Mike Mazzulli was on the MMA Hour this week, and he said he was in contact with the UFC within two hours after the actions of McGregor on the Bellator show the other night. He claims they told him that McGregor was definitely going to be on the December 30th show, and that as a result of his behaviour, he will no longer be fighting on the card.

Sounds like bollocks to me. Why would they take him off the card for that? They need him more than he needs them.

Would be very interested to find out if he would pass a drugs test tonight :omg:

Not with all the people claiming drugs. Don't see why there's any reason to assume that. He's always been a live wire. Easy to see how the occasion and his now mega stardom would be enough to result in him acting like that.

Yeah, on the clearer second clip that Jim posted, it's probably what you said. Either way though he's made a tit of himself.

Seeing stuff on social media now that he goes and does something similar a second time after a different fight. What a tit.

    Cocaine's a hell of a drug.

Yep. Man acts like a dick so MUST be on cocaine. 🤔😒

I had the same reaction as Wand. He just seems to be drunk on his own success. It's understandable but not excusable. Someone needs to take him to one side and tell him to cool it. Who's in a position to do that though!?

I'm not sure I agree with the whole revenge thing on Goddard though. To me he appears to just run into the cage, get confronted by Godddard (rightly so) and then he reacts to the way Goddard confronts him. Not enough there to suggest it's pre-mediated because of Poland.

I feel for his team mate. Guy goes and gets a win but it's instantly overshadowed by McGregor.

I'd hazard a guess that the reason they worked in the Whittaker defence clause is that they've had a couple of years now of their title scenes being held up by McGregor, and, to a much lesser extent, Bisping, so they wanted to make sure that if GSP did get the MW belt the situation would be resolved immediately, i.e. that the belt gets defended and either kept or lost, and that GSP doesn't just move back to WW after dropping the MW belt and thus de-valuing it.

Yeah, exactly. It gives the UFC all the control. If they want to enforce the Whittaker defence then they can. GSP doesn't become another Mcgregor just running roughshod all over them.

Surely he would have been flagged for cocaine use as well as the steroid they found unless I've completely misunderstood the process?

Aren't they saying that the cocaine leaves your system quickly but the steroid (that's contaminated the creatine that your cocaine was cut with) doesn't?

So the cocaine would be out of your system before you're tested but the steroid wouldn't be.

I also remember there being talk at the time that Jones was busted for cocaine that USADA shouldn't be testing for cocaine anyway because it's not on the banned substance list as a performance enhancer.

  7. Nathaniel Wood defends his Bantam Weight title for the first time the weekend after next:

I don't really know Josh Reed but he's 7-0 with 6 finishes and the last 3 of those were in Cage Warriors. Wood can only be a couple of wins away from a UFC call up at this point too.

I quite fancy going along but the cheap tickets are standing and I can't be arsed with the back ache. :p

Honestly, the guy is a tit. He changes his mind based on raw emotion frequently. I wouldn't be surprised if we see it all changed again the next time Dana goes in the huff over something.

As true as that is, his post fight presser comments about it were hilarious:

Reporter: "Dana, just wondering with yesterday you saying the Bisping GSP fight has sailed and today obviously that being switched ..."

Dana: "That ship turned around and fucking sailed back!"

Reporter: "I was just wondering if you could clarify exactly when that decision was made"

    Dana: "Fucking round 5!"

    :p (12 mins 40 seconds):

  9. I've watched the finish back now and his shots that ended looked even more impressive that in person. I hope he defends the belt. It's brutal for Cage Warriors if fighters win the belt and then always fuck off to the UFC.

Interesting info about seats, cheers. I bought standing because I'm cheap but I also wanted to actually go and just watch the fights so I ended up standing at the barrier all night. I was fucked by the end of it. Seats would be tempting for next time but the trouble I have is mates that aren't into it quite enough to pay more than the minimum. Biggest issue with downstairs (outside of having to stand the whole time) is that the cage is on the stage ... so when it goes to ground you basically can't see anything.

    Objection!

I know you put the :p but people do actually spout that and they're serious. And it's shite. Hot steaming shite. He's finished 6 of his 10 title defences. With both strikes and submissions. He's been more of a finisher as champ than GSP or Jones were.

Yeah, that was tongue in cheek. To be honest, I could hear people complaining about the concept of DJ 'destroying' someone. Maybe 'dominated' would be a better description.

  11. In a way DJ is the worst thing for the division. He's so much better than everyone else that there's just no credibility to fights at the top end of the class. Everybody knows that the moment someone fights DJ, they're getting destroyed*. There's just no interest in it.

*danced around for a decision loss :p

I was at the Cage Warriors this evening, generally a pretty good show. Craig Whyte, Inman & Wood all the major highlights for me. Shameless plug but on my Twitter I posted a video of the crowd losing it when Wood scored the finish tonight, really awesome scenes. Worth a look @SeanWalford on Twitter.

Me too. I thought Kenneth Bergh looked decent as well.

What's up with the crowd at Cage Warriors though? Peak audience size must've been around the Inman fight (when it was full up). By the time the main event started, the place was half empty.

Wood took some shots early but otherwise looked amazing. Some solid take down defence and then ridiculous power and hand speed. Surely he'd only a win or two away now from a UFC contract.

I fell asleep during the Cheick Kongo fight so missed the co and main event.

I think that's the worst MMA fight I've ever seen. I hate it when the crowd boo a fight, but it was hard to sympathise with the fighters for that one. Neither of them seemed to care if they won or lost.

Anyone there? How full was the arena? On TV it appeared about half full to be honest. Bellator keep coming here and booking big venues but not filling them out, unless I'm wrong?

Half way through the prelims I was making plans to sneak into a better seat. By the time the main card started it was full - looked like a sell out.
