Richie Freebird Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Just spent 158 minutes watching the stunningly bizarre yet highly entertaining Love Death (2006). Another Japanese effort, but I don
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 19, 2012 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2012 Did you watch LoveDeath online somewhere or did you grab a DVD? Really want to see that.
Richie Freebird Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Did you watch LoveDeath online somewhere or did you grab a DVD? Really want to see that. It was on a copied DVD. The sound was a bit scratty on the audio, but with the PS3 fan blaring and the fact that I was just reading the subs I got through it okay. Otherwise I
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 19, 2012 Paid Members Posted September 19, 2012 Actually, just found it on VeeHD. Cheers for reminding me, though, I've got it watchlisted now.
Polish Dad Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 For the record, I've seen pretty much everything that Richie's posted about, and I enjoy his little reviews.
Loki Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm mainly just a little bit jealous of anyone who can watch 6 movies a day. If I find time to watch 3 a week I'm doing well.
Polish Dad Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I work it by watching while I'm doing other stuff, like writing or playing Starcraft 2. Portable DVD player helps too.
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 20, 2012 Paid Members Posted September 20, 2012 Aside from Richie's stuff, this thread's become a little bit neglected and we don't actually discuss that much in here any more, which is a shame really. I know we have lots of film threads but I think there is a lot more to talk about than superhero, Chris Nolan and short films. Has anyone seen Margin Call? Watched this last night, was really impressed by it. A lot of it went over my head but it was one of those films where even if the jargon is impenetrable, it still manages to grip you because it's well enough told that you get the gist of what's going on and can still enjoy it. Kevin Spacey is absolutely great, his best performance for years. Demi Moore is excellent as well, she should challenge herself a lot more with roles like that.

I signed up for that a while ago after you told me about it, but still keep getting a little message every time I want to watch something which just scares me off - This website wants to install the following add-on:

Paid Members MichaelScarn Posted September 20, 2012 Paid Members Posted September 20, 2012 Had a DVD night around my bro and sis-in-laws the weekend, so quick review of the films we saw. Keep in mind that it was a group affair, so none of these are Oscar-worthy efforts, they were more lite entertainment: Pirates (the Claymation style one), they have 2 kids, so we had to sit and watch one that is suitable for them! - Was OK, but nothing special, not half as many laughs as any of the Wallace and Gromit series, which was a bit disappointing. The Grey - A bit odd, I think it
Clumsy Dad Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Anyone seen The Raid? Is it any good? I saw the word subtitled on the DVD cover, so thought my Bro wouldn't like it and didn't pick it up, but is it subbed all the way through? Yeah, they talk in Indonesian throughout it. To be honest most of it is people beating the shit out of each other with little dialogue; you only get a few scenes with much talking. If you like ridiculously over the top action films it's worth a go.
DeanoTheGame Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Pick up The Cabin in the Woods. It's a ton of fun. Not a revolutionary horror film by any means, like a lot of people were claiming, but it's worth anybody's time.
Paid Members LaGoosh Posted September 20, 2012 Paid Members Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) The version of The Raid I downloaded didn't have subtitles but I could still follow the plot. Mainly because the story is so simple you don't even need to know Indonesian to know what's happening. Edited September 20, 2012 by LaGoosh
Paid Members Devon Malcolm Posted September 21, 2012 Paid Members Posted September 21, 2012 I just discovered that Sex And The City 2 was 146 minutes long. Why the fucking hell was that film 146 minutes long? I'm not going to be able to sleep now.
