Moderators PowerButchi Posted September 24, 2012 Moderators Share Posted September 24, 2012 I just can't see them putting a foreigner as the face of their very American brand  It wouldn't be the first time they have by any means.
Loki
So, we're agreed then? It's Bobby Roode. Â Â Â If you're going to be the man, you have to LOOK like the man. Hogan looks like The Man, Austin looked like The Man, Cena for all his weirdness looks like the top guy. Â Roode looks like The Man. As Clobbered said earlier, you could drop him straight into the main event scene on Raw right now, and he'd look like he belonged. Â He's great at public appearances and media interviews and the like. I can see him on Jimmy Kimmel or The Late Show. He looks like a wrestler, walks like one, talks like one. The last piece of the puzzle was cutting his hair, now he's perfect for the job.

Stormy Weathers
So, we're agreed then? It's Bobby Roode.  Roode is an awesome heel and a great worker but he"s a terrible face.....I just can't imagine that face on posters on the walls on 12 year olds.  I mean yeah the guy is tremendous but were like Smarks, I can't see the Cenation jumping on board the Roode train any time soon and add the fact that if he comes in the "top face" in the WWE he'll have some gay ass catchphrases and have to act like a complete chump and have to do all the make a wish shit and basically take away any intensity the guy has.......I'd rather they brought him in to feud with cena not to replace him  I think if they wanna do something not too drastic give Shamus some beer to drink on the way down to the ring and run riot on smackdown and feud with a heel GM (heyman) and brogue kick everyone and get drunk....basically the only way to get that snot nose over. PSF
Anyone seen Big E Langston on Nxt? Think that's his name anyway. Was really impressed with the guy when I saw him earlier. Great look, good charisma and for a bloke who was heel (I think???) he was over like rover. He's doing what Ryback should be doing.
Paid Members IANdrewDiceClay Posted September 24, 2012 Author Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2012 The Miz is fucked soon. He's about to leave for an extended night stick related lay off. Look who's stalking him for that IC title:
The Ultimate Worrier
Whether you quietly respect him or wish he'd fuck off and stop ruining it, Cena is a one off and I don't think the next big face is going to be anything like him, just as Cena was nothing like Austin and Austin was nothing like Hulk. Â With regards to Sheamus, as much as his ring work is damn near flawless and as much as he has a great look, as a personality he's a bit wet for me. I think he's in the position he's in due to being rammed down everyones throats and being booked like a superstar, rather than being the obvious man for the job. I think WWE will try and make it so, but I have doubts as to whether Sheamus as a megastar will stick. Â We can rule Punk out, his run as a face was nauseatingly shite and as much as he has folk that'll cheer him regardless, he bored the arse off everybody. Orton is in exactly the same boat. Â I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Daniel Bryan. I can see why he wouldn't be suitable for the role, but he has so many things going for him that it would be daft to bet against him reaching that level. Everything he touches turns to gold just now and I honestly think he could make it work. Having watched Wrestling for the past 25 years, I'd be prepared to buy into it. Â The Miz as a face is a complete unknown quantity, but he has built up a reasonable rapport with the audience and I could see that working as well. Â Ryback is also in with a shout, if he's able to work a 15 minute match we could be looking at a player.
Paid Members PunkStep Posted September 24, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2012 Sheamus seems the most obvious choice, but the most obvious choice doesn't always pan out to be the top guy in the long run. It's funny how things work out, like someone pointed out earlier who thought that shit-eating-grinner Rocky Maivia would end up the star he became? But because I can't see anyone else obvious, I'll go for Sheamus too. I'd pick Punk as the next Orton- the second top star but not big enough to be a huge money spinner like Cena and that can flick between face and heel runs whenever needed. In fact, he's probably already in that spot- although Orton is still a huge live events name isn't he? Â I just can't see them putting a foreigner as the face of their very American brand, I don't doubt that Sheamus would do a good job of it, I just don't think Vinnie Mac or Trips would take the risk. He's Irish, so many Americans have Irish roots and let's be honest those that don't tend to love the Irish anyway. And don't forget the biggest star for WWE throughout the 60s & 70s (yes it was a different industry back then, but still) was a foreigner. And like Sheamus, Sammartino was from a country that has a strong presence in the States. Bret Hart was a johnny foreigner, too.
Paid Members tiger_rick Posted September 24, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2012 Bobby Roode is probably the guy in the world who's the most ready for WWE. He could walk out of TNA on Sunday, walk onto Raw on Mondya and not look out of place. He doesn't need polishing, he doesn't need a gimmick, he doesn't need to become TV ready. He'd walk out, be an arrogant twat and get in a fight with someone. He'll never be "the man" because he's not an all-star babyface though.
Paid Members Southside crew Posted September 24, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2012 Sheamus seems to be the plan at the minute, he's pretty over and they've been building him steadily over these last few years. I don't think he'll reach the level Cena's been at the past however many years but he's probably their best hope at the minute. With Orton being too unreliable and one dimensional I don't really see anyone else in the company at the minute. Â Good shout , I think Sheamus has really improved since turning face , has become very good on the mic !
Loki
Roode's babyface run before last year's BFG was awesome though. I'm surprised everyone's gone so cold on it now, at the time people were all over him, and his talking to the ducks. Â I may be alone in this, but I can never take Sheamus seriously because he looks like a fucking idiot.
Paid Members ShortOrderCook Posted September 24, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2012 Agreed. With that and the current incarnation of Bobby Roode slotting right in on Raw. I don't necessarily think WWE may want to change him up much if he was able to join them. I could see him being exactly Triple Hs sort of guy and didn't Rock big him up on Twitter. Rock putting a good word in for you can't be too shabby. Â On Sheamus, I generally like the guy but I've not thought much of his babyface shiz and got a tiny bit of hatred for his World title run because, well, it's been rubbish but also because it disrupted the hot World title issue with D-Bry, Big Show, Menry and Orton which I was enjoying thoroughly. And yeah, his look. He has a unique look for sure, which could be great. But as I've mentioned many a time before, god I detest his hair and beard. He looks like a complete wanker. Paid Members Benno Posted September 24, 2012 Paid Members Share Posted September 24, 2012 I think how much some want a Brit/Irish guy to do well is clouding just how fucking rotten Sheamus has been throughout this horriffic title run this year. Â He's been rammed so far down everyones throats with his bland awful gimmick doing terrible unfunny comedy promos that there is a clear backlash now forming. Â So yeah, actually I'm certain they have him in mind as the next 'man'.....
