Daft bastard time.

I'm away and forgot to set my virgin TiVo thingy to record this. Will it be on the catch up?

Doesn't get added to virgin catch up. Alternatively if you have a smartphone get their 'TV Anywhere' app you can remotely record, presuming the box is on and connected to the Internet.

Wow, just done that! Thanks a lot, Sean. And thanks for the offer, Herb, really decent of you, mate.

Apparently, despite the Dillashaw-Faber fallout, Team Alpha Male's Justin Buchholz is still going to be cornering Dillashaw tonight.

Faber quote;

"We're actually sending out Justin Buchholz in [Dillashaw's] corner to help make sure the job gets done. If you look at it from a pure financial standpoint, that's a fight people want to see and that's the reality of things. He came from diapers to a world championship under our banner."

"This will be the last time that we send someone out to his corner. Justin will be out there to hopefully calm the nerves of Duane Ludwig, who's a nervous mess in the corner. That guy would probably pass out or crap himself if he's not medicated properly in the corner. It's got to be a little unnerving for T.J. going in there with a new team, but hopefully he gets the job done and we can have a big fight. I'll take the belt from one of my own."

I get Faber's logic in that he sees the Dillashaw fight as the bigger one for him so he wants Dillashaw to win tonight. Still though, what a unique and strange situation this has turned into. A guy helping his new enemy beat his old enemy so they can fight. It's pure pro wrestling.

Faber can't really lose either way though. Him vs Dillashaw has that teacher vs student dynamic, a bit of the old Rocky Balboa vs Tommy Gunn feel to it and it's been brewing ages. And if Cruz wins tonight we get Cruz vs Faber 3, a fight that should've happened four years ago and would decide the trilogy in a feud that's lasted 8 years.

It's weird because Dillashaw seems to be on great terms with all the big guns from Alpha Male excpet for Faber. He said that for this camp, Jospeh Benavidez, Lance Palmer and Danny Castillo have all been there to help him.

Whatever happens this will probably go the distance.... (prolly be a 10 sec KO now lol).

Cruz did look good in his last fight. I like Cruz's movement and the way he sets up his attacks with darts and crouches so he can exit in multi-directions etc. TJ has good movement too, but I give the edge to Cruz in that respect.

For Power I'd prolly give that to TJ, he finished Barao decisively. So this one's a flip of the coin for me, I'll go with either a decision win for Cruz or a late stoppage for TJ

Chuffed for Cruz. Gutted for Pettis

The Main Event was a horrible fight to score. I had it 48-47 in Cruz's favour, I scored rounds 1-3 for him. I thought the judge who scored it 49-46 for Cruz was a bit kind, as I felt rounds 4 and 5 were T.J's rounds. Cruz winning makes for a much better story.

I'm sure the result of the co-main will be disputed as well. I scored it 29-28 to Pettis. Round 1 seems to be the point of contention, I scored it for Pettis based on his work being more meaningful. However, it's what you like. Alvarez got his tactics right, and fought really well. I'm not sure where Pettiz goes from here. A rematch with RDA and a mouth-watering clash with McGregor are both off the table for now. Based on his performance tonight, I don't think he would be ready either anyway.

The main event went exactly as I thought it would. The takedowns were definitely a vital part of the fight. Cruz's variation just too good

Obviously I know you can't discount the kick but if it were not for the injured leg I think we would have seen a 5-0 for Cruz.

Genuinely concerned for his leg as well. Fingers crossed it's not his knee.

That being said, what Cruz has achieved is nothing short of miraculous. 3 years away, fuck ring rust and 3 acl surgeries and a torn groin.

Pettis may well be done. That beating RDA gave him has torn away his mystique and he now looks completely gun shy. His stock really is in the gutter.

I had it 29-28 Alvarez too.

Ahh, that's interesting. If I remember correctly, I thought the second round could have gone either way but 1 and 3 were clearly Alvarez's. To the point, actually, where I was gobsmacked that it was even a split decision. It wasn't a glam performance, but credit to Alvarez for executing a gameplan. I'm not particularly excited about seeing him fight anyone going forward, but it's still a big wiin.

I also had Cruz winning 48-47, him taking 1-3 and TJ taking 4-5. I thought R2 was razor close, though, and I actually thought the judges were going to favour TJ based on his more effective striking. It was one of those where, if you were judging who won the fight as opposed to who won the rounds, I think you'd get a different decision. I'm very happy for Cruz though.

Textonly, what would you call effective striking though? For 3 rounds Cruz was barely hit.

Dillashaw was certainly throwing more volume, but more effective? I don't agree with that.

Well, it was one of those fights where both guys' movement is so good that you expect a low success rate. TJ was struggling to hit Cruz, Cruz was struggling to hit TJ. When TJ did land, though, I think it was generally harder and did more damage. I mean, I know it wasn't that damaging either, but comparatively speaking. That's all I meant by "effective" in this one case. My memory of Round 2 was that Dillashaw and Cruz both landed very little, but Dillashaw's punches looked like they had a bit more on them. Do you give Cruz the whole round for two very quick takedowns or for TJ for slightly getting the better of 4.5 minutes of uneventful striking? I gave it to Cruz and I'm glad the judges did too, but I thought maybe the judges would be so striking obsessed that they'd choose the latter.

I completely understand if anyone disagrees though. I love Cruz's style. I just thought tonight he was a bit tentative going forward and the judges might have punished him for it.

Wow - so happy for Cruz - what a tough journey. Amazing fighter & a class act. Had him winning first 3 rounds definitely, and maybe squeezed the 4th - but he deserves this. That movement~

Edit: people on twitter are saying that Faber challenged Cruz and it got heated & Jon Anik had to break it up - where did this happen??

okay, found it: https://youtu.be/s_kfu839OVU
