David Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 If anyone here has been keeping up to speed with his blogs and ramblings, you'll know exactly what I mean. Â In fact, being the charitable kind of sod that I am, i'm going to post his two most recent writings here for you to read. It's top stuff; Â Manchester, England and drunk Eddie - Nov. 30th 2009Â A couple weekends ago was the scene of another spirited jaunt across the Ocean to see my friends in the UK. Saturday the UFC was in Manchester, England, and as per usual, I scheduled a comedy show the night before the fights with my good friend and UK comic Dave Bishop at a place called the Dancehouse Theatre. This was my sixth trip to England, and over the course of time I
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted January 8, 2010 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2010 Shit comedian though.
Paid Members Snake Plissken Posted January 8, 2010 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2010 Shit comedian though. Â I have to disagree I think he's a great comedian. His last two live albums are borderline genius. The Terroroist Phone Network ~JIHAD~ is absolutely classic. Far more cutting edge than someone like Michael McIntyre anyway.
David Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 Shit comedian though. Â I personally think he's pretty great, but each to their own.
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted January 8, 2010 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2010 Rogan's 'Shiny Happy Jihad' shows is in the top ten comedy shows I've heard (and I've seen a LOT). If you've not heard it I urge you to download it & check it out. I was at the Manchester show mentioned & although it was decent it was far from him best. The audience was 99% people who were there for the UFC as opposed to a traditional comedy audience. Obviously it makes sense for him to book a stand-up show when he gets a free flight with the UFC but I'd love to see him in a normal comedy setting. Also a shame he gets labelled with the 'edgy American' tag as he's miles away from darker comedians like Doug Stanhope or Jim Jeffries.
Chaka Demus Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I like his comic routines but I am not a massive fan of his UFC colour-commentary.
Paid Members Carbomb Posted January 8, 2010 Paid Members Posted January 8, 2010 First thing I always remember him for is his war with Carlos Mencia, or "Menstealia", as he called him.
Patrick "Madman" Kelly Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I can say 1st hand that Eddie Bravo is a complete utter cock when he is drunk....a wanksplat of the highest order!
Famous Mortimer Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 He's below average as a comedian, I think. Compared to Michael McIntyre he's a fucking genius, of course, but compared to the best comedians operating today in the USA he's like one of the prelim fighters on a UFC show, not so much a headliner.

Compared to Michael McIntyre he's a fucking genius, of course, but compared to the best comedians operating today in the USA he's like one of the prelim fighters on a UFC show, not so much a headliner. Â I think Rogan is great, really refreshing...i watch a lot of comedians, could you recommend me some shows/comedians that make Rogan look pre lim please...
Dynamite Duane Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Not seen his stand up but hear he's great on the ground

Compared to Michael McIntyre he's a fucking genius, of course, but compared to the best comedians operating today in the USA he's like one of the prelim fighters on a UFC show, not so much a headliner.  I think Rogan is great, really refreshing...i watch a lot of comedians, could you recommend me some shows/comedians that make Rogan look pre lim please... With pleasure. I'll see if I can associate the people with some Youtube clips or suchlike as well.  First up is Doug Stanhope. He's quite similar to Rogan in a lot of respects, just tons better.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkR19rz5E48 (skip to 2:10 when the show starts, some kind soul has put his entire latest DVD on Youtube).  Dave Attell, more drug-based humour from this guy but I also think he's a lot funnier than Rogan.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UzVPMq-mCpo  Louis CK, who I could have picked a million clips by because he's just amazing.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG4f9zR5yzY - investigates the Catholic Church Patton Oswalt, who's doing a lot of acting now but he's really good at standup still.   Zach Galifianakis, off of "The Hangover" but initially loved for standup. He also does these brilliant interview videos:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOVq_UL48o0&feature=fvst  I really like Nick Swardson, who you may know as the rent boy from Reno 911 but also has a great standup career.   Doug Benson, now more famous for doing "Super High Me". This bit is from Last Comic Standing, but don't judge him for being on it.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IUM69fH7FaE  That's a fair chunk of comedians I consider to be better than Joe Rogan. There's also Demetri Martin, Dave Chappelle, Michael Ian Black, The Sklar Brothers and Jeffrey Ross but I ran out of energy before searching for clips of those guys.
Paid Members Dead Mike Posted January 9, 2010 Paid Members Posted January 9, 2010 Morty's pretty much nailed it. If you can, download Stanhope's 'Die Laughing' show IMO his best work. I'll also vouch for Louis CK, saw him in San Fran in 2008 & it's in my top 10 live comedy performances. I'd add Greg Giraldo too that list too, quite mainstream & not as 'edgy' as Stanhope et al but still shit hot. David Cross is another of my personal faves but is quite devisive, especially to casual comedy fans.

I've seen some Stanhope stuff when i was searching for some Bill Hicks stuff on utube. Funny you mention Doug Benson as i watched Superhigh me 2 days ago, Chappelle is well known to me but the others are all new.  Thanks , perfect way to chill out in the snow...
Kawaii Guy Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 Im on a spree buying up any stand up dvds I can get that dont include the names Brand or mcintyre, and after watching those clips, im definatly picking up Louis CKs dvd when im next in town. Â Patton Oswalts comedy is great, his albums are long time fixtures on my ipod. Another guy im really into though is Lewis Black. Love his stuff.
