  1. In the 3rd episode when they showed a flashback of Frasier hosting that undignified Dr Phil style TV show it just made me wonder why they didn't set the revival during that period. Hope we see more flashbacks or an episode set then.

Frasier's son's a bit bland so far, not gonna be too critical 3 episodes in but I do hope he develops a bit.

Kelsey still has it as Frasier and the character was always so formal and fussy that him being 20 years older doesn't make that much difference. I like how he's even more successful and rich now and smells great.

I used to fancy Lilith, I wonder if she's still hot

Have you (or anyone else) tried these? I love spicy stuff and these are almost certainly the hottest crisps I ever had.

These are back at my Lidl and maybe yours, still interested if anyone's had any crisps that are spicier.

I also got some Baked camembert and hot honey "deluxe" crisps from there that I really liked. There wasn't much honey flavour but I liked the savoury camembert taste with a spicy aftertaste.

When I first heard that Steve Coogan would be playing Savile I just couldn't see it.

How? He seemed perfect to me.

He was incredible as Savile, probably the most accurate biopic acting I've ever seen. The show was a bit boring though, should have been a film or something.

    Frasier (The Rodney Years)

It's...not too bad. There is sadly no Niles, but Niles son does a passable Hyde Pierce impression in his appearances. The voice in particular is well done.

He was my fave character in it, an even more weird and neurotic than his dad Niles Jr gives better balance as a Niles replacement than dry old Rodney does.

I thought the first episode was fine, although I watched like 30 hours of married with children this week so admittedly my old fashioned sitcom tolerance is quite high. It wouldn't be fair to judge it on one episode cos there was so much exposition and trying to fit everything in that there was barely room for jokes. I'll check out the next few episodes to see if it finds itself.

  5. Last night I found a channel on Pluto tv that shows nothing but Married with Children all day, I ended up watching it for like 8 hours. I used to love it as a teen and it's still great, so mean and cartoony compared to other sitcoms from the time, I was laughing out loud loads.

I use to love Kelly but now I'm closer in age to Peggy I'm finding it harder to understand why Al is always knocking back her advances.

  6. Been waiting for stuff about that toxic avenger reboot to start showing up as it was announced absolutely ages ago, the tone looks so good. Toxic avenger is one of my all time faves (unsurprisingly) and I like everything I've seen from Macon Blair so I was really anticipating this one. I would like to see a traditional kind big muscly classic Toxie in it but I'll reserve any apprehension til I know more.

  7. The Creator

I saw a mystery preview screening of this where the audience didn't know what the film was going to be (oddly it was only 1 day before general release). Anyway, I was not prepared for this film, it's a very thought provoking science fiction spectacular. I don't want to give too much away but I thought it was excellent, it had blockbuster SFX, a great "original" story and I even had to pull my hood up at one point so no one could see I was welling up.

It wasn't perfect but it was giving me Terminator, Avatar and District 9 and is exactly the sort of thing I want to see at the cinema, I want everyone to see it so we keep getting movies like this.

PS what happened to this thread? It's so dead these days. Talk about films people.

  8. Was excited to try these mustard crisps from Lidl but they were only ok. They were really thin and the mustard flavour wasn't that great, too vinegary and not warm and mustardy enough. The bag was 200 grams and I felt pretty gross after eating them all in one sitting. I've had better mustard crisps by Zweifel, a swiss crisp company.

  9. The Equalizer 1, 2 & 3 never got round to seeing any of them so watched the first 2 to see the new one.

The first one was 10 times better than I expected, I loved it. Was a great mix of different low level situations for him to help with, escalating a bit to some serious shit and I really liked Chloe Grace Moretz as the teen prostitute, their friendship felt quite realistic for how unrealistic it was.

By the second film they'd mostly lost that local street level stuff much to the detriment of the story and Denzel is now a globe trotting superspy adventurer who might as well be James Bond or Ethan Hunt, it was still pretty cool and I liked him helping that local young guy and trying to keep him on the straight and narrow. Denzel is pretty much fighting like John Wick at this point and is totally OP, also him fighting crime in his local area and then going back to his normal life is starting to stretch the realism a bit.

