  1. Worried for those around me at Royal Quest now that I think about it. I went to Strong Style Evolved in Manchester and went absolutely fucking mental for ZSJ upsetting Okada. That being immediately followed by Suzuki vs Ishii transported me into another realm.

The top 3 matches in London will easily bring me to full release. Especially If I get to see The Ace take the British strap off of ZSJ.

Hopefully Gedo has time to sort out Brexit while he's here.

  2. I'm not bothered by THE BUSINESS BEING EXPOSED~! or anything like that but I just don't find this act amusing in the slightest. Same goes for basically any lmaaaaoooo hilarious in joke m8 indy gimmicks. Once they start on TV I would be stunned if the AEW brand of comedy (as seen on the abysmal pre-shows) was anything other than a ratings/boner killer.

Hopefully some better signings to come because for my tastes, once you get passed the very top guys, the roster is thin.

For me personally, it's less about disappointment etc, and more that I didn't see much in him that I hadn't seen in NXT/205 Live. Despite the overall opinion of his US time being that he was a botch machine and a let down, he did have some strong matches in the latter half of his run.

So to me, watching him in G1 wasn't me being blown away. He was a good addition but I didn't see any transformation into some kind of superstar that hadn't existed in recent times.

He was a very good worker in a poor position with a lot of his offense limited.

Now he's a very good worker in a way better position with way less restrictions.

I am literally rubbing my tum tum and going "mmmmm" at the prospect of Ishii and KENTA absolutely destroying each other.

  4. I'm honestly quite baffled by the reaction to KENTA in the G1. There seems to be some sort of narrative that he was a letdown, out of place, not on the rest of the guys level etc.

He was never going to be like mid-2000s NOAH/ROH KENTA when he was comfortably one of the best in the world. He's older, heavier and has a lot of injuries. It's also wildly unfair to hold someone to the standards of Okada, Ospreay, Ibushi etc.

I personally really enjoyed KENTA in the grumpy ass kicking outsider role. Reminds me of an aging Kawada/Tenryu type. I don't know how you can have great matches with Ibushi, Tana, Okada, Sabre and Evil and still be seen as a disappointment.

The angle with Shibata was incredible. Loved it. Pure emotion from the crowd.

Ibushi match (I suppose he does deserve a rest) and no Shingo (ditto) aside the Royal Quest card is awesome. So glad I ended up getting tickets.

  5. I truly did not expect Ishii and Taichi to be one of the blowaway matches of the tournament. Those guys have amazing chemistry together and had Budokan going mental. Would love to see Dangerous T side of Taichi come out more often.

Hard to call this G1 anything but an enormous success. Delivered on all levels from elevating various guys, setting up future programs, ticket sales and match quality. I'm gutted its over!

Even "biologically you either male or female" doesn't really hold up - aside from intersex people, what biological principles are we agreeing are determining sexual characteristics? At school you're taught about XX or XY chromosomes, but some women have Y chromosomes.

I don't want to sound like I am taking the piss here but provided we ignore intersex people for a moment (I AM NOT SAYING THEY SHOULD BE IGNORED BTW) then:

    • Male sexual characteristics - male organs
    • Female sexual characteristics - female organs

Please also bear in mind you have only quoted a part of what I said. I'm not sitting here sipping a pint going "yeah nah mate you're either a bird or a bloke and that's that innit"

My opinion was that at birth you're either biologically male or female based on reproductive organs. What you want to do and how you want to identify or be categorised beyond that is in your hands.

Misguided attempt at a joke, is all. Apologies, HS.

You should step away for a while and get the help you need.

We will all respect your privacy during this difficult time.

  8. That entire argument was excruciating

I've not been this embarrassed for Paige since she got a PAPI tattoo and proposed to Albertdad Dad Rio in the ring at some sleazy little indie show.

I'm sure there was some other embarrassing incident she was involved in but cant quite remember...

I think this is a small enough closed community to be able to have a productive discussion on sensitive issues. We're hardly some shit tip like Twitter.

So you're saying twitter is full of SJW Cuck Snowflakes???????????????????????

  10. Possible big matches set up for Royal Quest / Destruction Tour so far then:

Ibushi vs Ospreay rubber match. Ospreay got the win at the Tokyo Dome, Ibushi got his win back in the G1. Could see this being a main event for London which isn't the worst idea for that card given how over Ospreay is at the moment and how rarely Ibushi comes to the UK.

Okada should defend against Sanada. Makes perfect sense given Sanada finally pinning the champ in the G1 and its a guaranteed great match. Fans seem to really be getting behind Sanada.

Ishii should defend the NEVER belt against Goto and if he's successful then his next defence should be against Shingo.

Wouldn't be surprised by either a Yano/Naito or Taichi/Naito IC title match.

Tanahashi could challenge Sabre for the RPW belt?

I assume Ospreay would defend against the US J Cup winner too?

