajunas is 23 years old with an MMA record of 3-2. That record doesn't really tell the whole story though. She's better than that record suggests, I think. Her two losses were a close decision to Tecia Torres (one of the best women's fights ever) and a submission loss to Carla Esparza in the TUF 20 finals. Considering she's only five fights into her pro MMA career, she's been right in at the deep end from the off. She's got skills though and she's young enough to still make some noise. She also has a black-belt in Tae Kwon Do, black-belt in Karate and a purple-belt in BJJ. She's a threat in all areas and she's coming off a quick submission win over Angela Hill so she's back on track.

Paige VanZant is 21 years old with a 7-1 MMA record. Her lone loss was also to Tecia Torres by decision. Since then she's won four fights in a row, and she finished three of them. She's 3-0 in the UFC with wins over Kailin Curran, Felice Herrig and Alex Chambers and has looked very impressive so far.

It's a great fight. I honestly think this is the most dangerous fight for Paige so far as well. People will probably look at Rose's record and overlook her but if she's on her game here I could definitely see her crashing the Paige party.

Here's the MMA Beat boys talking Namajunas vs VanZant;

Worth 7 minutes of your time.

Miller vs Chiesa has barnburner written all over it. This is a fight that's been overshadowed because of all the bigger fights surrounding it in the calendar but it's about as surefire a war as you can hope for. These two are both the same kind of fighter - gritty, non-stop, constant aggression. They're both up for a brawl or a grappling war. Two really fun fighters to watch. Can't wait for this one.

Sage Northcutt returns for his second UFC fight against Cody 'The Arse' Pfister.

Of course, Northcutt's look is what gets him attention but he's got undeniable and very real talent as well. He's a third degree black-belt in Tae Kwon Do, he's unbeaten in MMA at 6-0 (all finishes) and at just 19 years old the sky's the limit with him.

He couldn't have got off to a better start in the UFC either, destroying Francisco Trevino in seconds with a tornado of strikes that was uncannily reminiscent of the 19 year old Vitor Belfort's UFC debut against Tra Telligman back in 1997.

Theodorou vs Santos is a solid main card opener. Again, a fight no-one is talking about but I think it could be pretty great actually. Similar lanky frames, both aggressive and dangerous.

Theodorou won TUF Nations and is undefeated. Santos is 11-3 and scored one of the best knockouts of 2015 in his last fight against Steve Bosse...

That was in June and I'm not sure Bosse has even woke up yet.

Prelims are decent. Means vs Howard is alright, Means is usually exciting. Sterling is someone worth keeping an eye on and Ponzinibbio is a scrapper.

Not a bad set of fights there. It's the weakest of the three consecutive cards from Dec 10th-12th but it's got enough on there to keep me interested.

Late to the party, I know, but I thought it was worth mentioning what an impressive performance Ben Henderson had in that main event on Saturday, and what a great job he's done setting himself up as a free agent.

Don't get me wrong, I still think the guy is a massive dick, but credit where it's due. He looked very good in that fight. It's the little things that I really enjoy. Those backwards elbows he was throwing up to Masvidal's face when attempting a takedown against the fence, as well the awesome way he was lifting Masvidal's hand off the canvas before kneeing him in the face, I don't think I've ever seen either techniques before and they were both really cool.

I'm hoping Bellator offer him loads of cash and then UFC match it. That seems like the perfect scenario. He makes more money without having to fight in the minor leagues. I just don't know if UFC will fight for him though. He's never set business on fire, has he?

I always enjoy watching Bendo. I wish he would cut the religious crap at the end of every fight - it just grates on me like crazy. Aside from that I think he always delivers. You aren't getting crazy knockouts or reckless brawling but you can be sure of a great technical battle.

This is true look what one Reddit poster said after it came out he spat out his toothpick midfight -

"Legend has it that the toothpick was created from a single splinter from the wooden cross which jesus christ died on, it gives benson henderson extraordinary powers over judges to get the split decision win every time it is activated"

On the upcoming Fight Night card - potential show stealer that. Really looking forward to it. Jim Miller's always fun and actually one of his fights was the first I actually ever caught. Plus we get a proper look at how good Sage Northcutt is. Anyone know if we're getting this one on BT?

If you didn't watch last week's show then it comes highly recommended. Fun fights all night long, and Akiyama's physique needs to be seen to be believed. At a time when everyone else is shrinking, out comes this 40 year old man looking like a fucking cartoon. Either he's blessed with the greatest genetics of all time or he simply doesn't give a fuck about the new drug tests. It was ridiculous!

Im one of the few Benson Henderson fans in the world and the reasons you mentioned above is why. It's pretty weird that in a sport where you're free to utilise pretty much any part of your body so much of MMA follows a standard formula. The way Benson fights is how i like to see things done, it doesn't what position he finds himself in he's constantly trying to do damage or improve his position, super creative. It was an excellent fight that im surprised didn't get FOTN, the prelim that did must have been some fight.

I hope Benson goes to Bellator, staying at 170 in the UFC would be cool but i'd like to see him jump ship and face the challenges in Bellator.

....and yes Sexyama's body was ridiculous, the guy looks like an action figure. Hell of a scrap that was too. I was initially pissed at the decision because Mina was dead to the world in round 3 and Akiyama really should have stopped him, but there's a good case to be made for Mina winning rounds 1 & 2, round 2 could have even be giving a 10-8 because the round ending saved Akiayama from being stopped. Sexyama is always good value though, what a guy.

Oh, quick mention for the Korean Wonder Boy too, comes in waxes Sam Sicilia in 93 seconds, calls out Kawajiri and declares himself the best in the world all whilst looking barely 10 years old. That's how you make an impression.

Aye. My biggest take away from that event was how much of a star Akiayama is. What a bod.

For MMA/the fighters sake, I hope more folk like Benson end up in Bellator. Rogan and co were going on about it on the Fight Companion and they were speculating that Jon Jones in Bellator may not be a mental idea, seeing as Jones is clearly disheartened by the way UFC have treated him. Viacom need to, of course, decide they're going to throw a ton of notes at the promotion though.
