I love he idea of doing the weigh ins as a sort of co-main event on the Edgar vs. Mendes show. They're so stuck in their ways that they'll almost certainly never do it, but that's exactly the type of out-of-the-box mentality that I sometimes wish they'd display. Just something other than more fighters having more fights, you know? A bit of variety. Plus, it's tonnes more eye balls than they'll likely get on YouTube and I can't imagine a single person watching Conor and Aldo face off at the weigh ins who won't buy the pay per view. Just the idea of them finally getting off that scale and knowing that the fight is definitely happening gives me genuine goosebumps.

I can't wait.

That's my thinking.

The way it stands the main card for that Friday show is;

Frankie Edgar vs Chad Mendes

Edson Barboza vs Tony Ferguson

Joe Lauzon vs Evan Dunham

Ryan LaFlare vs Mike Pierce

And of course, they'll have the TUF finals on there as well. A good little card, actually. Personally, I'd sack LaFlare vs Pierce off to the prelims and stick the weigh ins on that main card. That show is going to be all about hyping up 194 anyway, why not stick the weigh ins on there? The cool thing is as well, Edgar vs Mendes could very well decide who will challenge the Aldo vs McGregor winner next. By the end of that weekend we should know what the next big festherweight fights are.

Anyway...

Next stop for the UFC on their Fight Night calendar is Seoul, South Korea. And it's the UFC's first show in Korea.

FIGHT PASS MAIN CARD

Benson Henderson vs Jorge Masvidal

Dong Hyun Kim vs Dominic Waters

Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Alberto Mina

Doo Ho Choi vs Sam Sicilia

FIGHT PASS PRELIMS

Yui Chul Nam vs Mike De La Torre

Tae Hyun Bang vs Leo Kuntz

Dongi Yang vs Jake Collier

Seo Hee Ham vs Cortney Casey

Yao Zhikui vs Fredy Serrano

Ning Guangyou vs Marco Beltran

Dong Hyun Kim vs Dominique Steele

Yes, Dong Hyun Kim is pulling double duty.

Not really. There's two of the fuckers. We're all familiar with Dong Hyun 'Stun Gun' Kim. He's been in the UFC since 2008, MMA record of 20-3-1-1 and is responsible for the only spinning elbow KO in UFC history to date. He's the Dong Hyun Kim in the co-main event.

The Dong Hyun Kim on the Fight Pass bit is UFC newcomer Dong Hyun 'The Maestro' Kim. He's also a welterweight and has an MMA record of 13-6-3.

So two Dong Hyun Kims on the same card, both welterweights, one's fighting a Dominic and the other's fighting a Dominique. Not confusing at all.

Glad we cleared that up.

This card's been jinxed from the off. It was supposed to be headlined by Bendo vs Thiago Alves with a co-main of Kim (fucking hell, the Stun Gun one!) vs Masvidal and a heavyweight fight of Mirko Cro Cop vs Anthony Hamilton. As you can see, none of them are happening now.

Shame, because what a cast of characters the original card was;

That Cro Cop's a smooth operator, isn't he? Look and learn, Sexyama. Look and learn.

Bendo vs Masvidal is the main event now. A welterweight fight between two guys who, until recently, were top lightweights. I like this fight. Not as much as I liked Bendo vs Alves but it's a good replacement fight. They're both only one fight into their welterweight runs. Masvidal knocked out Cezar Ferreira in the first round in July. Bendo submitted Brandon Thatch in a tremendous back and forth fight in February.

The move up to 170 seemed to breathe new life into these two so I'm really looking forward to this. I think it'll actually be a better fight at 170 than it would've been with them both cutting to 155.

Kim vs Waters, I don't really know anything about Dominic Waters. But I like Stun Gun. That's about the extent of my interest in that one. Could be good if Kim's got the old Korean Zombie Version 2 mindset like he's had in his recent fights.

Where the bitches be at around here?

Sexyama is back! He fights very sporadically these days so consider this a privilege. His last fight was a decision win over Amir Sadollah at UFC Japan last September. He looked surprisingly good considering the layoff. Hopefully this will be the same.

Because it never gets old, the Akiyama entrance...

Sicilia vs Choi completes the main card. Not familiar with Choi but looking up his record, he's 12-1 with 10 finishes. And in his UFC debut last November, he scored an 18 second KO over some fucker called Juan Puig. We know Sam Sicilia's a scrapper so I'm now a little bit excited about this.

The prelims don't tickle my fancy much. Ham vs Casey might be decent. Both are coming off losses to Joanne Calderwood but they were good fights.

The highlight of the prelims, and maybe the whole card though, the epic battle we've all been waiting for...

UFC Korea then. Between the double Dong Hyun Kims, all the pullouts, the Cro Cop retirement, the return of Sexyama, Bang vs Kuntz - what a weird card.

Yep. It's a nothing card. The main event is quality but the rest is all just so underwhelming. There are fighters I really like on the card - Stun Gun, Akiyama - but their opponents mean nothing to me so my fucks to give are limited.

Shame because the original card was pretty cool with Bendo vs Alves, Stun Gun vs Masvidal and Cro Cop vs that big jobber.

late to the party but gotta give some props to the Magny/Gastelum fight, as Conor McGregor would say it was an 'excellent contest', quality back and forth fight. I thought Gastelum was gonna nick it or grab a draw as i thought they'd perhaps give him a 10-8 round for round 4 but they didn't. Quality scrap though and unexpected. Glad they gave it FOTN too, i thought they'd side the bloody one sided Lamas/Sanchez (which was fun) fight but they got it right.

I had a fight acca go 5 from 6 over the weekend, one 2/5 favorite in the WSOF lost me a hundred notes, i had Magny on there. The amount of times i've lost by 1 fight is quite staggering.

I want Seo Hee Ham to win on the Korea card now. Solely because of this picture...

Bulldogs are the best.

I completely forgot that there's three UFC shows, three days in a row coming up after this.

Dec 10th - VanZant vs Namajunas

Dec 11th - Edgar vs Mendes

Dec 12th - UFC 194

Fuck me.

Poor looking card but some of my favorite fighters on there so i gotta watch.

Sexxxxxyama!!! One of my favorite ever MMA entrances, and one i got to see live was him vs. Bisping in London when him and his team all got down and did the bowing in the aisle to the classical music, spine tingling stuff.

Edit* Sexyama raising the hotness levels to inexplicable levels at the weigh-in. That tan is something else.

I never had the pleasure of seeing the Akiyama entrance live but I did get to witness an Akihiro Gono entrance in person at UFC 89. Bits of it are in this highlight but it's all gold...

Love Gono. What's happening with him? Last I heard he was beating cancer and had a big fuck off scar on his belly.
