The Song Of The Day Thread

The Spiritual Beggars - 'Wonderful World'

This song is from The Spritual Beggars 2000 album 'Ad Astra' and I'll happily engage in fisticuffs with anyone who doesn't think that this track rocks. The solo at 02:25 is amazing.

Sunn O))) & Julian Cope - 'My Wall'

A really fun little ditty from Sunn O)))'s 2003 album 'White One'. This is the perfect song to listen to while doing summery things like having a barbeque, washing the car or getting ready to go down the pub - you'll just love the sweeping solos, the amazing riffs and the sing-along lyrics.

I  this thread. And i seem to  Parksmarks musical tastes also. I needs to get me some of The Ting Tings instantly.

Summery, yeah? Everyone would have probably heard this at some point, somewhere as i'm sure it's been used a bunch of times in sport montages and adverts and the like. Which isn't surprising in the slightest as it's a beautiful little piece of music that'll make you feel just loverly.

Me too, man. And thanks for the love. Reminds me, I haven't given any shouts to some of the good stuff I've heard on here recently.Definitely digging the following:Jens Lenkman - Black CabStrip Squad - Pervert/ExpertAlkaline Trio - Fire Down BelowI've also always had love for that Sigur Ros song, the video is ace. Camera Obscura is always good too. I'm undecided on that Teenagers song - it sounds kinda like [pompous music critic] M83 covering Weezer's Sweater Song [/pompous music critic], which hey - can't be bad can it? But the lyrics/talking bits really really rub me the wrong way. Edited by Parkamarka

 Well, thank you. I'm also a fan of Camera Obscura having only got into them about a month ago, they're just lovely during exam and work season.Has anyone heard the We Are Scientist's version of Hoppipola? It's surprisingly good. I'd upload it but it's on my Zen not my computer and I couldn't find it on Limewire, I'll try and make the effort in another short while. In the meantime, here's some soul. Enjoy. :)Percy Sledge - The dark end of the streetAlso, is anyone into Ludovico Einaudi at the moment? I first heard him on This is England, but I've downloaded a bit of his stuff and it's excellent. Really impressive piano and classical stuff with a contemporary feel. Edited by HBAndy

I like that Teenagers song, but it feels like the kind of song that gets old quite quickly. Still, I'm enjoying it for now. I'm also really liking Okkervil River, and any Alkaline Trio is always good. I gave Goddamit a few plays over the last week and it's just as great as I remembered it.

I've also been listening to At The Drive In again recently, and have uploaded a song from In/Casino/Out as I never feel like the other albums get enough attention compared to Relationship Of Command. ROC is an absolutely classic album, but the others are great as well. I have lots of love for Acrobatic Tenement too, which a lot of people seem to dismiss as a weak early effort.

At The Drive In - Pickpocket

Here's a song by Grandaddy that you may recognise as I think it's been used for an advert or two fairly recently, and was also on the 28 Days Later soundtrack. It's simple, fun and instantly catchy.
