week off to Bellator last week, but they are back this with Bellator 43, cracking little lineup too:

MAIN CARD

* Rick Hawn vs. Jay Hieron (welterweight tourney final)

* Bryan Baker vs. Joe Riggs

* Neil Grove vs. Zak Jensen

* Chase Beebe vs. Jose Vega

the main event is very interesting, it's hard to pick a winner in that one. Baker/Riggs should be awesome too. Always fun to see Neil Grove fight too, slugfest!

That's a cracking card. I'm fully backing Rick Hawn in the finals, and agree regarding Baker/Riggs. Jensen is from TUF10 and Beebe is the former WEC Bantamweight champion who Miguel Torres beat for the belt, although from looking at his record, the Torres loss was the start of a slide for Beebe who has lost as many as he has won since that fight.

yeh, the juries out on Jay Hieron so far this season, the first fight was a bit of a non-affair but he wasn't all that impressive in round 2, Hawn has looked good but i think it's gonna be a case of whoever can bring their a-game on the night. I like the sound of either against Ben Askren though.

43 was pretty good...

* Had Hawn taking the main event 29-28. Hieron has scraped by twice now in the tournament, he was very critical of fans after the Weedman figth saying that fans dont understand effective counter punching, but here althought Hieron was trying to do the same thing (although its borderline backpeddaling), i though Hawn was doing enough damage coming forward to win, he landed by far the cleaner shots. Not an outrage but i thought the wrong man one.

* Baker/Riggs was a fun fight, Joe Riggs has been on the slide but he looked sharp on his feet, both guys traded some nasty looking strikes. Bryan Baker looks legit though, i had no idea of his illness so now he's getting over it i think the guy could go on and make some waves in MMA, he's a real big 185'er and he can bang. Riggs' chances of getting back to the big show seem over, but i still like to see him fight, can't believe he's only 28.

* they threw a Ron Sparks fight in there too. I hope he gets into the heavyweight tournament cause he's looking good, a massive heavyhanded guy who moves pretty quickly, i can see him fucking some dudes up.

liked it... onto 44.

It's hard to see past Patricky Freire winning the lightweight tournament this weekend I reckon. Chandlers good, but Pitbull is something else.

Could we see two brothers winning Bellator tournaments one week after each other?

if they do win, i can see the UFC trying to snatch them two up, fucking killers the pair of 'em.

I'm picking Chandler this week though, i think he dominates on the ground, and grinds out a decision.

another day, another Bellator signing...they've now picked up Sengoku vet. Michael Costa.

I'm telling you, the way Bellator are growing and the talent they are picking up, it's not gonna be long before people are gonna start fantasy matchmaking between them and the UFC-Strikeforce. It's arguable now that some of the best lighter weight fighters in the world are in Bellator. They are doing an awesome job of picking up the fresh talent, i think it's a credit to their business model. They pay well and fighters are guaranteed to be busy, just seems like it's very inviting to the fighters. Highlighted by the fact that Douglas Lima signed with them instead of re-signing with the MFC.

Bellator seems to conciously be trying to avoid bringing in UFC cast-off's too, they bring em in to put a little name value on the card sometimes but they seem intent of keeping them out of the tournaments (barring a few exceptions), in order to build their own cast of fighters...i love it.

oh and Bellator 44 looks like this:

-Hector Lombard (27-2-1; #9 Middleweight)* vs. Falaniko Vitale (28-9)

Yeah some good signings for Bellator there with Lima and Costa. Really looking forward to Friere vs Chandler and always enjoy Lombard's fights.

Bellator is one company I need to catch up on. I'm seeing shows here and there, always enjoy em but with work and other stuff I keep falling behind :(

i think when they roll out the Light Heavyweights it can't be as 'must see' sometimes because they haven't developed that division so much, but 170 and under is awesome in there at the moment.

...as for Hector Lombard, that guy is just killing people.

Haven't seen Bellator 45 yet but thought this was interesting. Ben Askren is dropping hints about going to the UFC when his contract with Bellator is up.

:D yeah he hasn't got the most fan friendly style has he but I actually don't mind watching him. There's been fights where he's bored the crap out of me but he's looked great in others. Worth remembering too that he's only had 8 fights so he's not the finished product.

I like that he speaks his mind too. He's got a kind of personality that makes his fights more interesting for me, kinda like a welterweight Chael Sonnen I guess.

The fight card for Bellator's first "Summer Series" event is set with nine bouts.

Bellator 46 takes place June 25 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla. The night's main card airs on MTV2.

The opening round of an eight-man featherweight tournament populates the main card while a host of Florida-based fighters fill the untelevised preliminary card.

Bellator 46 is the first of three monthly "Summer Series" shows before the organization kicks off a fifth season in September. That season will see Bellator return to its weekly-events schedule.

Genair da Silva vs. Marlon Sandro (featherweight tourney quarterfinal)

Ronnie Mann vs. Adam Schindler (featherweight tourney quarterfinal)

Pat Curran vs. Luis Palomino (featherweight tourney quarterfinal)

Jacob Devree vs. Nazareno Malegarie (featherweight tourney quarterfinal)

Good news for those who doubted Bellators move to MTV;

MTV officials today announced that MTV2 has posted its highest-rated quarter in the channel's history, thanks in part to the viewership impact of Bellator Fighting Championships.

According to the network's statement, MTV2, which is available in approximately 80 million homes, saw an increase of 14 percent in total viewership from second quarter 2010. Also notable were increases in viewers aged 12-34, as the network posted an 11 percent increase over last year's mark in that category.

The channel also announced that in the male 12-34 demographic, the viewership figures represented the highest-rated second quarter since the channel was created in 1996.

In addition to increases in the established programming like
