Fog Dude
Fog Dude is off in Germany eating bratwürst and looking at the World Cup, so he had forwarded me this weeks card for everyone's favourite thing.... an international break. First of all, thanks for posting this very punctually despite the forum downtime. Ha, I did see the balcony of the town hall on which the German players received a civic reception after their landed on a flight back from Brazil, but I don't know where the DFB is hiding the trophy itself. And yes, my Saturday evening meal did involve barbecued sausages, but never mind that. Onto the resumption of normal service, starting with my picks: UEFA Euro 2016 qualification - various groups Austria 3-2 Sweden Georgia 0-1 Ireland Germany 3-1 Scotland Gibraltar w/Shy Dad 1-3 Poland Greece 1-1 Romania Hungary 2-1 Northern Ireland Switzerland 1-2 England Ukraine 2-2 Slovakia Africa Cup of Nations qualifying Group B Ethiopia 0-0 Algeria Caribbean Cup qualifying Group 3 Martinique 2-0 Suriname

Fog Dude
Sorry for the chronic lateness here everyone. Things are hectic right now. In the 8 days I was away, I was only online for a few hours in total (as I'd expected), so I've been playing catch-up since I got back. Although I'm not going abroad again until May or June - ideally the latter since this season finishes so late - I am busy sorting out where exactly I'm going to live for most of the coming year. So, the next few rounds could be slightly disrupted too. Apologies in advance, but consider yourselves forewarned. On a footballing note, I took in a goalless draw in the German 2nd division while I was gone. Much smaller crowd than you'd get at almost any Championship fixture. Sami Khedira's brother was booked. Anyway, enough of the 'personal blog' stuff, because the FPL's at its best when these threads don't start to sound like that. By international standards, it was a fairly low-scoring round. I wasn't able to edit the opening post this week, of course, but I did update the table on Monday night and upload it just before Raw started. It was ballsy of Shy Dad to bag Gibraltar as his D2D team so early and then bet on them to win. All 21 other participants unsurprisingly, and correctly, disagreed. An away win was a near-universal pick, with only a couple of fellow players even backing the boys from The Rock to score a goal in the Algarve. Nobody quite managed the exact score, mind. Two people came closest with guesses of 6 and 8 Polish goals. Elsewhere, victories for Romania, Slovakia and both Irish teams surprised most, as did England's ultimately comfortable victory to a lesser extent. A majority did also backed Germany to see off Scotland, but Sweden's failure to win in Austria proved less foreseeable. The games on other continents were a mixed bag. The stalemate in the Caribbean was the less fruitful of the two outcomes. That'll do for now. New thread up soonish.

Much smaller crowd than you'd get at almost any Championship fixture. Sami Khedira's brother was booked. That surprises me. I saw Augsburg vs Munster live last season and that was a 3rd division game and the crowd was 26,000. To be fair it was a derby but still, 26,000 is nuts. Who did you see play? Sorry for going off topic but this week is over now anyway. (my bad it was Bielefeld vs Munster)
