  1. Go on, I want to hear your opinion. Smith thinks he's going there as a competitor to Ward. Whereas Ward's team have picked him as a competitive punching bag in what will be a glorified sparring session to give him ring time. I don't begrudge Smith for taking the fight, of course he's going to snap up the oppurtunity. But the fact, he believe's he is good enough to fight Ward because he's now a "top level" boxer is mind boggling.

I'm sure he might but I think I'll take this chance to give my opinion on it. It goes to show what promoters can do for you, how he has managed to get him three world title opportunities in two years when as you mentioned before his biggest win is against Dodson is mind boggling. The fact he thinks he is a "top level" boxer is well, lets just say hilarious. I'm disappointed in Ward, I do generally believe none of the top other 168lbs fighters want to face him and he has been out the ring for a while, but Smith, come on, it's a waste of everyone's time. The quicker GGG moves up or Ward goes up to 175lbs to face Kovalev or Stevenson the better.

  2. Being fair they tried to sell the "Bomber" who can't punch hard and the "athlete" who barely threw a punch and was gassed after 8 rounds on PPV, they were two bums and barely a decent undercard, this has couple of world title fights on undercard of main event but still not worth PPV status, it's the usuao farce Hearn serves up, should put Quigg on it too and have him defend his fake belt, complete the set.

  3. Good that it puts to an end of what was meant to be the card for April 25th in the same arena after him selling DeGale as fighting for a world title and never at any point having a clue if that would be possible. Funny thing was Hearn on Ringside saying Joshua is fighting for the WBC and there was nothing said afterwards lol.

  4. I can't go any other way then a Thurman and Broner double here. I think both will turn out to be good fights,  competitive for first few rounds, but after that both fighters taking control. Broner via stoppage between 7-9, Thurman via UD.

  5.

Is the Eubank fight on ITV1?

The Eubank and Fury fights are on BoxNation. You never can be sure with a Frank Warren card on when they will start as usually end up late but Eubank Jnr should be starting no later then 9PM, so hopefully both fights will be over before Frampton starts around 11PM.

  6. Gotta respect Eubank getting into a tough fight after his loss, speaks volumes about his character. He's said even if he wins tonight he wants to fight Saunders again before fighting for a World Title.

Yeah, definitely, you never know how a fighter will respond after losing his 0, but if anything Eubank Jnr has taken more confidence from it then what he had going in to the Saunders fight, not to take anything from Saunders on the night as he did enough and it was the right decision, the first half of the fight Eubank Jnr simply didn't do or put enough effort into winning any of them rounds. Chudinov is going to bring it to him tonight, so hopefully it will bring out the best in him as he will have to work even harder in this fight to get the win.

  7. Didn't even know it was on ITV1. Sweet. I'll get that on later.

When was the last time a boxing match was on ITV1, actually? Got to have been an early Khan fight, right? Or even as far back as Calzaghe vs Lacy or something? It's been a fucking age, I know that.

I'm sure the last one shown on ITV was Khan vs Malignaggi in early hours of the morning back in 2010. Like you say, it has been ages, this should be a good fight too as Avalos brings it and has the style that for me will bring out the best in Frampton. I can't see it going the distance, Frampton to stop him between 6-8 rounds.

Eubank Jnr vs Chudinov is a very intriguing fight. Chudinov likes to come forward and doesn't mind too much being hit so long as he can get his shots in, his defensive moment isn't the best and Eubank Jnr can exploit that. I expect it to be a tough one for both and for it to go the distance with Eubank Jnr taking it in a close decision.

  8. Canelo fights Kirkland on May 9th, so if GGG fights the same night, both on HBO, both come through with wins and that might be the fight next for both. I think Canelo has the balls to fight GGG, Cotto has a voluntary defence he can make of the WBC title, before facing the mandatory challenger who is Golovkin. Things have been quiet on the Cotto front since Canelo had enough after agreeing to everything for Cotto to accept and broke away and decided to fight Kirkland instead. There have been rumours about Bradley moving up to fight Cotto, but time will tell.

