Bellator 107 felt like a bit of a comedown after last weeks show.

* Kongo looked decent against Graham. I was pretty surprised he decided to stand and trade with Graham early but Kongo did and actually got the better of the exchanges. One of Kongo's true strengths as a fighter is is ground and pound and when he did get Graham down he did some nasty damage in a very short amount of time.

Peter Graham's run ends and whilst insane tough the guy's gastank leaves a lot to be desired.

Kongo moves to a title fight...he's past his best, but he's one of the few Bellator 'name' signings has actually been a success, Rebney must be ecstatic.

* Joe Warren looked great beating Marx. Warren has his detractors but that was as solid a Warren performance as ive seen. Simply put there's few 135'lbers who will be able to deal with Warren when gets to top position, he's a beast at the weight, add in his tenacity and his straight up desire to win and he's a handful. That fucking knee was sweet too...

* Brennan Ward won the 185lb tournament by smashing Parlo in round 2, stoppage was just. but i can see why there were complains. Brennan would make a good tag team partner with War Machine, both brash, young, cocky aggressive muthafuckers. Im happy to see Ward against whoever wins the Shlemenko/Rhino fight.

it's gone un-mentioned on here, but Crocop suffered his first post-UFC MMA defeat last weekend, losing via submission to Russian veteran Alexay Oleinik...

11_medium.gif

Only his 2nd submission defeat (the other being the legendary Big Nog fight), sad to see Crocop lose to a guy he'd have completely waxed a few years back aint good :( Olenik didn't give him a sniff. Not heard anything post-fight but i don't expect him to retire.

On the same show Paul Daley got defeated by a Russian, Alexander Yakovlev. Daley was never really in it and Yakovlev did a great job of exposing the old Daley weaknesses and just stopping Daley from being the bully. I don't think it harms Daley's stock too much, there'll always be a promoter willing to pay for his services.

Surely he is trolling, then again.

My TV schedule has Bellator listed for Saturday 16th (tonight) on Viva, but not on Friday. Are they changing when they show it? It would be nice to have it on only one days delay.

well, Rampage got the KO. He was clearly losing the opening round, Beltran executed a pretty sound gameplan in stifling Rampage and in turn making him look like the plodder Rampage of recent years...Beltran got involved a wild exchange late on though and got sparked with a left hook. Rampage went on to declare 'HE'S BACK!!', but outside of punching power (which no ones ever debated) it's hard to say. Still it's nice to see Rampage fired up.

Vitaly Minakov snagged the heayweight title, just walking through Volkov. There seemed to be a massive power advantage for Minakov who in a year or so's may be one of the few heavyweights people are demanding to see in the UFC. 13-0 now, 12 finishes and knocking everyone out. Dude's a unit.

Yeah. Beltran was definitely winning the first and definitely wanted to drag the fight out the whole 3 rounds. Rampage was having none of it and just went for it the last 10 seconds of the round. Not sure where he goes next. Don't think they'll be putting him in a tournament anytime soon and the LHW division doesn't seem very strong at the moment. Suppose there is always King Mo. Although think he'd rather take a chance at the belt again in the next tournament.

Minakov was very impressive. Should be good to see how he deals with Kongo.

I watched the whole card live. But sitting here now I can't for the life of me remember anything about Pitbulls fight except that he won. But yeah. I was pretty happy to see him get the win. Him v Strauss should be good.

Pitbull won comfortably in round 1, everytime he laid a glove on Wilcox he hurt him. Pitbull has some serious power at 145.

Bjorn said post-fight that there's no plans as of yet to put Rampage in a tournament, but they are going to put Beltran in.

season finale this friday...

BellatorPoster108.gif

Alexander Schllemenko vs. Doug Marshall - Bellator Middleweight Title

Will Brooks vs. Alexander Sarnavskiy - Lightweight Tournament Final

Rick Hawn vs. Ron Keslar - Welterweight Title Fight

Patrick Cenoble vs. Terry Etim

preliminary CARD

Lester Caslow vs. Jay Haas

Brett Glass vs. Brent Primus

Terrell Hobbs vs. Bubba Jenkins

Saul Almeida vs. Goiti Yamauchi

Keith Bell vs. Blagoi Ivanov

Andrew Osborne vs. Michael Page

Ahsan Abdulla vs. Mike Bannon

well, there's only one word for the main event: Violence. This could very well be the most brutal fight of the year, Marshall is just an animal and against a guy who does nothing but throw punches it's gonna be short, sharp and very nasty. I'll take Schlemenko but Marshall has the power to KO everyone.

Terry Etim debuts!...and Michael Page is on the undercard again, its about time Bellator get that guy higher up the card.

well i think Schlemenko cemented himself as possibly my favorite fighter Saturday night...the guy is just the epitomy of a Russian MMA fighter. Bellator like to promote him as the new kingpin in Russian MMA after Fedor, i aint sure if it's seen in Russia but it feels like that way to me.

The fight was predictably brutal, both guys were swinging heavy leather, the difference was Schlemenko mixed up his attacks and went after Marshall's body like a madman. If anyone wants to see an effective display of body striking in MMA, this is the fight to show em.

Bjorn Rebney called Schlemenko one of the most exciting fighters in MMA after the fight and it's hard to disagree, fantastic.

* Terry Etim coasted against an overmatched opponent, he didn't excite anyone but he'll have cemented his place in the next 155lb tournament.

* Will Brooks just did his thing, he's one of the most physically gifted 155lbers in the game and unless you can deal with his physicality he will give any 155lber on the planet a rough night. Just complete domination. He'll get the winner of Alvarez/Chandler III.

* Hawn/Keslar was quality. Hawn struggled early but established his boxing from round 2 and put a hurting on Keslar, Hawn is one of the better boxers in the game, tight hands.

I didn't see it, but Lyoto Machida's brother picked up a win at RFA 11 via

that's one of the KO's of the year right there...some knockouts looks pretty, some are just downright brutal like that one, just pure kneebone to jawbone, ouch!
