Paid Members wandshogun09 Posted December 14, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 14, 2011 There are rumblings UFC wants to do a massive card in May/June in Brazil. I reckon Belfort vs Silva will be on that, provided Belfort is ok after fighting Johnson. Would make sense to have Anderson vs Sonnen/Munoz, UFC have been looking into secruity for Sonnen if this happens as well. Shogun on the undercard would be nice.  If all went to plan and Sonnen and Belfort win and are healthy/ready, and its a big "if" they could sell out a soccer stadium and have the biggest UFC since UFC 100 with that line up.  Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen 2 - MW Title Wanderlei Silva vs Vitor Belfort 2 Shogun Rua vs Little Nog 2  Would be my top 3 fights for that one if I had my way. Yeah all rematches but all would be fucking brilliant.
jimufctna24
All three fights above warrent a rematcha and all indeded would get the juices flowing. Â I would have Franklin fight Lil Nog/Shogun though, Franklin fighting either would be dream fights and the crowd in Brazil could have someone to cheer. Wand vs Belfort will be proper mental, the crowd will be well confused on who to cheer.
Paid Members Up Chuck Posted December 14, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 14, 2011 Fucking hell, if Silva/Sonnen 2 happened in Brazil, I'd be genuinely tempted to ask a bookie's what odds I could get on Sonnen getting publicly murdered. Franklin vs either would be cool to see. Franklin vs Nog was meant to happen anyway and I've always wanted to see Shogun vs Franklin.  Thinking about it I'd go with  Anderson Silva vs Chael Sonnen (obviously providing he beats Munoz) Wanderlei vs Belfort Shogun vs Franklin Little Nog vs Stephan Bonnar
Paid Members Egg Shen Posted December 14, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 14, 2011 Don Frye in action last weekend. Don Frye is arguably my favorite fighter of all time, so to see him come out of a hiatus and gets murdered like that is just sad to see poor Don. Hopefully the crazy bastard will hang em up for good. TildeGuy~!
Sonnen was supposed to fly over for to Brazil to be in Okami's corner for the fight against Silva but everyone decided against it due to safety. I doubt Sonnen would take the fight in Brazil.

That's true but Dana was saying the other day that they're looking into some high level 'Presidential style' security for Sonnen if he ends up fighting Anderson in Brazil, which obviously makes you think that's the plan if they're looking at security for him. He works for the UFC, not the other way around.  If Silva refuses to fight Sonnen outside of the US, what are the UFC going to do? They are not going to fire him and lose out on one of their top 3 money-making events of the year. Plenty of fighters have refused to fight someone in the past, e.g. fighters from the same camp who the UFC have wanted to fight. Also the likes of Wanderlei refusing to fight Brian Stann.  If Silva flat out says no to fighting Sonnen, the UFC has 3 options, fire him and let him join another company, throw loads more money at him to get him to take the fight, or just find him another opponent. In this case they would most likely throw the money at him if this didn't work they would find him another opponent (Henderson) and hope Sonnen loses a fight in the mean time so they can explain to the fans why the fight isn't happening.  As far as I know the champions don't have a clause in their contract saying fighters have to fight whoever the UFC say they do or else they will be sued for millions of dollars. Paid Members Dead Mike Posted December 15, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 15, 2011 Is there a source for any of this Silva/Sonnen 'will only fight in Brazil' talk or is it just internetz speculation?  Silva refusing to fight Sonnen puts another nail in his increasingly shaky legacy.  Shaky how? Silva's fought everyone they've put in front of him. Unless you're privy to every fighters negotiations so you can compare hearing a titbit of (dubiously reliable) info online & turning into a massive deal hardly tarnishes his champion status. When he was at the top of his game Griffin apparently said he'd fight nowhere apart from Vegas. I imagine shit like this happens all the time, just because 'fighter A' makes a request/demand doesn't mean Zuffa are going to entertain it. Paid Members Bus Surfer Posted December 15, 2011 Paid Members Share Posted December 15, 2011 Anderson Silva wants no part of Chael Sonnen Anderson Silva puts Sonnen away within two rounds if they fight again. Easily.  You were picking Chael by stoppage a little while back.  I think what Ebb means is that Silva doesn't want the hassle of the build up and the inevitable smack talk sparring sessions Chael will try and drag him in to. In the cage, I pick Silva to win comfortably.
