  1. UFC PPVs will bomb here, surely? If you've got fibre broadband and the HD version of TV with BT then you're already shelling out £50 a month easy. Another £6 for Eleven a month and then PPV charges once every couple of months on top of that? No ta. I'm alright.

On Friday I have a few spare hours before I have to head back home to Devon, so I am going to have a wander around Camden. Any recommendations for somewhere to get lunch around there. I know there area bunch of stalls in the market that do good food, but is there anything that I should go out of my way to check out.

Hook is decent for swanky fish and chips. Swanky in that they do 'modern' stuff with it rather than it's expensive and has a dress code etc. https://www.hookrestaurants.com/

Chin Chin Ice Cream in the market is shit hot. Well worth going out of your way for. https://chinchinicecream.com/

If you can make it as far as Kentish Town then Camden Brewery (yeah, I know, confusing) open their doors on a Friday and they make an absolutely stellar lager. (You'll have seen it in supermarkets, I'm sure, but don't let that make you think it sucks). They have a street food vendor outside that's almost always great. http://www.camdentownbrewery.com/about/brewery-bar/. (I'd check times for lunch).

On Kentish Town High Street there's a Camden Brewery pub called Camden's Daughter that had Burger and Beyond as a food residency last time I checked. (Website says they're still there but I'd check). Their burgers are really good. http://www.camdensdaughter.com/menu/

There's also Beef and Brew a few doors down from Camden's Daughter that's very good. https://www.beef-and-brew.co.uk/

Back in Camden, Porky's is half decent if you fancy BBQ. http://porkys.co.uk/. Band of Burgers is supposed to be good but I've never been personally. http://bandofburgers.co.uk/venue/

  3. It was looking a bit dicey there for a minute. Thought I might have to avoid eye contact and slip away slowly backwards out of the room.

Fortunately a few of you have validated my approach. 😃.

It probably comes from eating fish and chips from the paper whilst not at home. Unless you're sitting down at a table in the chippy (also weird) you have no choice but to use either your hands or one of those wooden forks.

I'm also firmly in the camp of eating them from the paper even when at home. The idea of tipping the fish and chips out of the paper onto a plate is absolutely abhorrent.

Chips, I get. But I've never seen anyone eat their fish with just their hands.

Fuck it. Clearly I'm posh. Somebody hand me a monocle.

To be honest, I'm probably the unusual one here. I dunno, I just prefer to pick bits of the fish up and eat it with hands.

Yeah, but it's pretty easy to find - just use your cutlery! Are you just biting into your fish, that you end up chomping on the spine without knowing where the bone is?

Well, first of all I'm normal so I don't eat fish and chips with cutlery. But year, fair point, it's more trying to gnaw the meat of the bone.

Wait a minute, what's so esoteric about rock? I've seen loads of places all over the country selling that. It's good, too. Lots of flavour.

Is Rock the bastard with a big spinal bone down the middle of it? My teeth have fallen foul of that on more than one occasion!

My "hatred for him as a person"?

Mate, I don't know the guy. I don't "hate" him, as a person or otherwise. I dislike some of his antics and the language he uses when hyping his fights, and think he acts like a dick a lot of the time.

For me to "hate" him he'd need to have impacted on my life in some serious negative way. He hasn't. He's a dude on the TV screen to me, and in "real life" I don't really think about what he does or says.

I'm discussing him here because that's what we do here, isn't it? We kill spare time in our lives by talking about MMA, wrestling, biscuits, movies and various other nonsense for the most part.

I'm sharing an opinion I have on the upcoming fight. I think the build up has been weird, I think there's something more to it behind the scenes, but it's not a big deal, man. I don't "hate" anyone, and be there an issue or not behind the scenes it makes no real difference to any of us, does it?

In much the same way as we all discuss PPV buys and viewing figures that matter not a fucking jot to any of us regular plebs. None of it puts dough in our pockets, does it?

It's just discussion to kill time and I figured it would be an interesting angle to the build up, of which there's been very little.

Alright, not 'hate' but 'dislike' Dislike for him as a person on your TV.

All I was saying was that it's clear you dislike him and that seems to cloud your judgment some of the time. You'd taken the stance that he loves the limelight and therefore there must be more to things than we know. To me that doesn't make sense - he's worked his way into a position whereby he doesn't need to do so much media and he's said for a long time now that he wants to do less.

And @Chunk, if you read what I'm saying I'm actually siding with McGregor on this one. I think there's something weird about how this has all come about, it doesn't feel like a McGregor mega fight, it feels like he's been told who he's fighting, and when, which is something that hasn't happened for a long time.

It wasn't about taking his side or not. It was about you concluding that it's unusual for him to not want the spotlight:

He's a media whore, the guy can't go on holiday without making grand entrances to clubs and venues, and he certainly doesn't dress or drive to avoid the media that he hates so much, does he?

I was just struggling to understand how you concluded that given all the times he's banged on about (and fake retired for) a reduced media schedule. It was almost like your hatred for him as a person was impacting your judgement on the situation.

I do believe we may see currency go all-digital in our lifetime, though. I seldom use a cash point or have cash in my wallet, as all my purchases are done either online or using contactless/chip and PIN. There is a generation who still prefer cash, but they’re not going to be around forever…

Please let this happen sooner than later. Is there anything more annoying than being a man (that doesn't carry a purse) and bloody coins? Drives me nuts. The ice cream van in my local park now takes contactless payment! It's time we moved on.

I've also heard a few whispers that these impending court cases are the reason Conor is taking this fight with Khabib. Would make sense really, as he doesn't seem to be relishing it in the same way as he has his previous fights. Looks like he's getting in, doing the bare minimum, and getting out with cash in the bank?

He just earned $100m and the Khabib fight is already just about as huge as it's ever going to get. What would you do? Pack your suitcase and travel the world promoting the fight or stay at home training and spending time with your 1 year old kid?

  11. Some of the odds for the UFC card this weekend took me by surprise.

Till is the favourite over Woodley and you can get a Woodley win at 2.25.

Craig White is the favourite over Diego Sanchez and you can get a Sanchez win at 2.80.

Carla Esparza to beat Tatiana Suarez is much longer than I'd guess. You can get get to win at 5.00.

So a three fold acca on those 3 gives you something in the region of 30 to 1.

If I were one of the selectors, I'd take this opportunity to start a fresh with a completely new opening pair. Jennings just doesn't look anything near a test opener(and even a big score in the last test wouldn't change that fact) so I'd oust him. I honestly have no idea who the best replacement would be though, assuming that Burns will be taking Cook's place...

I agree. I'm just not sure the selectors will! As a Kent fan, I'd like to see Joe Denly given a go. He averages over 55 in the Championship this year (admittedly division two) and he's also a genuine front-line leg spinner now too.