I think this topic, even with two short pages, is a perfect example of why it's incredibly difficult to discuss things like this online. People jump in, either trying to make jokes or seeming confrontational when maybe they're not. Others try to help even if it's not something they're going through themselves, which is fine but inevitably someone will complain that they're speaking for those they don't represent etc.

It's very hard for someone to literally just come out and say "okay I honestly don't understand this" and try to wrap their head around it somehow. There's a lot of change going on in the world, and a lot of it isn't stuff that we were all brought up with, so some of it doesn't make sense. It's not that people aren't willing to change or accept these new things in the world but some just need a little more explanation to get why it's happening. And to be honest, I think that's okay, rather than everyone just being forced to accept that that's the way things are and it shouldn't bother them. I don't think it's necessarily 'bothering' them, and in fact I admire anyone who's looking to educate themselves with a willingness to understand something more. The world would probably be a far better place if more people did it.

I broadly agree with this. Online if you said, for example, "what's the deal with non binary folk then?" you could literally just be asking for it to be explained to you because you don't understand it. It would instead be interpreted as "Hey guys, who do these wild greedy benders think they are?????"

Before you know it, you've been cancelled.

  12. Shingo vs Ishii was possibly the best match of the tournament so far depending on your tastes. If you like FIGHTING SPIRIT~! then this is right up your alley. I fucking loved it. Shingo is comfortably one of the best wrestlers in the world right now.

If I was to put together a shortlist list of 'must watch' matches from this tournament I would go with:

Shingo vs Ishii (Just two powerful bad asses destroying each other to death and beyond. You don't even need to know anything about these two going in except they are hard bastards who can give and withstand a lot of punishment)

Shingo vs Naito (Great backstory building up to this as they have known each other since training in the Hamiguchi gym almost 2 decades ago. Naito suggested that he beat Shingo in sparring before Shingo left for Dragon Gate but was apparently lying to save face. They are of course now in the same faction in different weight classes. Given the level of star Naito is to the NJPW fanbase, this was perhaps Shingo's biggest match to date and tells a great story of Shingo stepping up and taking the multi time G1 winner and IWGP champ to the absolute limit)

Sanada vs Okada (Okada has dominated their singles matches over the years but with Sanada coming ever closer to the elusive win over the ace. The closing stretch of this match is great story telling and high drama. One of the rare instances of performance of the referee lifting the match to an ever higher level. Instant classic.)

Tanahashi vs Sabre (Excellent technical match. Not the usual big moves and kick outs style match that you see often in the G1. This is a style Tana could work for years and stay at the top of the card if he chose to)

Ibushi vs Ospreay (Both men came in injured which played into the story of the match and it was all the better for it. Not the flippy match some would expect. Bear in mind this is a rematch of Ospreay concussing and beating Ibushi at the Dome in January)

  13. I just think that biologically you are absolutely either male or female at birth. That cannot be questioned.

Beyond biology, if you think about 'male' and 'female' culturally then whatever characteristics you want to adopt beyond should really be up to the individual. If you identify just as much with traditionally male characteristics as you do with traditionally female characteristics then I can totally see why you wouldn't want to be labelled as only one of these things.

Would be a bit like insisting a bisexual person picks a side.

For me it only becomes problematic and annoying when people want to identify as something wacky for attention because it takes away from the genuine issue.

(and also people who 'identify' as teenagers on tinder)

Missus and kids. Summer holidays and I need to get the gym for 0700 so if I wake anyone, my morning is upended and I have to make breakfast and tea and all for everyone, so I have to creep around the gaff, grab my gear and run as quickly and quietly as I can.

But only after pondering a little tug in the kitchen first?

Kevin Kelly and Rocky Romero have done such a bad job at explaining who is still alive in the G1 I’ll explain it here.

I usually don't mind Kelly and Romero. They were driving me absolutely insane with their inability to do some very basic maths during Okada/Evil.

Shingo/Naito is currently my favourite match of the tournament. I suspect that may change when I get home tonight and watch Shingo/Ishii.

  16. So let me get this straight...

You were out walking in fields (presumably in the middle of the night) and something caused a cow to attack you and injure you mainly in the upper thigh area.

Might be just putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5 here but imagine you were still in high school and that was your story. We all know what the lads would be accusing you of* buddy.

Just an old routine. I wake up at 5am, piddle and/or try to eek out a silent or mildly squeaky Millhouse and Bart so as not to draw attention to myself and wake anyone up, go down the kitchen, make Turmeric, Ginger & Cayenne pepper tea that tastes like the pot water from a Bookies jacks, grab my phone, scroll on Facebook, check WhatsApp, check here, check Resident Advisor, check Limetorrents and check XVideos. It's literally just default routine until I'm fully awake and aware of what I should be doing.

    Hang on

So you obviously don't live alone seeing as you are trying not to wake anyone with your fartskis. Who is upstairs while you are down in the kitchen drinking that filth and scrolling through bongo?
