Shouldnt the Diaz brothers be working on there wrestling

There's no doubt they're doing that aswell. You've got to work on everything. I remember before a Paul Daley fight a while back there was a vid of him sparring and nearly every comment below was something like "shouldn't he be working his sprawl?". As if because he's not working wrestling in that one video that means he never does it.

That's not a dig at you, just reminded me of the Daley comments.

Besides, Judo could be a very effective tool for them...

Nick and Nate Diaz training Judo with Ronda Rousey and Manny Gamburyan

Good idea I think. Judo will be a great way to strengthen their base which should help in the long run with takedown defence and also give some twists to their BJJ game.

I was half expecting Karo Parisyan to show up asking Nate "Do you know who I am?"

No real surprise here;

Each year MMA pundits and media sources reflect on the previous 12 months of in-cage action and announce the fighter they consider to have accomplished the most.

MMAjunkie.com decided to instead poll our readers to vote on the fighter they believe deserves the title of 2011 Fighter of the Year.

Tens of thousands of votes were cast, and as was perhaps to be expected, one fighter rose head, shoulders and "Bones" above the competition.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones earned a whopping 64 percent of the vote and is now MMAjunkie.com's 2011 Fighter of the Year.

In truth, it's hard to argue with the results of the vote. Jones had one of the best years in both UFC and MMA history, earning three-straight stoppage wins over former UFC champions.

Jones was considered perhaps the sport's top prospect 12 months ago, and after wins over the previously undefeated Ryan Bader and former titleholders Lyoto Machida, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, some say he's the top pound-for-pound fighter in the game.

In 2011, Jones also became the first light heavyweight since Chuck Liddell to defend the UFC's 205-pound belt more than once.

So clear was Jones' dominance over the past calendar year, the second-place finisher, Dan Henderson, received just 16 percent of the vote. "Hendo," of course, capped his year off with a "Fight of the Year" candidate at November's UFC 139, where he proved victorious in a five-round thriller with Rua.

But that wasn't Henderson's only highlight of 2011. He moved up to heavyweight to earn a TKO win over MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko and also claimed Strikeforce's 205-pound title with a March victory over Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante before ultimately defecting from the promotion.

UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos and top welterweight contender Nick Diaz each earned seven percent of the vote. UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva scored four percent of the response, and UFC bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz earned one percent, as well.

The final one percent selected the "other" response.

Well deserved without doubt, and it was nice to see Henderson getting some recognition for the year he's had as well.

I cant argee with that poll for some reason and I really dont this rise for Jon Jones, hes just unbeatable at 205 because of his size and hes proving size matters at 205 (so far). Ok Jon does have tools but hes still a rookie in the MMA world.

Question 1. I have a question and its a what if question but is jon jones really that good, its mainly his reach that really gets him victories in the UFC. Because of that huge reach he can throw his opponents off there game and theres no one really in training camp to emulate him. So when he does reach the heavyweights like he wants to people like Overeem has a 80" reach would batter Jones.

My question is really hes made a big name for himself in the LHW division but if he moves to the heavyweight division will he be slaughted theirs guys there such as Cain, Alistar, JDS, Mir, Carwin even the sky scrapper heavy hitters and guys which would disable his reach advantage. He did "wobble" when Loyota hit him imagine someone who weights 60lbs more hitting him. So would Jon be wise to stay at 205 for the rest of his career?

Question 2. Also thinking about it when he choked out Loyota and just let him drop letting Loyota hit his head on the floor it seemed really disrespectful. Another question has the success gone straight to his head? Personally I say yes.

Personally I would say Dan Henderson or Frankie Edger would be the fighter of the year, they fought with heart and passion while Jon fights with a major advantage. Basically Its like A heavyweight vs a middleweight when your facing jon jones.

No question the most successful fighter of 2011 was jon jones.

Stefan Struve is 6'11 his reach is 84'' would he be one of your fighters of the year...?

Im not saying that, im saying I believe its Jon Jones reach that has got him to the top and once he faces someone his size I believe hes fucked.

You say that fighting Jones is like fighting heavyweight which is ridiculous, it's not like Antony Johnson who cuts a stupid amount of weight to get down to 185 every fight, Jones is lean. Machida in their fight had the advantage when it came to the striking and that was a rarity, because he not only has a physical advantage, but he has a strong skillset of moves. He's fought 4 times this year, not only winning the belt but defending it twice as well. The man has had an absolute stand out year and whilst Hendo has had a good year, it's been nowhere near as good as Jones'.

None of the points you make are valid reasons why he shouldn't be considered fighter of the year for 2011.

Your spot on.

I don't know why people have a pop at fighters in LHW or lighter divisions because they arnt heavier, nor fighting heavier opponents. If that's the case, let's fuck off every division apart from heavy weight, obviously Naz was shit because he hadn't proved his speed advantage against Tysons heavier power. Stupidity.

He is the best in his field, because he has a genetic advantage in terms of reach, why should he be ridiculed? He has learned to use that reach to his best, and has done so in an incredible fashion.

Not only is he a monster, he is brilliant at being so.

He is a top bloke, an amazing fighter and I hope he destroys his division even more so in 2012. I want him to be established as the 'best' in mma. . . Why? . . . Becasue he deserves to be.

When he wants to he may change division, but because he hasn't, that doesn't make him 'not' the best.

I don't mean to "flame" you but everything you've just said is a load of crap. I would go into more detail about how wrong you are but Kaz Hayashi has summed up my feelings perfectly.

Do you think GSP is not good because all he does is out wrestle his opponents and he wouldn't be able to do that to big heavyweights who are stronger than him?
