On my BBC set of Bottom, the word "gyppos" is dubbed over with "yobbos"

On my DVD, the scene is redubbed (badly and incredibly obviously) with "yobbos", but the scene selection still has that chapter labelled as "Thieving gypos".

"9 Songs" was absolutely hilarious. What the fuck was that about? I rented it cold from the PUBLIC LIBRARY about ten years ago and did I ever get a shock when I stuck it in. Jeezo.

It's basically a porno really. Wonder how it ever got passed.

Was that not just after James Ferman was replaced at the BBFC and the new guy wanted to show how progressive he was? As a result it lead to films like 9 Songs, Baise Moi, and a bunch of more graphic "Joy of Sex" type documentaries all coming out with regular 18 certificates.

Put in spoilers so Gladders doesn't lose any respect he might have left for me:

I watched Legally Blonde today and it's even more superb than I remember.

I think it may be the perfect chick flick.

[close spoiler]

");document.close();

I'd certainly watch that before watching A Field in Fucking England again

I have an excuse for that one :D

I started watching it about 20 minutes after i woke up. i clicked the tv on, it popped up on Film4 and thought "why not" found it unfunny and a bit of a slog. should probably rewatch it.

I think you summed up my thoughts on A Field in England in your review "awful, dreadful and "extremely boring"

Excuses, excuses. You're on the 'UKFF Questionable-to-No Taste' bench with Mike Castle, Maverick and Jaffa whether you like it or not.

That's fucking harsh.

You gave As Good As It Gets and Hobo with a Shotgun 1, Night Moves 2 and Marnie & To Catch A Thief 2 & half. So your defo on my shit list

None of those are close to being regarded as classics. Not like Black Narcissus, The Sound Of Music, Mary Poppins, The Italian Job, The Conversation, Don't Look Now, The Spirit Of The Beehive, Aguirre: The Wrath Of God, Badlands, All The President's Men, Blow Out and Brazil. I could go on. And on. And on.

Black Narcissus: So dull, beautiful but dull

The Sound Of Music: Good god even thinking of it makes me want to puke

Mary Poppins: Above, plus i hate musicals.

The Italian Job: It's crap and not just in comparison to Caine's true great films. Overated trash

The Conversation: Again bored me shitless but i was young when i watched it so...

Don't Look Now: Seen it maybe third times, like all Roeg movies just breezes by without me giving a crap whats happening. It's better than Walkabout and Performance though

The Spirit Of The Beehive: I thought of deleting this off letterboxd, i remember nothing of it other than my dislike for it pissing someone off.

Aguirre: The Wrath Of God: Out of all the films listed this is possibly the one i'd like now. I'd never seen anything like it and was left wondering what the fuss is about, again being bored during it doesn't help (i react badly to being bored) i love Fitzcarraldo.

Badlands: HATED IT. if your hoping for the main two characters to die through most of the film chances are your not going to like it

All The President's Men: One of the dullest films i've ever seen.

Blow Out Liked up until the end

Absolutely. Most people do. It's why they're regarded as classics!

You should just be thankful I didn't mention your opinions on Carry On and James Bond films or you'd have really been in trouble with folk.

Saw One Chance yesterday. Corden may be a twat, but if you can look past that then this wasn't actually bad at all. An easy one to take the other half to go and see and not fall asleep yourself in the process. You've seen this sort of plot and ending a million times before, but there's some good bits. It'll also get opera music in your head all day.
