  1. I almost forgot that we got Price/Thompson II tomorrow night. Price has looked good from the clips I've seen of him training with Lewis and I expect him to get redemption for the lose in the first fight. Thompson looks in good condition at the weigh in and I'm sure he'll be expecting a shot at one of the champs if he picks up the win again. I go with Price to win by stoppage in later rounds.

  2. GGG is a beast, what a body shot. If you're Martinez I'm sorry but you stay away from that, you don't need that sort of guy in your life. There was talk that HBO offered him to Froch at 168lbs, that would be some fight but I doubt it will happen. He doesn't look like a killer, shows some looks can be conceiving. I hope he one day comes to fight in England, I'd go for sure. Unlucky for Macklin, hopefully he can win a world title one day, he's a good fighter.

  3. Unless De La Hoya and Golden Boy promotions can get inside Broner's head, there will be no May/Broner fight ever.

Broner's making the money, she stepped up a level.

  4. I would like to think someone in his corner has some sense and would make it quite clear to him not to mess around like that against a banger like Maidana. I don't think he would as he knows full well against someone with that power, that if he gets caught flush he's in trouble. I just think he had a total lack of respect for Paulie's power from the get go and that played a part in him not performing in the way we've come to expect from him. He's still a young guy and hopefully he mature's, rather than getting worse from his success.

  5. I had Broner winning by two points, but it was a very difficult fight to score. Broner needs to learn and quickly that he can't be that lazy in the ring. Nearly every round for a good 30 seconds he wouldn't throw a punch, it's alright him mocking Paulie in the fight for lack of power, he can't hurt him etc but basically everyone knew that coming into the fight so he wasn't impressing anyone and regardless of the shots being thrown, if judges see one guy even hitting tappy punches he can steal rounds. Broner was too disrespectful, trying too many times to land power punches and it was minimum work rate. The performance might help as time goes on, but I'm not sure. A three weight world champion at the age of 23 is impressive and can't be taken away from him. I still feel like he has moved up to 147lbs too quickly, he will find it hard to drop back down as he loves his food and he is in the most stacked division out there. However much he tries to play up to the camera's, mentally he is a little fried and that's where Mayweather and he are very different. May is a smart guy, he knows what he's doing, Broner on other hand tries too hard and isn't the sharpest in that dept. He said he'll let the public decide his next fight(that won't be happening) it looks like Maidana which would be a interesting fight, he can't be messing around in that fight as he did this one, but for me Maidana is perfect for him as even though he's strong, he's not the quickest and he'd meet Broner head on in centre of the ring which will suit Broner down to the ground. I hope this is a reality check for him, because there's no doubting he has a lot of talent/ability, but that will only get you so far.

  6. That Bika/Periban fight was great fun to watch. Bika gets it on a majority decision, forth time was the charm this time. I think it was a fair decision, I had Bika winning by a couple of rounds. From round 9 onwards both were just swinging from the fences, hopefully the next two fights can get close to matching this one for sense of excitement.

  7. Can't believe Bika/Periban is for the WBC title at 168lbs. Big things seem to be expected of Periban, tonight will give us a better insight in to his quality. Looking forward to Banks/Mitchell, first fight was fun, can't see this being no different. Someone's getting banged out, I think its going to be Banks this time round. Paulie will do well to survive the final bell.

  8. Even with Broner coming up two weight divisions? If he wins by a clear points decision, does that look bad on him? I don't think he needs to win by stoppage to prove a point, a convincing win should do the job and then moving on to better things.

  9. What's's people thoughts on Broner/Paulie this weekend. Broner is overwhelming fav to be the new WBA champ at 147lbs, but jumping up two weight classes is a big deal and how he's gone about doing so is too as he does like his jumk food, especially twinkies. If he hasn't put the weight on properly for the most part, he could be sluggish and against someone who moves like Malinaggi he could have problems. I think Broner wins on points judging it right now, may change my mind come once looking at the pair of them at the weigh in. I'm just surprised Broner is such a huge fav, even if he could end up being one of the next megastars of the sports.

  10. We have Miguel Angel Garcia vs Juan Manuel Lopez this weekend for the WBO featherweight title, which should be a good fight. Not much else happening though, is there?

Got Broner/Malinaggi on the 22nd of this month, Golovkin/Macklin on the 29th, Hopkins/Murat on 13th of July and Geale/Barker on 18th of August. It's always quite on the boxing front in the summer for some reason, at least from September onward we got some treats with May/Canelo, Marquz/Bradley, Pac/Rios and I'm sure there be a lot more big fights on top of that before the year ends out.
  11. Golden Boy have said Maidana gets the winner of Broner/Paulie. That kind of sounds like Broner won't be going back down which leave massive question about skipping the most lethal division.

