  1. Christ. Ishii is on a mission to be the G1 MVP and GOAT at this rate. I thought Ishii/Cobb was early contender for match of the tournament then he went in 2 days later and took Jay White to the match of his life.

Tournament is delivering in ring so far and the stories are starting to develop

if Ospreay cant continue then Harold needs to give us Suzuki in the A block.

  2. Hiroshi Tanahashi is the most perfect creature ever created by god or man. I always suspected this was the case but I have now witnessed his transcendent beauty in the flesh which confirmed it to be true.

Tana is my mood, vibe and energy.

I am extremely comfortable saying this even as an unbelievably straight adult male.

    (Ibushi is close)

  3. The worrying thing is that he got TKO'd by Royce Gracie a few years back. Royce looked feeble and like his punches couldn't crack eggs. They were still more than enough to batter big Ken.

At least its only Mark Coleman who I can only assume is borderline disabled at this point. Although saying that, you know he will get roided out of his mind for this as well.

I predict more heart attacks and fatalities than Kimbo vs Dada5000.

  4. Strange body type. Very thick but with a big gut, low centre of gravity, power lifter style physique.

He's a shooter and a legit hoss so would probably be a major star in another era.

  5. Pre-Show's have a clear purpose and that's to convince anyone who is on the fence to watch the main product you are trying to sell.

If it was me I would mostly use it for hype videos, promo's etc. Any match you put on there is immediately up against it because people would tend to think "well these lads aren't good enough for the main show"

Their pre-shows sound insane to me. Lets just say you were a casual fan, checked out the pre-show, for some reason you found it incredibly entertaining. You loved it (outing yourself as a deranged pervert in the process). You decided to watch the main shows. Wouldn't you be slightly baffled that the main show is absolutely nothing like the pre-show?

  6. The rumour mill for months has been that two new versions were on the way. A cheaper entry level system and an upgraded "pro" version. Seems an obvious move based on the history of the 3DS, 3DS XL, 2DS, New 3DS, New 3DS XL, New 2DS etc.

A Switch Lite bundle with Pokémon Sword/Shield is going to be massive this Christmas. No doubt about that.

I actually want one even though I have a switch, numerous joycons and a pro controller already. What an IDIOT I am.

  7. So the G1 resumes with cards on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Tokyo and Hokkaido. On these 3 cards alone we are looking at:

    • Ishii vs Cobb
    • Okada vs Sabre
    • Tanahashi vs KENTA
    • Ibushi vs EVIL
    • Ospreay vs SANADA
    • Cobb vs Moxley

    Mental stuff.

  8. I hadn't actually seen this full card until I saw a lot of complaints about it on twitter last night. Fucking hell its absolute farts isn't it?

Good job they are getting the guaranteed ESPN money because I cannot fathom many people parting with money for this. I would skip all but the last 2 fights even on free TV.

  9. WWE commentary and promo's that didn't make me want to pour boiling hot piss into my ears.

Match structures not reliant on endless near falls.

Babyface pushes where the fans aren't concerned about who is or isn't BEING HELD DOWN BY THE POWERS THAT BE.

The old Backlash set (think Backlash 2000)

Shows in MSG with the short aisle like Survivor Series 96.

Ramps that join onto the ring that early 90s WCW, ECW etc.

  10. When it comes to Becky I think either me or everyone else lives in Bizarro World. I don't get it whatsoever.

Anything I watched when she was meant to be setting the business on fire was rubbish. Her whole act, promos, embarrassing patter on twitter just came off as so forced and contrived to me. That whole "Ronnie" thing in particular was so cringey.

Very glad WWE's ratings and house show business are both collapsing under Becky and Seths reign of smug energy.

what does Josh Gross do these days? aint seen that name in a while.

I think he put out a book about the Inoki vs Ali fight not too long ago.

Rothwell/Arlovski is such a weird fight to see on a card listing in 2019 but this is overall a pretty decent card. Vick vs Hooker could be really good.

You're not sure where one of the more marketable and personable fighters in the game goes after taking his very first loss in what was a wacky fight? Seriously? It's not as though he got picked apart on the feet and made to look old, or that he couldn't get his takedown game working. He got cracked by a knee within 5 seconds. Shit happens.

No, I'm not sure. Maybe he gets right back into the mix, maybe he gets a lower ranked opponent, maybe he just knocks it on the head and buggers off. Whether this was a fluke or note, its derailed him massively.

As I said, my preference would be to see him against another elite grappler. I also think you could make the case for Askren vs the loser of Lawler vs Colby. You either get the Lawler rematch which would have a ton of intrigue or a fight between 2 guys who would go all out in the build up.

  13. As someone who has followed multiple G1 tournaments, I cannot stress enough how important it is to skip the tags. For the love of god trust me on this.

You can probably get by watching 2-3 matches per show to be honest if you want to avoid burn out.

Opening night was enjoyable. Particularly liked Sabre and Sanada who just gel together perfectly at this point. Finishing sequence was lovely stuff HOWEVER "The Vegan Hydra" had me begging for Japanese commentary.

Hyped for the run of Korakuen Hall shows. Okada vs Ospreay in the G1 in the main event in that building is surely cant miss.

  14. THOUGHTS ETC.

Thought that was maybe the weakest performance of Jones career. Roughly as uninspiring as the OSP fight. Not 100% sure why but seemed like a combination of the damage from the leg kicks and respect for Santos power. One of those fights that was close, not that exciting and couldn't really be called a robbery regardless of who got the nod. Would rather see Jones hang on to the belt in these circumstances. If he is going to go down, I want to see someone finish him or dominate him.

Genuinely laughed when Rockhold got sparked. I went out of my way to watch as many of his pre-fight interviews as possible so I could absorb his smug delusions. Made the loss all the more sweet. He should probably just go back to being a model, beefing thicc popstars and maybe taking some professional grappling fights (which sounds like a good life tbh)

Wasn't overly impressed with Chiesa. He looked dominant and strong in the grappling but against an aging (in fight years) and very undersized opponent. I don't foresee him being able to ragdoll too many WW's like that. His grappling was good but really feel he needed a stoppage here to make a real statement.

Not sure where Askren goes from here if he fights again. Would like to see him against someone like Maia or Gunni so long as its almost all grappling instead of a bad kickboxing match.