The third film is entirely set in Italy, totally ditching the last shreds of the realistic low key local vigilante aspect. It plays more like a spaghetti western with him as the badass stranger arriving in a new town and helping them against the baddies. Denzel is now literally fighting like a horror movie killer - coming out of the shadows to surprise people by stabbing them or cutting their heads off. His actions are pretty indistinguishable from Michael Myers or Jason Voorhies in his last fight. Still not bad, especially if you look at it as a western.

Edit: I forgot to mention my worst thing about the Equalizer movie series; They didn't use the Equalizer tv show theme tune at all. The theme music was the best thing about the Equalizer and they really should have used it in some way.

  10. South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut was showing at my local odeon for an anniversary screening or something. I've probably seen it 15 times but not for 15 years. I nearly cancelled my ticket cos I thought I couldn't be arsed to watch the old south park movie at the cinema in 2023 but decided I might as well go.

It won me over extremely quickly, it's a brilliant film. I always thought using the less restrictive movie format where they can swear and stuff to tell a story about swearing and outrage was so clever. I absolutely hate the Simpsons movie for being an extended version of everything I don't like about the Simpsons and being boring with nothing to say, the South Park movie is the opposite of that. Also the songs are so memorable and there are so many, it was fun hearing them all loud on the big screen after not hearing them in years. I'm not surprised the Sourh Park guys went on to do a hit Broadway musical because I think most musicals would kill to have a batch of songs as good as the South Park movie.

One Piece kinda fell in that time where I was actively avoiding the more shounen style shows, I'm tempted now though even though it'll likely take 6 months to watch everything.

I just rewatched part 4 of JoJo, I'm not sure that I prefer it to 3 but Morioh is such a great little setting. The small town vibe is so different to the others.

One piece live action basically covers the first 3 or 4 series of the cartoon if you want to get caught up to watch it. Both the anime and live action are really fun and very similar.

I loved JoJos part 4 too, I like Rohan and I enjoyed the setting and animation change. Agree stardust crusaders is best though, there's so much good shit in that series.

Just watched episode 1 of the One Piece live action, on Netflix.

Was a lot more fun than I expected, though it has that thing most Manga/Anime live action adaptions seem to have, where everything just feels off/weird.

Never got too far into the source material because fuck that kind of investment but I think I'll stick this one out.

I really liked the live action One Piece series, it's probably the most faithful adaptation of anything I've ever seen TBH. It looked a bit cheap and dodgy in parts but I still prefer that they went so full on with the effects and costumes and stuff even if it wasn't perfect, plus it does give it an otherworldly vibe. I love the Luffy casting, he's extremely likeable as he should be.

Chorus makes my heart burst. It's those warm strings and the whole kitchen sink drama of it all. Marc Almond's a lovely bloke. I wish he didn't distance himself from being ordained into the Church of Satan. Satanism needs its resident English synthpop sensitive type, surely. Mostly because I find it sort of funny.

My ex was a next level Marc Almond fan, I pretty much lived the life of a die hard Marc Almond fan for a few years and saw him live tons of times etc. The best was seeing him do a warm up in a tiny bar before a massive greatest hits tour, he did the full greatest hits set and had the video screen and stuff but I think there were less than 50 people there, it was incredible. I always liked Soft Cell but became a pretty big Marc fan in general after all that... the downside is she left me and now I've never been able to listen to him since!

Anyone else watch TheRealJims on youtube? I've really dug his dives in to side and background characters through the years.

Yeah, I linked to his page earlier in the thread, I absolutely love his stuff and his presentation (namely you don't see him in his videos). What's not to like about a meticulously researched deep dive into how old Kearney is?

  15. Would CM Punk's IP be worth more to WWE than anything he could offer in ring? Maybe he's not a long term in ring prospect but a last run/HOF whatever with occasional appearances like goldberg  could be worth it if they can sell merch, action figures, put him in video games etc. Especially with him who has a (admittedly not at its height right now) pretty devoted fanbase and he always does well with that stuff.

Having said that I also always thought Punk has more potential to be able to make money post in ring career than most. He could easily disappear for years like he did before but if he wanted to stay out there with podcasts or live talks, conventions or whatever he has the potential to do better than nearly anyone.
