Some weeks tournament bouts seem more important than others, good example is this week...they had 2 semi finals in the middle of the card whilst Joe Warren headlined in a non tournament bout. Other weeks a tournament bout will headline, some week tournament bouts are relegated to the prelims! It's a bit all over the place. Quote

Why James Warring stood Spartan Queiroz up against Volkov was just baffling. Queiroz was badly hurt, scored a desperation takedown and was stood up within seconds of hitting the ground. It was a horrible decision and it possibly cost Queiroz the fight...the dude earned his right to recover on the ground after being hurt Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 3, 2012 Author Paid Members Posted December 3, 2012 Bellator 82 was nice little watch for me last night after a up and down weekend of fights... a nice inclusion was that of Doug fucking Marshall! he got a mention in the Past Discussion thread not long back, he's a dude that pretty much fell off the radar when he left the WEC back in the day but he's come back looking like a f'n beast! He's down at 185 now and he KO'd the granite tough Kala Hose in 22 seconds, wild brawl, it looked like Hose was KO'd more by his head hitting the ground rather than the actual punch that hit him, but it looked wild. Great save from the ref. too! I always wanna see Marshall get lamped but i love watching him fight, glad he's back. Koreshkov/Good fell into that type of fight where Koreshkov just had Good's number on the feet and stuck to a safety first type attack, he complete befuddled the slightly one dimensional Good and picked him off to win a decision. It was alright final but it didn't really spark into life, Koreshkov's tendency to fade is not gonna lend well to him fighting Ben Askren. Rickels/Fischer was Fight of the Night, Rickels is on his way down to 155 so this was fought at 160, and he just didn't have the intensity he brought to 170, it was weird and he struggled past the unfancied Fischer. I feel it was a case of Rickels underestimating Fischer which led to him taking a round or two to get started, it was a cracking little battle though. Decent show. Quote

Any idea what's happening with Gurgel's 115lb belt? she's still considered the champ but no longer fights in that division, Bellator's women's picture is a mess. Zach Makovsky's return was spoilt by Anthony Leone, it was an ultra-close fight but it seemed Leone's size was the difference. I think Makovsky would be better suited to drop to 125 and try getting a shot in the UFC's thin Flyweight division, that's where his future lies surely. then, the weird bit...Rad Martinez & Shahbulat Shamhalaev's fight was cancelled literally minutes before they were due to fight after Shamhalaev fell ill. They were all gloved up ready to go, very strange. The fight goes ahead this weekend at Bellator 84 which now consists of 3 tournament finals! (the heavyweight tournament doubles up as the World Title fight because the belt's vacant). Richard Hale vs. Alexander Volkov - Bellator Heavyweight Title Fight Marcin Held vs. Dave Jansen - Bellator Lightweight Tournament Final Rad Martinez vs. Shahbulat Shamhalaev - Bellator Featherweight Tournament Final Felice Herrig vs. Patricia Vidonic nice way for Bellator to end it's run on MTV, the real work starts next year Quote

Paul Daley vs. War Machine only problem is, War Machine has broken his leg and blown out his ACL in training so he's out for pretty much most of next year id wager. No word on whether they'll go for the 2nd highest rated fight to open up the Spike broadcasts, but that's some bad luck, it was a cool way to break in the show on Spike. ...i voted Daley/Saunders by the way. I thought Daley vs Saunders or Lima would be way ahead of anything else. I guess people wanted to see the two nutters go at it. Shit news for War Machine. From what I'd read and heard he's genuinely trying to sort himself out. He's defo a nut but I think he is trying to put his past behind him. He was on Helwani's MMA Hour a couple of months ago and I thought he came across surprisingly well. It's on Youtube if you haven't seen it. So yeah, crap luck for War. I really hope we get Daley vs Saunders now though. Quote

Chandler vs Hawn has all the makings of a FOTYC, much like Cerrone vs Pettis the week after, it's a fight I can't envision being anything short of brilliant. Chandler has become such a great fighter in a short time, the Alvarez win showed what he's capable of and Rick Hawn has looked beastly since dropping to 155. Can't go wrong with Curran vs Pitbull either. How can that not deliver? Looking forward to seeing Babalu as well. Looks like it will be a strong debut on Spike. Quote