  9. GGG yet again just brutalizes his opponent. The constant pressure he put on Murray, every punch thrown with a plan, he just stays in your face and like he usually does he lets these guys hit him and comes back even harder. When it looked like Murray on occasions could back Golovkin up, get his attention with a few combos and then he just gets stalked down, pressed up against the ropes and is teed off on again. He is frightening and at same time so exciting to watch. I think it's got to the point now where Golovkin will have to move up to 168lbs to get the bigger fights that he craves.

Crazy thing is it be easier for him to drop down to 154lbs, then go up to one 168lbs considering his height and size, but unless Canelo is willing to fight the best option is to go up. He wants Cotto next but I can't see it happening. Cotto is a fantastic fighter and no question about his heart but he has become a very smart businessman in the past couple of years, my hope is that the pride and ego in him and his trainer, Freddie Roach is enough to make it happen and the fact what looked like Cotto's other two options for May, Canelo and Maweather both fighting against different opponents, guess wait and see what happens. I look at 154, 160 and 168lbs and I still feel the same as I have done over past two years, the only guy I can see who has a real chance at beating GGG is Andre Ward.

Looks like GGG will be fighting again on May 9th, hopefully a top ten ranked guy and after that he needs to be in a huge fight against a Canelo, Cotto, Froch or Ward. If any of these guys are finally ready to step up and take on the baddest man on the planet.

  10. I would be very shocked if Paul Smith can beat Arthur Abraham tonight. I don't think he deserves a rematch either. You go to Germany knowing full well, you've got to KO or demolish the champion to get the belt off them there. But he was given a world title fight when he's not on that level, took a massive pay-day and then pissed & moaned when it didn't go his way. The judges scores were ridiculous but at best the fight would have been a draw anyway. If the scores weren't so wide and Abraham won by a point or two, this fight wouldn't even be happening.

I give Martin Murray a fighting chance and say he's going to topple by the 7th round.

I agree, the rematch was all about how wide the scores were for Abraham and not the fact that a lot of people had him winning the first fight, I gave it to him by one round myself, and in this one he is winning comfortably, I got him 5 up at end of round 11. Smith done well for himself, no idea how he ever got the first world title shot, let alone the second.

I got GGG between 8-10, Murray is tough, game and unlucky to not have won a world title in his previous two attempts, but this is a whole other level, he is up against the MAN, I can't wait.

  11. Finally!!!

I gotta try everything to get out there for this, biggest fight in my lifetime, most probably biggest fight ever in boxing, going to be unreal.

Has anyone heard if they doing a Showtime All Access or HBO 24/7 show?

  12. From last night's Heat vs Bucks basketball game, Too good to be true?

Heads up for anybody interested or not aware, there is a Ringside special on Manny Pacquiao tonight on Sky Sports 1 from 22:15.

  13. Complete waste of time off a third fight. I question whether Alvarado couldn't see or not, his corner wanted him to continue, you could see he didn't want to and saying 4 when the doctor put up 2 fingers was the best way to get out the fight. His attitude at end of the fight said it all, he wasn't bothered, never trained properly, the fans can say what they want, but he will be back, he has quit twice now in front of his home fans, as Rossman said, the big money fights are done for him. Rios done what he had to do, I thought he looked good but based on what was in front of him there really wasn't anyway he could look anything less. It looks like Mathysee vs Provodnikov is done for March 28th, the winner of that against Rios would be a fun fight, he mentioned fighting Oritz too, again something that on paper looks like it will be exciting for however long it lasts.

  14. Dan Rafael on Ringside said the insider word in America is that Mayweather's leaning towards a second fight with Miguel Cotto. Tris Dixon then added that whilst that's a sellable fight (rematch of a good fight, Cotto holds a World Title at Middleweight), Mayweather will also fancy ballsing up the idea of doing the Canelo/Cotto fight.

