Taking a punt they just won't air that part on anything WWE owned?

Can anyone update me on Progress. Not ran by nonce defenders no more apparently???

No, the original guys are all gone now. New owners are something to do with Tranmere Rovers and one of them used to be behind Wrestle Travel (or something like that)

    Who is it?

    Anthony Ogogo

As for it turning up on the network, it probably will do. they had that Austin podcast with Chris Jericho last year after all

Hi. On the old WWF VHS releases, they have the standard "Don't do this at home!" message. Last paragraph annoys me "This Programme is Solely Intended For Your Viewing Pleasure". What else could it be for? Paging Silver Vision..

Its just reinforcing that it’s for watching not copying what you see, i.e - this isn’t an instructional video

  3. I’m still working my way through The Monday Night War era of wrestling on the network, which is pretty much the only reason I still subscribe.

I’m up to WCW Monday Nitro from July 13th 1998 (#148), the night after Bash At The Beach.

The third match on (and after a whopping 100second match Rick Fuller and Jim Duggan had stunk up the place) is a one-on-one encounter between Bret Hart and Fit Finlay. Hart is coming off of a DQ loss the previous night to TV Champion Booker T, while Finlay had been TV Champion a couple of months previously, so both men are firmly in midcard spots. It’s also heel vs heel as Finlay is just Finlay while Bret is in the nWo, although the crowd does favour The Hitman slightly because he’s Bret Hart.

I had no idea this match took place (it doesn’t get any sort of build on the show), and went looking online as I figured they must’ve crossed paths before either in World of Sport, Stampede, or maybe even Japan at some point.
Nope, this is the one and only time that the two men ever faced each other.

This being wrestling TV in 1998 means that it doesn’t go long, but it’s a fun little match for what it is

So are Sting and Darby the number one contenders now? The tag rankings rarely make much sense to me.

These were the rankings ahead of last night

The tag division doesn’t have their all-time stats whereas the other two do, but  if you’re just going off of 2022 then in theory, Sting & Darby should be tied #3 with FTR and Private Party as that was their first match this year, with Varsity Blondes dropping down the rankings after losing last night

The House of Black's theme is such a huge downgrade over Black's singles theme, they look great together tho.

Massive downgrade but not unexpected. It’s a theme by God’s Hate who Brody King is the frontman for. I’m not overly familiar with his work elsewhere but I would expect that he had a similar to have his own tracks for his theme there too, and it’s obviously been given to AEW for either mates rates or as part-payment in his downside

  5. “Get this drunken piece of trash out of the ring” was what I think he said. Haven’t read anything about whether or not he was actually thrown out (I doubt he will have been), but fuck that guy

Might be more suited to the petty annoyance thread, but there were moments where everyone’s timing seemed to be completely off, and rather than sell to fill the gap you had people just standing there waiting for the next spot. The worst example of it was Britt just standing there like an idiot waiting for Statlander to do the pendulum moonsault, which looks absolutely terrifying every time she tries and I’m convinced she’s going to land on her head some day.

Frankie Kazarian’s new nickname isn’t lasting long, I’ll tell you that right now.

Another great promo from PAC, I’m really looking forward to his match with Malakai

  6. I understand the reasoning behind the name change and wanting a name they can own etc. Fucking Gunther though

Vince: “This Walter guy doesn’t sound German enough. Call him Gunther”

Some poor sod: “But Mr McMahon sir, Walter is from Austria”

Vince: “Like I said, he doesn’t sound German enough”

  7. Just watching the show now and Mox’s promo at the beginning was so fucking intense. With the exception of one gobshite, you could hear a pin drop. No stupid chants, no groups of folk trying to get themselves over, just everyone focused and wanting to hear what Mox has to say

My learned friends, what's the best metal album of the last 10 years?

    Obsidian Kingdom - Mantiis

    Converge - Bloodmoon: I

    Vektor - Terminal Redux

Crypt Sermon - The Ruins of Fading Light

VLTIMAS - Something Wicked Marches In

    Silvertomb - Edge of Existence

Cult Leader - A Patient Man

    KEN Mode - Loved

Zeal & Ardor - Stranger Fruit and Devil Is Fine

    Pallbearer- Heartless

all excellent releases outside of the big hitters. Tool’s Fear Inoculum is good but nowhere near their best work, and I say as a massive fan of them

  9. I assume that announcing it beforehand is in hope of popping a rating, but part of me wishes that they hadn’t and him turning up out of the blue would’ve gotten a much more natural reaction. All I’m expecting now is a bunch of dweebs putting on their best shocked face hoping to become the next meme.

  10. The Interim title is fine as it gives them a reason to have the match they originally planned at another time and depending on what the outcome is they can pick things back up with whatever they were going to do from there, I just don’t see the point in Cody having a 2 week reign just for the sake of having a title change on the Belts show.

Jade winning the TBS belt makes sense for Dynamite as it was the first one on TBS, but if they were hellbent of having a title change, couldn’t they have just had the Lucia Bros/Jurassic Express match on BotB rather than Dynamite?
Cody winning the TNT belt just to drop it straight back again doesn’t do anything for either him or Sammy.

Looking forward to Mox being back, but I’m also hopeful that he’s in a good place mentally and hasn’t come back too soon
