Gooner Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Main card: Daniel Dubois vs. Fabio Wardley 2- WBO heavyweight title Louie O'Doherty vs. Michael Gomez Jr - British and Commonwealth lightweight title Bakhodir Jalolov vs. Solomon Dacres - heavyweight Tony Curtis vs. Kerim Agius - super-flyweight Leighton Birchall vs. Luis Vara Carrillo - featherweight We get to see this main event run back on Saturday night at the O2 Arena, after what was a fight of the year contender back in May 2026, which Dubois came out victories in with a 11th round stoppage to claim the WBO heavyweight title and in the process becoming a two-time heavyweight champion of the world. The first fight had almost everything you could wish for, Wardley putting Dubois down twice in the first and third round respectively, Dubois winning basically all the other rounds he wasn't knocked down in, putting a absolute beating on Wardley, who would not go down, nor quit even when for a number of the later rounds being barely able to stand, but still swinging away, trying to catch Dubois with that one shot that could turn the fight back in to his favour and derail Dubois, but it wasn't to be and Dubois finally was able to get the stoppage victory in the 11th round. Dubois had for a long time taking criticism in his career that when it is put on him, he doesn't have the heart to recover and will quit on himself, but he showed an abundance of heart in this fight to recover from the two early knockdowns, dominate the majority of the fight and finally force home a stoppage win to become heavyweight champion of the world again. Now onto Wardley, I mean the chin, heart and will he showed was one of the bravest and hardest thing at the same time I have ever seen in a boxing ring. There was numerous times where the fight could have been stopped(maybe should have been before it finally was) and no one would have had any complaints. I can't wait to witness it all over again. The fight main card begins from 7pm, Dubios vs. Wardley ringwalks are due to happen around 10.30pm and the card is being shown on DAZN PPV and DAZN Ultimate Tier. Quote
NeverYield Posted October 12 Posted October 12 Looking forward to this, I fear Wardley's nose may open up again very quickly though Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 12 Paid Members Posted October 12 Dont be silly, Wardley's nose will open up at the press conference you don't have to wait until the fight. I love Fabio. I'm happy he backed himself after just a few white collar fights, but this is the level where not having a solid grasp of the fundamentals really notes, no matter how hard you punch. He's got a lot of heart, but no defence and while Danny Dubious may have his own flaws he is the better boxer and harder puncher. I can't see anything other than another stoppage win for Dan after Fabio takes another battering. Mind you I'm about as good at predicting as David Haye, so get lumped on Wardley. Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 13 Paid Members Posted October 13 Favoured Wardley since it was announced, just got a feeling. I know people are talking about Wardley's health but I dont think he's the kind of guy that would take a fight he wasn't physically prepared for. Dubois is always prone to getting hurt and maybe an over-confidence will lead him it happening again. Wardley by KO. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted October 13 Posted October 13 (edited) Both have achieved more than I expected. I would have never guessed that Wardley would beat Parker and win a version of a world title. Especially after he scraped a draw against Frazer Clarke. I was also never really on the Dubois bandwagon either. I still don't think he's an ATG heavyweight, but he did a lot better against Joshua and Hrgović than I expected him to. As for their rematch this weekend, I'm picking Dubois. I'm not sure if Wardley's durability will be the same after the beating he sustained during their first meeting, and I don't have much faith in Wardley's team to make the needed adjustments. Always a chance that Wardley lands big and secures a stoppage, but I lean towards that not occurring. Edited October 13 by jimufctna24 Quote
NeverYield Posted October 14 Posted October 14 Yeah Dan does have some big flaws but the skill gap between him and Wardley is still very big But you cant totally write Wardley off,if he can pace himself a bit more and not just spam the right hand then he has a better chance Dont get me wrong hes got to jump on dubois asap but he must be more tactful this time out Quote
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted October 16 Paid Members Posted October 16 “GIMME SOME O’ THAT FACE-TO-FACE SHIT, BOY” Favouring Dubois again but fuck knows really? Last fight was wild but got really uncomfortable to watch by the end with Wardley basically being a zombie the last three rounds. Quote
NeverYield Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Daniel 'dabbling in a bit of Harp playing' was hilarious aha.. and that joke Wardley cracked,it took a minute but then Dubois laughed his head off, I think Dans brilliant 🤣 Quote
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted October 17 Paid Members Posted October 17 Fabio is coming in a little heavier, this is gonna be a shootout. Quote
NeverYield Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Having a fantastic evening so far, house is empty which is great as this week has been hectic, curries ordered, and we are all very likely to witness another absolute tear up again, got the anticipation building now. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 17 Paid Members Posted October 17 That's some prime bullshit in the scoring for the O'Doherty v Gomez Jr fight on the undercard. If you were very generous you could perhaps give O'Doherty 4 rounds. Majority draw my arse. Quote
thevestofdeanambrose Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Devastating from Dubois! Could have easily stopped that in the 1st! Also agreed. Poor Gomez Jnr robbed of a win and a title. Quote
Paid Members Lion_of_the_Midlands Posted October 17 Paid Members Posted October 17 I thought Wardley looked a shell of himself before they started and I know Dubois hits hard but Wardley had no punch resistance at all. That first fight obviously took a lot more out of him than he thought. Quote
jimufctna24 Posted October 17 Posted October 17 Yeah, I wouldn't blame Wardley if he called it a day. Massively overachieved in the sport and has probably banked plenty of dough. Nothing left to gain or prove. Quote