Yeah, reality is would anyone be surprised if it's Mayweather vs Cotto next? Talked about this in the past, Mayweather can win the 160lbs Middleweight title for the first time in his career against a guy who won the title weighing 155lbs, but a guy Mayweather beat when he weighed 154lbs. It's something that whenever anyone talks about how close the Mayweather vs Pacquiao fight is forgets that Canelo vs Cotto is not signed yet. I won't believe we see May vs Pac until I see them face to face announcing it.

  15. What is a WBO European title? It's not the actual proper European title as that belt is blue and the WBO European one isn't, also the real European title is 12 rounds, the WBO European one is only 10 rounds. Excuse me for the use of the word "European" so much there lol.

This has been a killer of a wait, I could have went to the bar, watched the highlights of Arsenal, came back and still get back for the main two fights.

  16. The weigh in for Bad Blood is being shown live below from 2pm for anyone who wants to watch!

    http://www.boxnation.com/

Another fight that might have flown under the radar that is also going to be shown on boxnation is Crawford defending his WBO lightweight title against Beltran in early hours of Sunday morning, that should be a whole lot of fun, I got Crawford on points.

  17. I think Fury wins the rematch again on points, Saunders vs Eubank Jr is so hard to predict. The smart thing seems to be to go with Saunders, based on what he has done so far, the tougher opposition he has faced and the confidence he has. Eubank Jr I've never been sure about, it's hard to judge him as he hasn't faced anyone of note and most of the talk of him is based on how he handled himself in sparring with Froch. He seems very sure of himself and I don't think his father for one second would be allowing him to fight Saunders right now if he didn't believe 100% he could and would win. I'm going to sit on the fence with this one till after I see them at the weigh in, then I'll give a final prediction.

  18. Tyson/Lewis was a joint venture of Showtime and HBO i believe. So lets all clutch to them straws.

You'd think the money is too ridiculous for this fight not to happen. I can't actually believe it ain't happened yet.

It sure was and it shows if everyone comes together we can all get to see what we want to see.

I think it's easier to make the fight now then back then. Both knew if their fight didn't happen they could make big money fighting other guys that they should beat. The pay day for both and everyone else connected here is the biggest they will ever get by a distance, there is basically no one else left for either to fight. Pacquiao has Marquez 5 but Marquez won't ever sign to that, Mayweather possibly has rematches against Cotto or Canelo. The money come the end will be the only reason if it happens that it does take place, we all lose out if it doesn't happen, hopefully....finally common sense prevails and we get the fight next.

  19.

Now it's over to Mayweather, make the fight everybody wants to see happen. "He's going to fight me?!. He's going to fight me?" Classic

I can't stand Mayweather and if they do ever fight I'll be rooting for Pacquiao to knock his block off (although I've always thought Floyd dominates him), but wasn't Pacquiao recently offered a massive purse by Showtime to fight Mayweather and turned it down? It's all well and good him saying he wants the fight, but when you're offered $40 million and that's not enough, I'm not so sure he wants it that bad.

The $40 million offer stuff was coming from Stephen Espinoza from Showtime, so of course he could be embellishing it with Showtime's ties to Mayweather. But still, it's not like it's coming from Floyd or his team. Espinoza said they offered "$40 million plus a big upside".

    Paulie Malignaggi has been tweeting about it as well;

@boxing4free nah bro Paq was offered 40 mil and 35 percent of the PPV by my boss at SHO, if we're gonna discuss the fight let's use facts.

@boxing4free @jDboxer1 Paq has been offered a huge amount of money for the fight, if he doesn't take it let's be real with this blame game

Not saying Floyd's been blameless either in the delays to getting a deal done. The blame should be shared between Mayweather and his team, Pacquiao and his team, and of course Bob Arum. But Pacquiao seems to me to be saying one thing publicly but his actions say otherwise. If Malignaggi's info is correct, why would Pacquiao turn down $40m plus 35% of the PPV? He's nuts if he still thinks he should get 50% of everything. That shipped sailed when he got robbed against Bradley, and it sunk when he got faceplanted by Marquez. $40m plus 35% of PPV is way more than he'll get fighting anyone else. He'd be mad to not take it. Especially this late in his career and with his well documented tax problems.

