TheBigBoot Posted July 28, 2007 Share Posted July 28, 2007 (edited) In an as-of-yet unrelated note that may seem totally off-topic, but may also wind up being totally on-topic, the July 30th Wrestling Observer reports that there are tentative plans to retire the WWE Cruiserweight title (hence Hornswoggle winning it, burying the title) and setting up a more serious, pushed TNA-like 'X-Division' and new title belt, with the division having a new name other than 'cruiserweights' and 'light heavyweights'. I'll believe all of this when I see it like, but it makes sense to start pushing 'smaller' guys, given the way this Congressional investigation and will sure go and wind up.I think pushing guys who at least look natural could be something we see soon. Not necessarily just the smaller guys though. Watching Raw the past few weeks, I did think that with the way Dusty Rhodes and Jerry Lawler have been involved in angles/storylines on Raw, combined with the high-profile feud between Umaga and Jeff Hardy and even Mick Foley being back briefly that I don't think anyone tuning in to see if everyone looks like a muscle-bound superhero would look at Jeff or Dusty and think they were Superman!The physiques of two of the biggest stars in the company Edge and Shawn Michaels (and their lack of muscles) have already been discussed extensively in this thread a few pages back. As an example if you took those seven along with guys like CM Punk, Carlito, The Sandman, Jim Duggan, William Regal, Dave Taylor, Finlay, Super Crazy, Trevor Murdoch and Big Daddy V - you've got a bunch of guys who compete in the 'heavyweight division' without looking like bodybuilders. If you had one roster consisting of those seventeen guys, together with Paul London and Brian Kendrick (staying as a team) and then add all the Cruisers (and possibly hire some more) it would certainly change the perception of what WWE SuperstarsTM look like.And before someone says "but all those guys are 'roided to the gills", as I said it's guys who look like there physiques could be natural. Re. Creating a new title it would make sense since the Cruiserweight Division has been pretty good as of late with Chavo, Yang, Noble, Funaki and Moore all getting a fair bit of air time recently. If Mysterio is going to compete in it, it would give it some star power. Then you've got Helms (when he comes back) and they could always move Nunzio and Daivari (although he just moved) from ECW and Raw respectively at some point. They should be able to suspend or fire guys, if they fail a drug test, just like I would be sacked if I failed a drug test, at my work.The US government is going to make sure they carry out these drug tests, like they would if there was a problem in any other work place.
