  1. One of the greatest American films of all time by one of the greatest American directors.
  2. This Belinda Carlisle discussion doesn't feel right without a @Bellenda Carlisle contribution.
  3. The Teachers' Lounge (cinema) Films set in schools are usual manipulative, clichéd crap but this is one of the few that captures the complexities and challenges of being a part of the education process on any level. Anxiety-inducing and superbly acted. The Ox-Bow Incident (Talking Pictures TV) Magnificent western, more like a courtroom drama played out on the plains. Dark, depressing and one of the earliest westerns to be loudly critical of western mythology. Henry Fonda is one of the greatest actors of all time. Making Mr. Right (YouTube) Did you ever want to see John Malkovch in a dual role, playing a scientist and an android who falls in love with a human woman and pulling off some of the better slapstick comedy you could wish to see? Of course you do. This was great. Testament (1983) Incredibly depressing nuclear fallout drama. Would have scared the absolute shit out of me as a kid, like The Day After did, and it's still really affecting stuff today. Doesn't provide any light at all. Would make for a nice double-bill with Threads if you really wanted to feel bad. Beyond Re-Animator What an excellent trilogy this is. I don't think this is far below the quality of the first two, even if it's a little slow getting going. I'm going to watch them all on the same day when October rolls round. Kronos (YouTube) Really enjoyable old 50s sci-fi horror about a massive alien robot that tries to suck all the energy out of the earth. Like you do. Nope I still think this is the weaker of Jordan Peele's three films to date but only because Get Out and Us are so amazingly good. Just love the genre crossing and imagination that's gone into this.
  4. Always enjoy it when Guardiola asks what crowd there is in the Etihad to make more noise and there's a half decibel response.
  5. Finished the second series of Vigil, the usual solid and enjoyable BBC fare. This one had Romola Garai in it though so it was better than the first one. Started watching Boys from the Blackstuff as well. Haven't seen it since I was a kid. Might do an Alan Bleasdale binge, he never missed. Still doing Hill Street Blues. Still brilliant. Nearly at the end The Office series 7, still good so far. Series 3 of It's Always Sunny is excellent too, as widely reported, I believe.

On this occasion I wasn't talking specifically about her casual anti-semitism, I was talking about her transphobia. The Holocaust is recognised as an umbrella term for a number of groups targeted and murdered by the Nazis. https://theconversation.com/historians-are-learning-more-about-how-the-nazis-targeted-trans-people-205622 By denying that they were targeted during the Holocaust, Rowling is engaging in Holocaust denial. https://www.themarysue.com/j-k-rowling-appears-to-sic-lawyers-on-queer-critic/
  7. Phoenix is widely known to be one of the absolute nicest people in the industry and the dealings we've had with her on the site I work for have backed that up.

It's not really unclear, though. She tweeted a denial that trans people were targeted by the Nazis during the Holocaust.

Are you looking for a specific conversation about the Holocaust or are you talking about her stance in general?

'JK Rowling is a Holocaust' has been trending for about 2 days now. She's out-Streisaned Streisand.
  11. Every one of her matches up to this year's Mania were pointless. She didn't face a single person in that time who even felt remotely a threat to taking the title from her because they didn't make the effort to make any of them a credible threat. Raquel Rodriguez has disappeared. Zoey Starks is in a comedy tag team. Zelina Vega is a valet. Nia Jax has disappeared. That's just off the top of my head. A procession of 'oh we need someone to wrestle Rhea, who hasn't lost to her yet?'

Something to do with the goblins in her books resembling offensive Jewish caricatures.

There's plenty of evidence that Rowling is an anti-semite from her books (I believe) and now this. She should be thankful that she's the world's most famous terf as it's covered up her other prejudices.
  14. Rhea's title reign has been shite, through no fault of her own. She's been great despite it. A year of Matches with no feuds or decent angles. Appallingly booked. There's an argument to be had that she didn't need the title because all her great stuff has been Judgement Day related.
  15. They're gonna use this to turn Liv Morgan heel, aren't they. Great.
  16. Title race is over, give City another asterisk title, end the season, County are promoted already anyway.
  17. Well at least @Gooner doesn't have to worry about Spurs chucking any games now.
  18. Solo was excellent at WrestleMania. Barking orders at Reigns - that wasn't done on the fly, they'll feed back into that further down the line, and in a way they already have with what happened on Friday. He's been used superbly since he arrived, not over-exposed at all but positioned as extremely dangerous.
  19. "And her opponent, accompanied by Krystle Carrington...."
  20. You could make a cause for almost all Flaming Lips album artwork, but especially this.
