Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 17, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 17, 2015 http://www.ufc.com/news/Josh-Samman-Coming-Back-To-Life there's a UFC article about Josh Samman's story, it ties in with the fight where he scored that headkick KO. Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 18, 2015 Author Paid Members Share Posted December 18, 2015 This fight tomorrow night is the last on Overeem's UFC contract and, like Bendo recently, he's going to test free agency following the fight. Bit of a gamble because if he loses badly against JDS (which there's a strong possibility of) he's going to get a shitter offer from the UFC than if he'd signed a contract extension before the fight. If he wins though, it'll look like a stroke of genius in hindsight because his stock would rise big time with a win over JDS. He'd be the number one contender IMO then. And the UFC aren't exactly loaded with heavyweight contenders. Funny old position Overeem's got himself in here. More than ever this is a must win situation for him. JDS is looking pretty sharp from bits I've seen of him working the pads and stuff this week. I know you can't read much into that but seeing him firing off the fast punching combinations I couldn't help but wonder how the fuck Overeem's going to handle that. EDIT - Just read that Dominick Cruz is going to be commentating alongside Goldberg and Rogan for the Dos Anjos vs Cerrone fight tomorrow night. Only the main event as far as I can tell. Love this idea. Always liked the three man commentary team. I wonder if this is going to be something they do more going forward. Or it could be that they're testing out alternatives for colour commentators because Rogan's been hinting at stepping away recently.
pryko
That one vote for Overeem by KO. That was me. Watch what he does tomorrow. 2015 is the year the old, slow Brazilians gte finished off. Weidman took a few out, some Irish fella won some fight last week against one and now it's Overeem's turn.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted December 18, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 18, 2015 I love Dominic Cruz, especially when he analyses the fights in studio. I don't think anyone comes close to him in that respect. However, what worries me is that he has a dull as fuck voice. He doesn't have much range and I don't think commentary, at least colour anyway, is his calling. I could be wrong of course, but that's the impression I get from him. In regards to Overeem, it's certainly a ballsy move but it's so hard to look past JDS. Overeem can of course win with the power that he possesses, and I think he needs to hope for 1 of 2 things. Either JDS's chin is gone after his wars with Cain and Miocic, or he lands one of those crushing liver kicks and finishes JDS on the ground. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 18, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 18, 2015 im fancying Overeem tomorrow as well. When he comes out smart and respects his opponents power he's probably more effective than when he comes out blasting. Overeem only really tends to lose fights you expect him to win. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins a comfortable decision. it's nice to see Nate Diaz looking so motivated too, been a while. I think Johnson's all wrong for him though, i think it'll be a long, painful night for Diaz.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted December 18, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 18, 2015 Yep, Nate looks happy too. Although in that Fox promo you can't help but laugh at his statements. "I'm not going to take fights just to take fights" Then 5 mins later:- "I'm back, I'll fight anybody!" I think Johnson is winning this too. His style and movement is as you say, all wrong for Diaz. METAL ON METAL
They just got into a scuffle at the hotel, Nate pushed Johnson and they had to be separated. Seems to happen with any Diaz pre-fight.
David
The Diaz brothers really are odious pricks of the highest order. I love nothing more than seeing them lose then cry about it.
seanz25
Bookies odds where great for a nate win last night considering he looks fantastic shape wise.
Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 19, 2015 Author Paid Members Share Posted December 19, 2015 Really looking forward to this. What a way to end the year. Nice earlier start as well with the prelims starting at 10pm on BT Sport. Like 194, it's not an easy card to predict. Dos Anjos - decision JDS - first round KO Johnson - decision Them are my gut feelings but I could see them all going the other way. Great card. Tamdan McCrory needs to get the old Bic razors out. Shocking.
Paid Members lambyUK Posted December 19, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 19, 2015 It took me a while to work out you were talking about his slap heed. Initially I thought for a second he was rockin a classic 70's bush based on Rogan's eyes in the first pic and octagon girl's reaction in the 3rd. Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 19, 2015 Paid Members Share Posted December 19, 2015 McCrory's hair is going the same way as mine, for that reason alone i root for him.
Brock Goldberg
Another very good card on paper. I'm still fairly new to MMA although I've taken an interest in the UFC and dipped in and out of watching over many years now. These last few months I can't get enough. I think it's linked in part to my returning interest in boxing and my declining interest in WWE. The Ronda defeat and McGregor running wild have also been a big factor and have drawn so much interest from casual!viewers like myself I guess. I've always enjoyed watching The Cowboy fight but can't see past the champion. Fingers crossed for a JDS win and Johnson over Diaz.
d-d-d-dAz
I've gone Cerrone by KO, Overeem by KO (all my common sense says its JDS' for the taking, but I can't shake the image of a 1st round KO for AO out of my head) and Johnson by decision. Wouldn't be surprised if all were right, or all were wrong. Great card.
pryko
Got a little bet on a Cerrone and Diaz double. Would never bet against either of them though to be fair. Both are the underdogs too