I have to disagree with you there as the 147lbs is much more stacked then 140lbs. You got Mayweather, Pacquiao, Marquez, Bradley, Alexander, Malinaggi, Guerrero, Berto, Maidana, Ortiz, Brook and even Khan is coming up in his next fight. If you look at 140lbs you got Danny Garcia, Matthysse, Alvardo, Peterson, I'd include Rios too but he is coming up to 147blbs in his next fight to face Pac. I think 147lbs is much more stronger and more likely Garcia and Mathysee if they want even bigger fights will move up once they deal with one another.
  12. Some good fights coming up this weekend, I'm looking forward to Gamboa/Perez, both undefeated and both have serious punching power. Gamboa has not kicked on since beating Ponce De Leon due to inactivity and another jump in weight, his second in two fights might be pushing it a bit far. For Perez this is easily his biggest fight to date in his career. I think if Gamboa wins it will be on points, if Perez is to win it will be by stoppage somewhere in the middle rounds, I'll go with Gamboa to take it on points.

oh yeh, forgot to list Dawson/Stevenson. Doesn't look like Huck/Afolabi is on any kind of English commentary channel anywhere, that's abit shit.

BoxNation have the Huck/Afolabi fight on Saturday night.
  13. Glad to see Money/Canelo is confirmed. I give both guys credit for taking the fight. Canelo was saying only a few days ago he wouldnt drop a single pound to make the fight happen, good he changed his stance to get the fight he has been calling for.

There's no re-hydration limit though. So once Alvarez hits the weight limit, he can spend the next 36 hours bulking back up to 170lbs or such. Floyd won't be able to do that and will have to give up his size to Canelo. Its a dangerous fight to take and maybe one of his biggest tests since the De La Hoya & Castillo fights.

He will be giving up size but there is a reason why May made sure that was apart of the deal. It doesn't seem much, but for a young guy who has always fought at 154lbs, who is growing as times goes by it will be an effort. It shouldn't affect him too much and it's only right he sacrifices something to make the fight happen. It's a dangerous fight for May to take, but I can't see him not winning this. I don't think Canelo poses enough speed.

  14. Glad to see Money/Canelo is confirmed. I give both guys credit for taking the fight. Canelo was saying only a few days ago he wouldnt drop a single pound to make the fight happen, good he changed his stance to get the fight he has been calling for. Just like Guerrero, be careful what you wish for, cause you may just get it. It should be a good one but can't see anything besides May schooling him and taking a UD.

  15. Maidana didn't look right in his first fight at 147lbs against Alexander. He looked pudgy and got schooled. Lopez looked very good against Ortiz when he moved up to 147lbs, but can't judge him on the loss against Canelo at 154lbs. Should be a lot of fun.

  16. They cancelled mine. I got a new debit card and didn't change the details on that paypal rip off site they use.

That's the thing, I could kind of understand that but this was the exact same card/bank details they've been using to take payment for months, with no problem whatsoever.

Ah well. I could do with saving a bit of cash at the moment. I'll try and pick it up again later in the year.

Does anyone know what time the Froch vs Kessler fight is meant to start?

Apart from Brone/Malignaggi, any other fights on boxnation over next month or so do you know?

The ring walk time will be no earlier then 11.15pm, depending on two fights before, I'd say fight starts before midnight for sure.

  17. I don't think the fight either will be as good as the first one. I'd expect both fighters to use their brain more in this one and look to do more getting in and out with their punches. I hope Froch wins as if he loses I think it will be the end of his career. He seems so amped up for this fight, could work for or against, I'm going with it working for him and I think he'll take a close hard fought decision. Can't wait for it.

  18. After Khan's fight against Diaz it seemed certain he would stay at 140lbs and fight for the titles in December against either Garcia/Judah/Mathysse/Peterson, whoever was left standing. Schaffer stoked it up a few weeks later by saying Khan could face Alexander in December at 147lbs for IBF title. Khan came out the other day and said he will fight at 147lbs in next fight, then Saturday night he comes out saying he may stay at 140lbs to face Mathysse. The guy needs to make up his mind. If i was him go up face Alexander, win the fight and then it's likely he gets Mayweather in May 14.

Mathysse/Garcia hopefully will happen this year and I think that be a great fight. Garcia didn't look too sure when the camera zoomed in on him afterwards, I can't blame him after watching the destruction caused by Mathysse who looked superb.

Yeah I'm sure I heard Khan say it was killing him trying to make 140 and that he's been told 147 is ideal for his body structure .

Hope he moves to 147 because I would really fear for him if he went on to face Mathysse.

He was saying his natural weight is 151lbs, that he would never be knocked down at that weight and that he never has in sparring, even against Pacquiao. Most fighters don't fight at their natural weight, so I'm not sure what he was trying to get at bar make more excuses for himself. He needs to stay away from Mathysse, he isn't a slick enough boxer to keep away for 12 rounds from that power.

  20. The WBC have removed Khan from the rankings at 147lbs, but put him as number 1 contender for same belt at 140lbs. Glad they have seen sense, what a joke that was, trying to make it easier to make a fight against "Money" May down the line.

  21. Burns somehow turned that around. I wonder if Gonzalez really has broke his hand, it looked like he quit on his stool after blowing his load in round seven trying to knock Burns out. His trainer can't believe it. Burns has got away with that through sheer heart and determination.
