The First Slam Dunk over 2 hour long anime about basketball I saw at the cinema. It was a very classic by the numbers sports drama, although it was cool seeing that in cartoon form. Some of the basketball game (which takes up like 50% of the film) was really exciting and well done.Â

I finally saw Oppenheimer and I thought it was so fucking dry. Just not my bag whatsoever.

If anyone has any book recommendations, feel free to chuck them in here. I have the Simpsons Confidential one, but have never read it.
Same goes for podcast recommendations, video essays, articles etc.
I quite like some of this guy's Simpsons deep dives https://youtube.com/@TheRealJims

I went to a thing at my Odeon called screen unseen or something. The gimmick was pretty cool, it's a pre release preview of a film but you don't lnow what the film will be til it starts (although they specify it won't be horror). I go to the cinema all the time and often barely know anything about the film, so it was my bag and I enjoyed the suspense of not knowing what it would be.Â
It turned out to be a chick flick buddy road comedy about asian american women called joy ride. I'd seen the trailer for it with other films so had a vague awareness of it. Good choice of film for a mystery packed audience cos it was a comedy with constant raunchy and edgy jokes and everyone was laughing and got into it. It was funnier than I expected and I'm glad I saw it cos I might not have otherwise and the circumstances made it more enjoyable.

I think it's amazing Roger Corman (b movie making legend since the 50s) is still alive, I'd love to meet him.

Everytime I see a random new post in this thread, I always think it's going to be a post saying Bam has passed away.
Same, as I was clicking this one open I was thinking "well there's no new post in the celebrity death thread, that's a good sign"

Shortly after seeing Ricky Gervais I saw Harry styles and Brett Goldstein. That's Hampstead for you.
-
Nicolas Winding Refn is adapting the Famous Five, did not see that coming.
-
Ricky Gervais was walking down the street in Hampstead and stopped to start playing with a complete stranger's dog, it was very on brand.

I really liked the Flash, my only complaint was it's true that some of the CGI is dodgy. I am a massive DC fan/deluded apologist though, so results will vary. It has both my favourite Batmans in it, I don't think I could dislike it if I tried.

I think Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands, Ed Wood is a great run for Tim Burton (I'd start with PeeWee's big adventure but that's not for everyone)Â

The RehearsalÂ
I'd be interested in knowing how much of this was legit, but I suspect that the magic trick is part of what made it so fascinating.
SpoilerI saw it when it first came out so forgive me if I got something wrong but I remember a part where the lady said her favourite film was Apocalypto and for reasons I don't remember it was a really funny ironic answer. I remember thinking I just didn't believe that would be her favourite film and I thought I was being worked.

The cage match was my fave. Trish was great, that would be a rough match for anyone, can't believe the level she can still go in her late 40s having hardly wrestled for 2 decades.Â
She and KO must be so sore today though.
