Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted yesterday at 02:17 PM Author Paid Members Posted yesterday at 02:17 PM (edited) I don’t know, I feel like if the Basharats were such a pain to deal with behind the scenes, we’d have heard something about it in the past. Farid never came across as problematic or like he had a bad attitude or anything and it’s not like Dana is usually shy about slagging his fighters off if they cause him headaches. If anything, Farid went out of his way to be a company man. He actually still went ahead with a fight after his opponent (Victor Hugo at UFC 308) came in a whopping 9.5lbs over the weight limit. This isn’t like the Mokaev situation where there was clearly shit going on with him like the time he sucker punched Manel Kape at the PI or wherever it was. When Dana hinted at him being a nightmare to deal with, it rang true. Never got that same vibe off Basharat though. I think it’s just because they see him as boring. Which is fine. It’s their prerogative who they renew or let go. I just think Dana’s waffling shite again. ‘There’s a reason he’s gone…but I’m not telling you’. Piss off. Mad though when being boring is considered a sackable offence but being a rapist, racist or domestic abuser is fine and dandy. Edited yesterday at 02:18 PM by wandshogun09 Quote
d-d-d-dAz Posted yesterday at 04:03 PM Posted yesterday at 04:03 PM Someone made the point earlier about it not being like boxing, but i'd disagree. I'd just say the way boxing dispatches boring fighters is more cynical. The way boxing promoters work, you can throttle someone on their way up if you'd rather they didn't continue to improve - get them beat early - or just simply not offer them the right fights, or any fights. One very well known promoter once said to me of a very fancied young prospect, with lots of very serious backers... 'the problem with this kid is, one day he'll beat everyone and not make a penny for anyone. If we don't get him beat soon, we're all fucked.' Dana often gets finished products and has to put them publicly out of their misery. Boxing is very often able to kill off the problem before anyone notices. Quote
