Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted January 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 6, 2011 Great stuff, Sev. Going to work my way through this list over the next few days during work time because I need to download some new stuff, really. Good work! The Cum Doctor
Aye, the alternate version of "Terrible Love" is pretty good. The special edition of "High Violet" actually has a couple of cracking songs on it on the bonus disc. I love "Wake Up Your Saints".
Paid Members Burchill's Buddy Posted January 6, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted January 6, 2011 I had no idea Jonsi from Sigur Ros had a solo album. One of those bands where I listen to a lot of their music but know very little about them. And excellent shout on The National. I'll have a listen to a few more of these later. Kawaii Guy
Good call on Widower, really loved Option Paralysis, this and Farewell Mona Lisa are just amazing.
Mr. Seven
Widower was my #1 for almost the whole year but Terrible Love knocked it off the top at the last minute.
poetofthedeed
Interesting list as always, Some good stuff but a lot is not my cup of tea. Just curious, What you rank as the best "hits" of the year. No B sides, Album tracks or remixes just singles that were relatively succesful. Rob Edwards
Gonna fire through this at the weekend and drop some thoughts. As the other resident (though not that resident anymore), music list fag, I figure I'll add some tunes I would have had on there for now. Click on the song title for the youtube link! Â School of Seven Bells - Â Kind of shocked not to see this on the Sev list, dunno if he heard it, but it's a brilliant dreampop/shoegaze type thing and I know Sev tends to like things that are pretty. Â Florrie - Â Probably my favourite pop tune of the year. She's like a solo Girls Aloud, expecting her to blow pretty big soonish.
Rob Edwards
Lindstrom & Christabelle - Â Yeah Lindstrom is one of the premier DJ's/electronic music dons of the past 5 years or so. Weird move to decide to get a Peruvian (I think) bird in to do some weird love songs, but a weird move I'm pleased he made. Â DJ Zinc & Ms Dynamite - Â Yeah, so this one is a banger. Best thing Ms D has done by miles.

Rob Edwards
Tinie Tempah - 'Pass Out' Â You might have heard this one! I don't think much to Tempah overall, but this is the height of the pop/grime crossover so far imho. Ridiculously fun lyrics over the beat, which sounds like the best level of Sonic ever. Dancefloor unification. Â Kanye West - Â I really do think Kanye has tapped into some Purple Rain shit here, whether this remains as vital as Purple Rain to me in a few years remains to be seen, but for now it's the tits. Moderators neil Posted January 6, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 6, 2011 I would like to recommend Javelin - Radio
Rob Edwards
Pantha Du Prince - Â This Bliss was one of my favourite albums ever, so I was pretty amped for the new one. Tracks like this one didn't dissapoint. Pure audio bliss. Â Azari & III - 'Reckless with your love' (Tensnake remix) Â The most awesomely retro sound of 2010 I think. I'm normally pretty against retro sounding shit, but not when it sounds as cool as this.
Van Dammer
I love Dillinger Escape Plan, they are easily my favourite live band and that song sounds fairly good but its just not the Dillinger Escape Plan I fell in love with. I'm usually all for musical progression and such but I wish DEP would write another album like Calculating Infinity...
Mr. Seven
I'm glad they haven't yet as Greg Puciato is a far better vocalist and frontman. Â So I did this top fifty thing for a website too and some Matt Cardle fansite ended up re-linking the list, not realising I was taking the piss. Whoops. Van Dammer
I think the vocalist department is a fair comment but I don't think you can judge the frontman side if you never saw DEP with Dimitri - With or without Dimitri, they've always, always, always been top notch live.
