  1. Probably one of those click bait articles on ESPN but apparently Conor didn't take kindly to being asked about supplements for the first Diaz fight. He was meant to be taking something that will be added to the banned list next year. As I say probably clickbait cack. Plus I couldn't see a date for the article

Even if it is true, what's the issue? It wasn't banned when (if) he was taking it.

  2. Hendricks is worse though. His voice really grates on me. That interview with the belt that Herbie posted is another example of why I grew to dislike him. He's never said or done anything too bad, but he's just impossible to warm to.

Punctuating every sentence with "you know what I mean" and constantly spitting tobacco spit into clear water bottles. Annoying.

  3.

I also agree that he has to defend the FW belt next or drop it. If he's dead set on holding both and wants to fight again before his baby is born then to me it makes sense to give him Pettis if Pettis beats Holloway.

Yeah, it makes perfect sense to completely overlook the current interim champion in favour of a guy who's fought in the weightclass once and who's current record is 1-3.

Fair point about the interim belt. I'd completely forgotten they even did that. That in itself shows how much of a draw Aldo is ...

  4. But we're talking about Mcgregor here, not just any old fighter. What he personally wants is a huge factor in what happens. Look at the Diaz rematch as an example of that. If he doesn't want to fight Aldo but does want to defend his FW belt, it would be crazy to believe that it's a simple as the UFC telling him what to do.

I'm also not sure if I agree that Aldo is a bigger fight than Pettis. He destroyed Aldo in 13 seconds. Who wants to see him fight Aldo again? Not many casual fans, I'd bet. You stick that matrix kick clip on a few promo videos and bill Pettis as an unconventional young fighter with crazy skills coming off a win over Holloway and I think it outsells the Aldo rematch with all non-hardcore fans.

  5. Another thing about Conor/Aldo is how the fuck does McGregor top the first bout? Knock him out in 10 seconds? If he fights Aldo again, there's a 99.9% chance he won't look as impressive as he did in the first fight. There's a tiny chance of him sparking Aldo out early again, and a much higher chance of him being dragged into a war. Don't get me wrong, a war between those two is a fight I'd love to see, but it's not entirely realistic. There's nothing for him in that Aldo fight for him that he couldn't get elsewhere.

Totally agree with this. Fuck Aldo. It's harsh to say and it sucks for him but what's the point in Mcgregor fighting him? He has nothing to gain and everything to lose.

I also agree that he has to defend the FW belt next or drop it. If he's dead set on holding both and wants to fight again before his baby is born then to me it makes sense to give him Pettis if Pettis beats Holloway.

Otherwise I say drop the FW belt and either do the Diaz trilogy fight or Ferguson before taking the break. Then do Khabib vs Alvarez during the break and let him return to take on the winner if he beats Ferguson or the loser if he doesn't. That would mean either taking on Khabib in a fight for the number one contender spot or an Alvarez that's fresh off a win against a monster like Khabib (and therefore credible again).

  6. Stumbled upon Brad Pickett's "One Punch Podcast" today. Episode 4 is the most recent one, so I don't think it's been around long. Can highly recommend it based on that though ... good insight from an active current UFC fighter with a bit of personality and humour thrown in for good measure:

Available on iTunes and Stitcher too.

  7. I don't think they need to do McGregor/Diaz 3 next, the hook is always going to be there down the line. I like the sound of Khabib/Ferguson with the winner getting McGregor if he takes time off for his kid. If not straight up Khabib/McGregor with the winner getting Ferguson or vice versa.

I agree. He could take on Diaz coming off a loss. Better to use his momentum in a fight that would benefit from it. Say against Khabib for example.

  8.

The spanner, of course, is that there's every chance now that he doesn't fight until he's back from the birth of his kid. That could easily be a year away with the due date in May.

I thought it was interesting at the press conference that he didn't know when the due date was ... even down to the month. Without wanting to sounds like a complete dick, I wonder how planned it was.

I'm not saying this is the case at all, but you never know. His girlfriend is just that at the moment, his girlfriend. Until they marry, she has fuck all right to any of his cash. For someone who has been there through the extremely tough times in Mcgregor's life and stood by him, it could certainly run through her mind. Now she's pregnant she will be guaranteed support and part of the pie.

Personally I don't think that's the case and that's just a cynical way of looking at it.

The due date seemed bizarre as his girlfriend certainly looked far closer to the March due Mcgregor said at first than May. May is still 6 and a half months away, which means his girlfriend is 2 and half months pregnant. However when you saw her post fight she looked far bigger than 2 to 2 and a half months in.

Yeah, that's a good point. It's also completely possible that he could fit in another (even 2!) fights before May, so why even announce it - I guess her size meant he had to. I thought I'd seen it confirmed since that May is right, but maybe it is March.

  9. You're not pissing anyone off as your posts are at least drawing some attention to the cards, cards I more than likely would have missed.

Yeah, exactly. It's pretty much how I manage to stay in touch with what's going on. I'll definitely be tuning in for the MVP fight and the main event this week.

  10. The spanner, of course, is that there's every chance now that he doesn't fight until he's back from the birth of his kid. That could easily be a year away with the due date in May.

  11. They're tax avoiding cunts.

I find their search engine to be dog shit too. You can't sort search results by price unless you pick a category first, but then you can't be sure every version of something you're looking for is listed in the same category.

Then when you do pick a category, the first 37 pages are filled with 1p items that are nothing like the thing you searched for.

Navigate to the site, search for the thing you want, sort by price, buy the cheapest version. Surely it isn't just me that follows that user journey!?

  12. GSP is basically the thinking mans Conor McGregor. He wears suits that actually fit him, is clean-shaven, can speak better English, and probably boasts a tasteful classical music CD collection.

  13. I haven't watched wrestling for many years but the connection between a cult (and actually quite shit) beer brand and John Cena seems beyond bizarre.

Surely the WWE have got the money to design something new and original for him. Ripping off an existing brand makes you look amateur to me ... like indy wrestler shirts from the 00s. (I'm looking at you Coca Cola Cabana!).

(Ok that Cabana shirt was actually quite cool at the time because it was worn by an actual indy wrestler. You get what I mean ...)

  14. So where in brum can you get a good pint of mild? I'm now on a quest to find a decent pint wherever I go.

    The Wellington is good: http://www.thewellingtonrealale.co.uk/

Short distance from New Street, Moor Street and Snow Hill stations.

The also maintain an online list of the beers they've currently got on: http://wellington.dns-systems.net/pages/beerboard.php

Edit: They've currently even got a mild on. (Number 11).

  15. Any recommendations on pubs to visit in Leeds? Looking mainly at getting a good ale. Have looked online & have also been a few times. We're going to be heading to Northern Monk Brewery as our hotel is close by & sample a few.

Don't want to sound like that guy but asking for pub recommendations and saying you're looking for a good ale is akin to asking for restaurant recommendations and saying you're looking for a good meat dish. Ale can be anything from a 3% pale bitter to an 11% imperial stout.

I'll make up for that pedantry by suggesting North Bar: http://www.northbar.com/ :)

Dominic Cruz vs a Ninja. Around 2008

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYQiPRUu7b0

Edit: why the fuck am I the only one on here that can't embed youtube clips?

How is that sparring? That looked like a fight with (very) slightly pulled punches on the ground. Nuts.

Yeah, it was definitely a fight - Cruz was walloping the shit out of him.

Easy to say something like "no wonder he's injured all the time!" ...
