I know it's in New York which is Jones' backyard, but it'll be interesting how the crowd reacts if he smashes Stipe and then retires. Aspinall is likely to be there and I wouldn't put it passed the UFC pushing Tom into the cage post fight to try and out the pressure on Jones. Gonna be interesting.

If that’s how it plays out and they put him on the spot like that I can see Jones teasing sticking around to fight Aspinall in that moment, but then backtracking later. He’s not gonna wanna lose face by publicly declining the fight to Aspinall’s face in front of the MSG crowd, surely. His ego won’t allow it. It’s all fucking pointless in the end though because it’s clear he’s got no intention of actually doing it. I actually think there’d be more chance of Stipe hanging on to fight Aspinall if he somehow beat Jones. I still don’t think that happens either but I think it’s still more likely than Jones vs Aspinall.

Alex Pereira's former kickboxing foe Artem Vakhitov got a 1st roung KO on Contenders Series. Pereira was there to vouch for the fella too. I wouldn't be surprised if the UFC make a bit of a special case here and maybe shoeshorn Vakhitov in, set up with a gimme then sell a trilogy with Pereira.

BeardMeatsFood, a UK YouTuber who does food challenges took on a chicken wing challenge in Liverpool, which Paddy Pimblett had the record for and Paddy himself turned up to watch. I know how much of a knobhead Paddy has been in the past but he comes across pretty well here and seems a good sport.

I'd have no issue with him if it weren't for his views on immigrants, which are really quite racist. In every other respect, he comes across as a decent (if very annoying) bloke.

Think Topuria doesn’t wanna fight that quick of a turnaround plus I’m sure him and his wife just had a baby not long ago so understandably he actually wants to spend Christmas with them rather than in a sweaty gym with big ugly blokes. Obviously the winner of this would be the guaranteed next in line for a shot at the title.

Also, this same guy is strongly hinting that Belal Muhammad is out of the Shavkat fight at 310 in December. Not sure what they’d do if that’s the case. Doubt they’ll have someone step in, nor would I blame Shavkat if he refuses to fight someone else. But there’s no obvious option for a substitute main event. They’ll most likely call on Alex Pereira again but, fuck me, how many times can they expect him to step in like this? Eventually it’s gonna backfire and they’re gonna derail and kill off their biggest current active star.

Nah it’s supposedly Belal that’s out so it wouldn’t be a rematch. Depending on how long Belal might be out though, it wouldn’t surprise me if they try and do an interim title fight between Leon and Shavkat. I doubt Leon would step in and risk it usually but if there’s an interim title to sweeten it then he might. And let’s face it, before the loss in Manchester, Leon vs Shavkat was the fight we were looking forward to before Belal messed it up. I wouldn’t hate it. Don’t think it ends well for Leon though.

Didn’t see the match itself but Carlos Condit lost a decision to MVP at Polaris.

Anyone see it? Never thought I’d see the day when Condit’s losing a grappling match to fucking MVP of all people!

I assume it will pop up on Youtube on the official channel at some point. Skim reading some the thread on Reddit says the main factor was that MVP is younger, still active, and alot bigger than Carlos. Condit is three years retired already, so probably is not in peak strength now and is enjoying his retirement.

Erm, I hope this is some kind of mistake but the UFC website has UFC 310 listed as being on TNT Sports Box Office. Yeah, again. That’d be 3 in a row on Box Office which is an absolute piss take.

 

Out of curiosity, I scrolled down and looked at 311, which doesn’t even have fights listed yet, and that’s also listed on the site as being on Box Office. Is this it now? Is every numbered event gonna be £20 on top of the monthly sub? It’s all gone a bit DAZN.
