Our house was full of kids and it was so exhausting I think I need to sleep for a month. Christmas kayfabe was broken for her a couple of years ago sadly. Genuinely made me sad that that little bit of magic is now gone for her. And now we’re constantly having to remind her to keep her big gob shut so she doesn’t ruin it for her little brother because it’s still real to him dammit. Quote
Paid Members Supremo Posted December 26, 2025 Paid Members Posted December 26, 2025 Almost as magical as both kid’s believing has been my son (9) cottoning on, but keeping the magic alive for his sister (5). “Wow, you must have been extra good this year for Santa to leave so many presents!” If anything, he’s more enthralled by the whole thing now we’ve broken kayfabe. My friend had been searching for a specific toy for her kid and my son thought it was amazing I spotted it in a local B&M, called her, and she drove for miles to come pick it up. Can’t imagine where he inherited this fascination for backstage leaks and scoops. Quote
NeverYield Posted December 26, 2025 Posted December 26, 2025 (edited) Magic still alive for my eldest (8), back in the day my father used to ring some bells when we were all settling down, Mum would appear saying 'can you hear that', or the bells would be passed to a neighbour so me and my brothers could hear the bells with both Mum and Dad there. I remember as a kid it being the most magical part of my Christmas. Dad kept the very same bells and I ring them to this day for my daughters, eldest loves it but my youngest is autistic and non verbal and hasn't really got any interest bless her but Im sure she gets into the Christmas spirit in her own way. But yeah, the bell tradition is alive and well, ive climbed into the loft, scaled the house on a ladder, and used all sorts of tactics to keep the magic alive, and one day I'll pass the bells on again so any grandchildren can experience the fun.