Just take the bastard money and let's get this fight on before one of them retires.

Showtime and Espinoza know Pacquiao is contracted to HBO so to offer him that to fight Mayweather on a Showtime PPV is a non starter unless HBO allow pacquiao to freely go do it and that simply isn't going to happen. If be like HBO offering the same to Mayweather to come fight Pacquiao on HBO, unless he has a clause in his contract with Showtime where he can pay a certain amount of money to break the contact it doesn't work. For the fight to ever happen both TV companies would have to be willing to work together, because there is no way either is going to let their fighter go fight on a rival network unless compensated heavily and even then I would think it's highly debatable as even now the fight will make a fortune for everybody who is involved. I don't think Mayweather is fully to blame for what has happened, loads of people all involved in this from both sides at some point have got involved and stopped this from working out. It will take everybody to come together from the fighters, to Arum, Haymon, to HBO and Showtime to work out a deal that everybody is happy with. Whether that can happen, I'm not sure, the hope is that there is so much money for everyone to make, that it simply must as no other fight either fighter can have from here forward will come close to generating, here's hoping for Mayweather to blow most of his cash soon, if he does I'll believe it will happen.

  20. I think I was a bit too respectful when I called them two British bums, I should have added frauds on top of that. Rossman summery is spot on. hard to add much more to what was a snooze fest, if anyone has insomnia, go watch this fight and it will cure it instantly. I refuse to believe there are 75,000 thousand people living in Britain who would go watch that in the Millennium Stadium, surely there isn't that many brain dead people willing to watch that garbage.

Lane's comments to Algieri were comical, one of the funniest things I have heard in a boxing fight, not just for the fact Pac flattened him with a huge left hand a few seconds later, but the fact Pac was completely destroying him. I can't ever recall hearing a 120-102 score card before, superb performance from Pacman. Now it's over to Mayweather, make the fight everybody wants to see happen. "He's going to fight me?!. He's going to fight me?" Classic

  21. Bellew is what he is, continually continues to contradict himself and crazy thing is he doesn't seem to get it's all on record so there's no way of denying it, the fact most of the sky boxing guys are up his backside don't help much. Even though I'm not going to be watching, I do hope to hear from people telling me that Cleverly has won, again.

  22.

i wouldnt go as far to call them bums Gooner. They are definitely making the most of a bitter domestic rivalry, and good on em for doing so.

Bellew done similar nonsense with Stevenson and when it came to fight night he had nothing. He contradicts himself on a regular basis and what is so bitter about this fight? They had a close fight three years ago, Cleverly came out with the win. I just see a guy in Bellew who looks always angry but has never explained why he is. I get they need to sell the fight, do everything they can as it's the biggest payday either of them will ever get in their career, so have to milk it for all it's worth.

The second part of your sentence there is spot on really, Bellew's the kind of guy that needs to get angry to fight, some of it showy for the camera's no doubt but some people just need to get angry to fight. He's just playing the game and it's working for him, it really splits interest down the middle and for Bellew that's no bad thing because people are interested.

As for Bellew-Stevenson, he was in over he his head end of. You can't knock the guy for believing in himself going in though.

Weirdly, Bellew's being lined up to appear in the new Rocky spin-off Creed TV series next year along with Andre Ward, how the hell did he wangle that?

Are people really buying into the nonsense and becoming more interested in it? I guess the PPV figures will show us, I don't see it myself. You can get angry but when you continually contradict yourself, can you sell a lie? I can knock the guy, after that fight he has said on a few occasions he is willing to die in the ring, he never gives up and gives everything, go watch that fight against Stevenson again if you haven't seen and tell me if you believe anything he says matches what he showed that night in the ring. It's a domestic fight that that are trying so hard to sell as a grudge fight,
